I have been reading all the other reviews with interest. We returned to the Prestige side for our 6th visit (8 overall, having stayed in the “other side’ twice when we first came.
The Prestige definitely has an edge on the main hotel, more exclusive, own pool and restaurant and the rooms kitted out with robes, slippers and lots of toiletries. Staff come to replace towels in the evening should you need them.
Reception and restaurant staff helpful and friendly as usual.
Our main problem this year was arriving to find that we had an apartment right at the bottom by the kiddies pool and on the ground floor. We have always booked a sea view (with balcony) directly with the hotel and always had a balcony. The apartment we had just about had a sea view if I stood on tiptoes, but we would have had to pay the same price as the one that we eventually ended up in (as I complained and we were moved, thanks to reception). I was told that a balcony cannot be guaranteed, but there are different prices for sea view and non-sea view. When I went back on to the hotel website, it looks like the balcony option has been removed (it just states terrace or balcony). So, we don’t know whether we want to go through the stress again next year of what apartment we get assigned!
6051 is great if you have kids and want to be near the pool.
The best ones, for sea view (and away from the pool) are 6007, 6040, 6044 and 6045. But of course, it is just luck which one you get.
We really love this hotel and the staff and always enjoy our stay, so will probably be returning next year!

We wanted the first holiday with our seven month old baby to be as easy and relaxing as possible, so worked up a wish list that went something like this:

- Keep the flight as short as possible

- Keep the hotel transfer as short as possible

- Ideally want the accommodation to have two rooms, so that the baby can sleep in the other room (meaning we can still move about and do things while the baby sleeps)

- As we had just started weaning, we want to make sure there was a small kitchen with at least a fridge, kettle and microwave

- Having a microwave also means we don’t need to bring a sterilising unit, as the bottles we use self-sterilise when nuked
- Having breakfast included would be ideal, but we want flexibility on meals for the rest of the day
- As the baby is still only little, we want somewhere that caters for kids, but isn’t so family friendly as to include a pirate ship or loads of pool slides
- But we do want a baby pool
- Don’t want to be trapped pushing the pram within a hotel so ideally want a resort with shops, restaurants etc within walking distance
- But not such a lively resort that people and loud music would keep baby awake when asleep in the pram
- Somewhere accessible with the buggy as don’t fancy hiking up hills or rocky terrain
- Also, sun loungers outside the room so we can sunbathe while the baby sleeps would be a bonus!!

My own personal (albeit privileged) holiday wish list includes a comfy bed, decent shower, quiet outside my room when I’m sleeping (please don’t put me in a room opposite a lift door!!), nice pool and a good selection of food and drink!

Our extensive wish list required much searching to land on the perfect holiday destination, but Punta Prima Prestige Suites ticked all of our boxes and more!
- Flight time just over 2 hours from Menorca to Manchester with jet2 (whose customer service, particularly with the baby, was impeccable)
- 40 minute transfer time to the resort - we actually opted for a private transfer as we were worried what merry mayhem the baby could cause on a coach. As such, the transfer time in reality was much shorter than 40 mins
- Our suite had the living room sectioned off from the bedroom with a sliding door, which was a real winner for giving the baby some privacy. There was also an extra WC - bonus!!
- There was a little kitchenette with literally a sink, microwave, fridge, kettle and a cupboard. This was everything we needed, but wouldn’t be suitable if you intended to properly self-cater as there weren’t any cooking facilities other than the microwave
- Breakfast was included and was fab - great selection, plentiful, fresh, always restocked and there were loads of choices for the baby. Being in the Prestige part of the complex meant the breakfast room was smaller and less busy than the main hotel breakfast room - another plus in our books!
- Kids were welcome and catered for, with entertainment in the day and night, but that was up at the hotel so the Prestige area was perfect for us as we don’t need all that yet
- Our baby loved the baby pool and we bought him a little float, where he was able to happily walk around in the pool on his own!
- The local village was small and relatively quiet, but had everything we needed, including a place for us to buy provisions and restaurants for us to eat at night. There was also a beach, but it was busy every day so we only ventured once or twice to paddle our toes
- The village was a short walk from the suites, with only a slight hilly incline. I would say however that there is a much steeper incline up to the main hotel, which you may want to consider if you have walking difficulties, or like us you need to push a pram
- And we had sun loungers on our terrace!!

This hotel fulfilled all our needs for our first holiday with a baby, but it also answered our personal wishes too. Comfy bed, great shower (plus separate bath), quiet at night, plus great food & drink. Shame the Prestige bar was always empty and lacking in atmosphere though, especially as the views over the sea were lovely!! On top of this there were English TV channels, which wouldn’t normally be desirable but we wanted to stay in more than usual so that the baby could sleep in the cot.

Staff were friendly, grounds were nice, everything was lovely! Probably our only comment would be that some of the decor was in need of a refresh - the bedrooms were nice but the sofas were a little dated. But they were kept spotless so this is really only if you’re looking to complain.

In summary, this met all our needs for our first holiday with a baby and has even given us the confidence to be a little braver next time!!

My wife and I, both experienced travellers, holidayed here for the first two weeks in September 2019. We have waited a week to reflect on our stay before writing this review, in an honest effort to get the balance right between good and not so good points. We would have rated the hotel as 3.5 stars if such a score were allowed.

First the good points. The buildings which make up this resort/hotel are spread gracefully down a hillside overlooking the sea. The buildings themselves are really attractive to look at, and the grounds in which they are set are beautifully maintained. The pool area at the top of the site was our favoured day-time location as it was quieter and less crowded than the south pool. We always managed to find two sunloungers together in a spot of our choosing, whatever time of the morning or afternoon we turned up. And the views down to the sea are stunning.,

Our room was conveniently positioned halfway up the hillside. It contained all the basic requirements, and we were comfortable enough during our stay. It was particularly welcome to have a bath as well as a walk-in shower in the bathroom, and hot water was always instantly available. The TV in the bedroom carried a wider than usual range of British channels, which was a bonus.

The staff were unfailingly cheerful and helpful, especially in the dining rooms and the various bars. The range of drinks on offer was as comprehensive as any all-inclusive hotel we have ever visited, with well-known brands readily available. If you asked for "drinks to go" (ie. to take back to your room) you were happily given a full bottle of cava or wine or whatever along with disposable plastic glasses to take away. Similarly, at lunch and dinner you were served at table with full bottles of whatever wine you ordered, and they were of perfectly acceptable quality. The choice of food on offer was wide, and we always managed to put together a staisfying meal (but more on this later).

The Entertainment Team were energetic and friendly, and they provided most of the evening entertainment shows. We attended most of them (where else was there to go after dinner?) and enjoyed the music and the lively dancing.

So what were the not so good points that make us reserved overall in our judgement?

First and foremost amongst our disappointments was our check-in at Reception. We arrived in sunshine in the early evening and there was only one group of 4 people ahead of us checking-in. When we left Reception to find our room it was dark! We waited 25 minutes for the group ahead of us to be attended to, and then it was our turn and we found out why it was such a slow process. At various points we had to produce money to pay up front for various things, each time having to wait while an official receipt was produced. We had to pay the tourist tax (quite hefty!), pay for an in-room safe, and pay for pool towels. We then tried to book the two a la carte restaurants, as advised to do so by our Rep, only to be told to try again in the morning. No offer was made to have our heavy suitcases taken to our room - we ended up TELLING them to do this. We were then given a sketchy map of the extensive hotel grounds with our room marked. We exited reception, in the dark, and had no idea in which direction to head. After wandering around for some time, hauling our carry-on cases, a friendly fellow British holidaymaker on his way to dinner asked if he could be of assistance, and kindly escorted us to our room. This sort of thing should never happen at any hotel claiming to be of 5 Star status !

Our room was pleasant enough, with all the basic requirements, but again there was no evidence of 5 Star provision. Elsewhere we have found complimentary slippers and dressing gowns, but not here. In the bathroom there was only a rudimentary supply of soap, shower/bath gel, or shampoo. More than once we had to ASK for fresh suppies, and on one occasion were reduced to "raiding" the cleaner's cart!

Although located in a stunning setting, the hotel is rather remote - Punta Prima is a small village with very few amenities. There was no real alternative to the hotel's own grounds, although in our second week we did discover a rough coastal path situated between the hotel's boundary abd the shoreline, along which we enjoyed a pleasant walk.

In the dining room we soon learnt to check our crockery and cutlery for cleanliness, as we several times found dirty cups or food-encrusted forks set for us. The coffee served to your table at breakfast was of poor quality and was often lukewarm at best. And only a small point, but we did not expect paper serviettes to be set out on the tables for evening dinner, especially as on some nights they did manage to provide proper linen ones. The meals themselves were acceptable but they lacked the "Wow" factor we were looking forward to at a 5 Star hotel. There must be a presumption that guests would only stay for one week, as we found that the menus in week two of our stay were almost identical to those in week one.

The same was true of the evening entertainment. The programme in week two was basically a repeat of what we had seen in our first week.

In honesty, we wished we had only booked for one week rather than the fortnight which we were actually committed to, The weather was delightful (apart from one horrendous downpour!) and all in all we made sure that we had a pleasant enough holiday. Was it a holiday to remember as something really special? The answer sadly has to be "No", as so many little things fell short of our expectations of a true 5 Star hotel. We will not return.

The room was big and spacious with a large bed. Nice to have two bathrooms. Grounds well kept and a lovely view. Staff very friendly and the food was very good but not quite 5 star. The main downside was the price of drinks and the price of food in the pool restaurant. £12. for a gin and tonic is a little bit excessive.

Room tip: I think all the rooms seem to have a good view but if you are elderly I would recommend a downstairs room.
