“Excellent hotel, room spotless and staff really friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

We were on holiday here from 9th until 23 Sept 2013 and can't give enough praise, the room was spotless and the staff really helpful. There was a problem in the bathroom and one of the staff tried to fix the problem but was having difficulty so we were moved to another room. All of the outside area was kept really clean. We enjoyed our holiday so much that we have booked for next year today.

We were here between 13th & 27th September for our second time this year. The hotel was everything we expected after our first visit in May this year. My first review really says it all & I think the last couple of negative reviews really don't do the place justice. We've just booked today for next June.
During our stay we had excellent service from all the staff we came into contact, from reception through to the cleaner. Our room (115 in B block) was in very good condition & was cleaned very well everyday with towels & linen changed every other day. I even checked under the bed & it was clean under there ( its a bit of a pet hate of mine!) There were no signs of cockroaches or bugs of any kind in our room, but as we don't prepare food in the room & therefore don't leave food scraps lying about maybe that helps. We also had the aircon on all the time (cost about average at €6 per day) which meant we could keep the doors & shutters closed all night to keep the mozzies out ( & any noise from the sunbeds on the mornings after some very late nights at Remezzos!).
The bathroom was very good (especially by Greek studio standards) & was kept very clean by our friendly & polite maid. There was always lots of very hot water at all times during our 2 weeks there. The water was so hot that most times I'd have the mixer for the shower set at "half-way" (most other places I've had it set at full heat to get a lukewarm shower & had to boil a kettle to have a shave).
Our bed was very comfortable for us, a bit hard but that's how I like it.
We didn't use the pool (or hang around the hotel during the day) but it always seemed pretty clean & we often saw the area being hosed down & the sunbeds re-arranged at about 8-30ish by the young lady that runs the poolbar. We did see lots of sunbeds reserved with towels (mainly by the Scandinavian guests) so if anyone wants a sunbed you'd have to get up very early to beat them!
When we arrived the hotel was full & we were unable to get a safe until the Sunday. We were a bit bothered about leaving everything in the room but we needn't have worried. We got the safe on the Sunday ( a bit expensive at €3 per day) just for the peace of mind.
As I said above we eat all of our meals in the excellent restaurants in & around Argassi so we didn't try to use the catering facilities but they're really only any good for a drink & maybe a light snack, a toaster would probably help but there's everything there that you normally get in Greek studios although the area is a bit cramped.
As I've already said this was our second stay here this year after trying many hotels in Argassi over the years & we've booked again for next year because its so good.
I think the previous "couple" of reviewers that weren't happy must have been very unfortunate or maybe have some sort of "axe to grind". I find it odd that no photos of the dirt & other problems were posted, if I'd been so unhappy with the place I would have made sure I had plenty of photos to back up my claims.
I'd just like to point out that this is my personal opinion & I haven't been paid by anyone to write it ;-)

like jack p my partner and myself stayed at the meridien at the same time as the earlier reviewer,at no time did we see dogs in the pool and the rooms were cleaned spotlessly, the pool area was also cleaned every day at around 8am,as for noise the only time i was kept awake was when one family decided to have rows and arguements with a stroppy child,we will have no hesitation in returning to this wonderful place

This is a spotlessly clean and nice little hotel. All the staff are very friendly and on arrival there was a problem with the room and we were moved to another hotel for 2 days but it was handled in such a friendly professional manner that it was not a problem

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and you will be right beside the sea

Like Jack P We could not understand the terrible review that was on recently about this hotel. We have just spent two weeks there returning home on 12th. September. We could not find any faults with this hotel, the place is spotlessly clean and the maid service in our room No.16 was excellent the towels changed more often than we have known in previous self catering accomodation also the bed linen. We found staff on reception very friendly and always ready to have a chat with you.We had some nice snacks at pool bar and on other occasons we went to Waves beach bar and was looked after well by Denny and his staff. We had excellent meals out in the evenings at Ledgens, The Green Frog and many more. This was our 4th. holiday in Argassi the first time we have stayed at Meridien Beach but we shall be returning here again at Meridien Beach. Thanks again for a lovely holiday.

We stayed here for one week from September 9th. I was a bit wary as I did read negative reviews beforehand but I had nothing to worry about.

The hotel was in a great location, near all the restaurants and bars. It was very clean (rooms and pool area).

The snacks at the hotels are cheap and lovely (greek salads, toasties, club sanwiches 2 euro to 5 euro per snack) Gertha the bar lady is lovely too.

The hotel has a good sized pool (was never too busy) and down some steps you can go into the sea - not much of a beach but you can catch a free bus to banana bay or st nicholas to visit one.

I would reccomend eating at Peppermint and Orange (portokali) both places you can sit outside in the gardens with lovely surroundings and cute little lanterns.

You can visit Lagana from Argassi for 17 euro each way in a cab (we are 25-29 years) so found this area fun for nights out.

I would reccomend this hotel and would return again.

Room Tip: ask for a full on sea view (not side sea view) maybe take an iron and they only seem to have one in...

On first impressions this hotel is really lovely and there are a lot of good things to say. The rooms are modern and cleaned to a high standard every day. We had a sea view room with a gorgeous view from our balcony. Lots of space to put things away and an excellent powerful shower that was bliss to come home to in the evenings. The pool area is kept clean and tidy and although there is no proper beach in Argassi you can walk down the steps from the hotel right into the sea. From the look of other resorts and hotels this is one of the nicest places you could stay on the entire island.

Some negatives:
- the hotel is right in the centre of Argassi and particularly in our second week we were unable to sleep for entire nights because of the noise levels coming from the town and drunken people in the pool area and sea. The walls are also very thin and we could hear our neighbours tv on throughout the night.

- the pool café insist on blaring out a limited a choice of chart music throughout the day. If you choose a sun lounger closer to the sea it is harder to hear. I hope I never have to listen to Justin Timberlake again in my lifetime!

- although there are a good number of sun loungers they do get full up occaisonly

- in the second week our neighbours on either side would sit on their balcony and smoke. Not the hotels fault but we did have to close our balcony doors all the time.

- aircon was extra and seemed very expensive at 84 Euros for 2 weeks

- the hotel seems to offer very little in the way of tourist information. They had no maps of the area or recommendations of any sort. Not really a complaint but a welcome pack with some handy hints would have been nice.

- In the second week our toilet broke. We reported it in the morning and they called the plumber only to send him to the wrong room! They promised to call him out in the afternoon but when we got back in the evening still nothing had been done. They assured us that he would be there between 6 and 7pm but when we got back at 9.30pm still nothing. They told us he would be there in the morning. We then lost our patience a bit as we couldn't really cope without a loo all night (especially as I was 20 weeks pregnant) and were not impressed when told there was nothing they could do. However 10 minutes later a very grumpy plumber turned up at our room and fixed the problem so all was well in the end.
