We visited menorca and stayed at this hotel for a week in September..I'm a bit of a victor meldrew and I'm usually start trying to find faults as soon as I arrive..but this all in all I simply can't. The Staff from reception right through to the gardener are an asset to this well presented privately owned hotel. A special mention must go to ferran who just keeps the whole hotel ticking from breakfast to last orders!! The whole relaxed friendly atmosphere of the hotel is just what we really needed..and if your a beach bum well you are well catered for as it's a forty second walk from the hotel doors..we don't usually go back to the same place twice but this could be the exception!!! If you are planning to stay there in May or September look out for Janet hansel her and her husband who have been going for the past 26years and they can give you all the best places to visit on the island..so you will not
need a travel guide!!!! Enjoy it's an absolute delight!!!

This place is a dream, small but comfortable room, excellent food, staff are just great, friendly and helpful, maid servise daily and very clean, the beach is less than 100 metres away. The entertainment which we did not know was included very good. I have never seen staff so well trained without getting under your feet. The hotel is only half board but you can get a great lunch by the pool for about 5euros inc. wine. So we had an excellent holiday great weather temp. high 20s late Sept. so NO SCREAMING KIDS no loud night clubs and no drunken teenagers. Just remember the bar closes at midnight so even the adults can be a little loud by then so if you want to go to sleep early you want a room with a high number ( ours was 002 ) the lower the number the nearer the bar. All in all a great holiday and we are looking forward to going back again next year.

Room Tip: If you want to go to sleep early go for a high number room, the higher the number the further from t...

This hotel has excellent staff, it's really clean and tidy. Not a big hotel, so you get personal service. Rooms are quite spacious and enough wardrobe space. The food is cooked thoroughly, with plenty of selections for hot and cold meals. I'm "veggy" but had lots of choices for my meals. We have been 3 times and each one is as good as the last. The situation is EXCELLENT, a stones throw across the road to the beach and the front alongside takes a couple of minutes from the hotel.

Room Tip: Only one tip no air conditioning and a bit costly to hire a fan.

Stayed here the last week of August.

The location of the hotel was excellent, over a quiet road and onto a nice beach. Punta Prima a small resort with half a dozen restaurants, two supermarkets and a night time small market.
At the side of the hotel the bus stop with an hourly service to Mahon bus terminal, from there you can catch various buses all over the island, all very reasonable

The room we had was large, clean but a bit sparse, Tv had all the BBCs and it was well cleaned. With thin walls the noise travelled a lot and we needed windows open all night as there is no air con so more noise

Food was good, variety every night and as throughout the hotel very friendly service, drinks were very reasonable here and in the bar. As with most buffets a week of it was enough.

Around the pool there are some nice trees that made for a nice setting, the pool was large enough. There were plenty of sunbeds but on the downside it meant they were a bit squashed in. Considering it was August it was still comfortable

So, in summery: Great location, service and value in a 3 star hotel

This was our first visit to Menorca as a family of 6 (2 adults of 60+, 2 adults of 40+ and 2 children of 10 and 5) and I can honestly say that we could not have made a better choice of hotel. The Xaloc Playca was good in every respect, thanks to the friendly, courteous, cheerful and attentive attitude of all its hardworking staff. Our own bungalow accommodation, as well as all the public areas, gardens, swimming pool, bar and restaurant, was kept spotlessly clean - when we reported ants in our bathroom to Reception, they attended to the problem straightaway. The quality and variety of food served at breakfast and dinner and from the bar at lunchtime was exceptional, with the chefs achieving an excellent balance between Spanish, Menorcan and international cuisine and changing their menus on a daily basis. Their charge of 3.8 euros for a 500ml carafe of very good red wine was typical of their very reasonably priced drinks tariff. Entertainment on three nights per week was enjoyable, especially a magic show in which a number of young guests including our 5-yr old granddaughter were invited to participate. All in all, we were left with the impression that this was how a package holiday in a decent Spanish hotel was meant to be before the arrival of excessively large and brash resorts to cater for the masses.

Punta Prima itself is small and low-key, with a very pretty beach close to the Xaloc Playa. It seems popular with Catalans and other Spanish people, judging by the busy-ness of the beachside restaurants, and it was pleasant to stroll in the evenings without having to put up with any drunken, loutish behaviour. A little land train takes you along the coast to the picturesque village of Binibequer Vell and there are very easy coastal walks to neighbouring coves. The attractive capital of Mahon itself is only a 20 minute bus ride away (hourly, 1.65 euros single fare) and there are good connections with Ciutadella and the rest of the Island. A trip on the Don Joan glass-bottomed catamaran round Mahon harbour is a worthwhile excursion, as is Somni, the evening equestrian show at Ferreries.

In short, a delightful hotel in a quiet, pleasant resort on a pretty Spanish island.

Room Tip: If you are going as a family, contact the hotel in advance to see if you can be accommodated in a ga...
