“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Given the amount this holiday cost, I certainly wasn't expecting The Ritz. I have been to other Greek Islands and so had a good idea of what to expect. The accommodation was exactly as I expected. We stayed in the self catering accommodation, which was basically equipped but of a good size with a nice balcony. The bathroom is again basic, we didn't have a bath just a small shower cubicle where the water temperatures could be temperamental. Overall the most important part was that it was all very clean. It was cleaned every day with towels changed most days.

We opted to pay for the air conditioning which I did find quite expensive at €5 per day, but that was our choice and we were aware that it was payable at the time we stayed. The safety deposit box is payable again, I think around €20 and located in the reception area.

The complex itself was nice, there are two pools with loungers and umbrellas. We always used the pool on the lower deck as it was always less busy. There is a snack bar next to the pool with good value food and drinks. My only criticism is that there could be more loungers and the old and broken ones replaced. We stayed in early June and on some days we were lucky to get places around the pool, I am imagine in peak times it would be impossible to guarantee. There is a place called Remezzo Beach Bar on the beach where the loungers are free and has use of a swimming pool if and when it becomes too busy.

The hotel is very well positioned in Argassi. The resort is small but has an excellent selection of restaurants, within a two week stay we didn't visit all of them. There are a few bars, but our favourite by far was Notos which served delicious cocktails at reasonable prices. The resort was very quiet when we first arrived but got gradually busier but not for those who want a bar scene. There are many supermarkets in the resort for those who are self catering.

The resort is less than 10 minutes away from Zante Town on the local bus which costs €1.60 each or €8 in a taxi. Overall I found the prices to be very reasonable in Zante in comparison to other Greek Islands.

Thoroughly enjoyed this holiday, very laid back and friendly resort, definately worth a visit.

Great location.. Near the strip but suprisingly quiet.. although i did go at the end of May which isnt yet season for the holiday go-ers! The woman who owns the hotel.. katerina.. is always around getting her hands dirty & helping her staff... she is often engaged in conversation and friendship with holiday makers & is very involved. Breakfast was dissapointing, but rooms were very spacious, clean & well looked after. We booked this holiday very last minute and got a very good hotel for what we paid!

We stayed for 2 weeks at the beginning of July. After reading some of the bad reviews we were not expecting much from this hotel. However for the price we paid and the fact Greek hotels are always on the 'traditional' side, the accommodation was really good.
The rooms were basic but big, cleaned every day and had a large balcony. We slept really well although we took our own pillows after reading some of the reviews and this proved invaluable. It wasn't noisy at all in our room (204) and we had a lovely view of the pool. The bathroom was again basic with no shower curtain but this wasn't an issue and we used it as a wet room. Our towels were changed whenever they were dirty. The cleaners came in every day and tidied up and made the beds.
All staff were friendly. The pool var was excellent and well priced (€2.50 bottle of mythos).
The food here was great too.
Sun beds were very in demand and reserved early but we always managed to get 2 eventually. The 2 pools are lovely and some of the biggest in the area.
The hotel is in a great location. 2 mins from the busy resort centre but you hear nothing at night.
Breakfast was repetitive but plenty of it but the dining room really hot and as previously mentioned, not the best layout but plenty of great cafes near by for breakfast if you get fed up. 24/7 does lovely, reasonable food.
For an evening meal our favourite was ethnic. Ate there 4 times. All traditional spit cooked/BBQ food at great prices and with fab cheap wine. The service here is amazing and they give a complementary coffee at the end of the meal.
Also nice is picadilly, zorbas (huge portions) and papillon. All restaurants were really busy from start of service until midnight and it was nice to eat in busy places with great atmospheres. We visited several other nearby resorts which were like ghost towns due to the all inclusive hotel taking over many resorts.
Argassi is well worth a visit, but try the free bus to vasilikos or hire a quad (only around €20) an go to kalamaki for great beaches.
The best beach bar we found was mimosa. Thomas and elena are lovely hosts. Great views over the sea, no mither, cheap drinks and for €5, use of pool and sun beds.
We loved argassi and will definately return.

Just returned from holiday - well located hotel if you are without transport - We had room 229 which is in the newer block - nice balcony and good room only spoilt slightly by the nightly food cooking noise and smoke from the Picadilly restaurant - all ok and dosnt prevent sleep if you pay the 5 Euro a night charge for the aircon to be on continiously ( Free use between 12.30 and 4 am apparently) as the double glazed patio doors keep out most noise -
Hotel is fine otherwise with only complaint being the breakfast layout to get your food is really annoying and needs re jigging .
Exchanged english money locally and got 1.14 euro to the pound so was annoyed hadnt taken more english money to exchange there instead of being ripped off at the 2 local cash points.
If you like lots of good food for your money try Zorbas restaurant (Turn left out of bottom of complex and on you left after about 100m ) although didnt have a bad meal at any of the places we tried
And for a nice drink over looking the sea afterwards cross the road from Zorbas and find a lane down to the beach where you can sit at Waves bar (Good service -No hassle )
We toured the Island by car, north is quite barren and needs a boat to explore the shipwreck (Recommended ) The west has been desolated by fire in lots of areas but there are a few beautiful bays if you look hard .Nice rural villages can be found on the east above Zante but be aware mad locals flag you down and ask for a lift (Well happened to us ! )
The south cateers for the youth at Lagana and the turtles ( Worth viewing but an interesting mix ) there is lots more to tell but surfice to say we found 10 days was sufficient for a visit.

Room Tip: Try to get top floor to avoid late night noise

What can I say about these studios, Thinking about this brings anger and disappointment to mind. We arrived to reception with high expectation after reading about it online.

We were taken to out studio, on first looks it appeared basic, but ok. There was a fridge, kettle, toaster, e.c.t. No T.V or hair dryer as specified on the website.

However..

Beds - The bed sheets were stained, and the room and floor was generally unclean.

Bathroom - The Toilet seat was broken off, the towel rail kept falling down. You couldn't adjust the shower, you could either have on a non-moveable hook high on the wall, or hold it in your hand at all times. For the majority of our stay the water was either, boiling hot, Freezing cold, coming out brown, or for a day we had no water at all. We complained to reception, their attitude was terrible and they didn't seem to care!!!!

'Kitchen area' - Bowls and saucepans were found dirty and in the cupboard, Toaster was disgusting! We had ants on the first day crawling on the worktop. (and 1 on the bed)

Cleaners/Maids - Were very loud in the mornings, but as you would expect. TOWELS WERE CHANGED 3 TIMES IN 14 DAYS, despite asking for more. One day maid knocked to come in to clean. we politely asked her to wait 5 minutes until we had left for the day. - She didn't return that day at all. Also half empty bottles of water were TAKEN from our room and put into the rubbish, if they were just on the side.

Finally our front door to our apartment - The lock on the door was FAULTY! It would click shut =, so you think it has locked, however, one night we returned to our DOOR WIDE OPEN! Luckily all of our belongings were still there. Another time we found our door open first thing after we had woken up in the morning!! Totally UNSECURE!!!!! Especially if we had children as it was also on the second floor.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! TERRIBLE

Room Tip: Don't use the studios.

We have only just come back a few hours ago and already miss it like crazy and have holiday blues!

Reading reviews on here before leaving we were a bit worried about what to expect, however on arriving at the hotel we were more than satisfied, we stopped in the hotel part b&b so maybe these rooms are different to self catering because our room was extremely clean and cleaned daily with a change of towels every few days or sooner if you wanted.

We were greeted at the door as we arrived and check in was efficient and we were shown to our room immediately which we were more than happy with, rooms are spacious and very clean with a good sized balcony.

Breakfast is typically Greek and a little repetitive, but there are plenty of cheap places outside of the hotel offering a nice breakfast which we did a few days while we were there. The pool snack bar offers some good meals for lunch which we tried a few times when we had a pool day. Some excellent restaurants around the resort, never had a bad meal anywhere but our favourites were Zorbas, Yamas and Peppermint, which are all worth a try!

The beach in Argassi isn't great, so I would recommend catching the free bus to St Nick's beach which is nice and a good day out, the turtle beach trip and shipwreck cove are also must do's while you are there, we did these with our rep but are cheaper outside of the hotel. There is also a tourist train into Zante town which is also worth a trip and only 5 euro return.

Do not be put off by bad reviews, this hotel is lovely and the resort is fab! We are definitely thinking about returning.

My sister and l stayed at this hotel about 4 yrs ago had a great holiday and was really pleased with our stay,at first we didnt like the room looking out to a brick wall but they changed the room straight away,l went back for the day last yr with my partner and was really disappointed with the pool area and grounds the smaller pool had all green alge in it and the grass area was so over grown...its a pity because l talked about this hotel to friends....stayed in Kalamaki last sept and went to Agassi for the day as l loved it so much and spent 4 hours by the pool,we would like to go next yr but only if the pool area etc is cleaned and tidied up.....l couldnt fault the staff when l stayed there as they were so friendly......we stayed here in 2010 and visited sept 2012 for day,but such a lovely place, and only 10euro's taxi to Kalamaki Dennys Inn Hotel is brilliant to stay at there
