My wife and I have just returned from an excellent week at the Xaloc. It was our first time to Menorca and based on our experience here, it will not be our last.

It is difficult to add more to what murraym00 from Gateshead reported 2 or 3 posts earlier. Everywhere was kept beautifully clean, the staff were always helpful, polite, very efficient and almost unobtrusive, the bedroom was spacious with plenty of hanging and drawer space, the bathroom had seemingly new sanitary ware and was spotless. Sound insulation was not good though so early risers in adjacent rooms and those moving along the corridor did cause a disturbance.

The choice and quantity of food for both breakfast and dinner was good. As soon as an item neared the end, it was replenished with fresh supplies. Breakfast choice included everything one normally expects, there is no point in listing the selections. For dinner, there was always a soup, a good selection of cold meats, cheeses and salad dishes (including asparagus and fresh prawns on a couple of nights), four hot dishes with another 4 or 5 hot side dishes, 4 desserts plus fresh fruits and ice cream. Anyone who finds this less than acceptable must be expecting haute cuisine 5 star food for 3 star prices. The food served was better than most people would cook for themselves at home - and that says it all.

I chose to rent a car from the hotel reception rather than from the holiday rep. The car was good, the service was very good and the deal cost effective. However I only wanted 2 days whereas the minimum rental period is 3 days.

Punta Prima itself was very tranquil with another 3 hotels spread around the village and half a dozen restaurants and bars around the beach area. With that much competition, restaurant prices were exceptionally good. At no point did it feel busy or crowded.

Finally, many people we met had returned to the Xaloc not just once, but many times. There really is nothing more to say.

Spent one week in this small family hotel at the beginning of July
Very well situated just a couple of minutes from a lovely beach, very friendly staff, small but adequate bed rooms.
Good facilities for small hotel.
Lacked air conditioning, the weather was hot and we only had a fan in the bedroom.
Food was good on the whole.
I would certainly stay there at a future visit

Room Tip: Choose a Ground level floor, less distance to walk, try choosing one facing the swimming pool

This is now the second year we have been as a party of 4. The first thing that will strike you is the cleanliness of the place, everywhere you go is spotless and with the hotel only around 100 yards from the lovely sandy beach its a good achievement. Its seems like a family run hotel and most of the staff were still there from last year but they are some of the most polite and helpful staff I have ever come across whilst on holiday. Wi-fi access is available for 15 euros a week and works well.
The food is adequate with a choice of around 3 main courses each night, its not fantastic but considering the location, and the price we paid it represents excellent value for money.Only slight criticism is the beds are like sleeping on a rock !, very hard but again may suit others. Overall an excellent venue and the staff make it a worthwhile place to visit. Will definitely go again as Punta Prima is not over developed and at the moment fairly quiet with good cafe's and restaurants

Room Tip: Good selection of rooms over looking the pool up to 2 levels. Down stairs can be a bit noisy if ther...

My husband and I have just returned from the Xaloc after a 2 week stay. What a lovely place our room was spotless beautiful sea view we couldnt have asked for more. All the staff were very pleasant and helpfull especially Sandy on reception.
We hired a car for 5 days and toured the island it was very good value and the island is very easy to navigate.
The food is good my hubby fave was the puds and you can have as much as you want. We would not hesitate to return here it would make a good week rest and relax holiday, Punta Prima is so laid back.

Room Tip: ask for sea view you will not regret it

We spent 10 nights at the Xaloc Playa Aug 23 rd (I think!) to Sep 3rd. We had never been to Menorca or had a beach holiday during the school Summer holidays so we were expecting it to be very busy with children and possibly over-touristy. However, we were very pleasantly surprised by our choice of hotel and area. Punta Prima is a lovely bay with just enough bars, restaurants and supermarkets to not feel overwhelmed or isolated. The beach is beautiful and is watched over by the idyllic blue and white striped light house out on the island further into sea. The water is surprisingly shallow for a very long way, as a 5foot 4 adult I could walk a good 25metres out with it only coming up to my chest. It is also manned by lifeguards so feels very safe.
The hotel has over 100 rooms but the place never really feels busy until meal times. Even then, it was only the last 2 nights that we had to wait our turn to go into the self service dining room (there was an influx of Germans who i think thought were going to get a quiet holiday as it was the end of the school holidays by this point) up until then there was plenty of space. There was always plenty of food and anyone who complains, really, what do you eat at home?! Breakfast has cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, bread, meat and cheese, fresh fruit and cooked items such as eggs and bacon. For tea there was always soup, bread, a very good range of salads, meat and cheese, 4 or 5 hot options that and vegetables to go with them, ice cream, jelly, pastries and fresh fruit again.
The rooms were what is required for a hot country. Tiled floors, decent but a bit firm beds, desk, tv with even BBC 1 on it,, phone, bathroom with bath and over bath shower. All rooms have balconies, ours was one of the few with a sea view which is well worth the extra money UNLESS you prefer air con over views and choose an on site bungalow instead of a hotel room because the rooms do not have air con and the bungalows do. So, if you get too hot in the hotel you must hire a fan for 12 euros plus 15 euro deposit. We hired one as it was 33 degrees and it was well worth the money and did the job perfectly! So yes, there are normal hotel rooms and bungalows. The rooms without sea views look over the pool which is very nice but I think I'd find it a bit annoying and noisy during the day and you couldn't escape the entertainment on the night as it's out by the pool.
The entertainment was varying levels of hilarious. There appears to be a standard set up of 3 people playing along to pre-recorded tracks and they do the hotel circuits. The best was not music though, it was 'magic magic' , the very over excited magician and his assistant who were actually very good!
The are all very pleasant and all speak English, German and Spanish vey very well. They even give English people pint glasses and Germans steins for their beer! We asked for steins too though, we didn't want to feel too much like we were still in England.
I haven't mentioned anything about being annoyed by splashing children or music keeping us up all hours as there just wasn't anything like it! I guess the hotel would not keep 5-16 yr olds very entertained as there's only the pool, mini golf, table tennis and pool table to amuse them, there are other larger hotels in the area to cater for that age, so the children who were there we're very young and incredibly cute! The resort on the Saturday night had completely closed up by 10pm, only the sound of the sea could be heard! Bars seemed to stay open as long as there were people in them, so there's a tip, don't go back to the hotel in the middle!
Punta prima has a lot of ants, and we discovered hundreds of millipedes on walks in the evening. The beach can be a bit dirty at times (cigarette ends, that kind of thin) but it does seem to get cleaned up for the next morning.
Menorca is full of history and very beautiful and as it's so small you can get to a lot of places very quickly.
If we go back, which we hope to, we will hire a car to see more of the island. Because everything in Punta Prima is so convenient (the hotel even sells postcards, stamps and has a post box) you kind of think you don't need to leave! But do, there's lots of beautiful things to see. Oh one last thing, the loungers by the pool are adjustable, hurrah!

Room Tip: Get a sea view but remember you'll need to hire a fan when you get there if it's very hot as...

Our 3rd visit here in 3 years. Nothing flash, everything friendly. Food is a good standard, choice of at least 3 main courses each night. Location is excellent, just across the road from the beach. I invested 15 euros in a weeks unlimited wifi, sounds costly, but compared to a week of drinks at a "free wifi" bar, not so bad.

We like this place and hope you don't come, be a shame if it got too full for us to get in!

I agree with most of the latest reviews of this hotel. Visited during the heatwave average temp.38 degrees. Definately needs air con as humidity was a problem especially at night. Agree you should not have to hire a fan in these temperatures good moneyspinner!. All staff work hard and are very pleasant. Drink prices are very reasonable and good measures given. Food well prepared and a good varied selection including plenty of fish including large prawns, mussels and a varied selection of fresh fish not usually provided at 3 star Hotels. Good breakfast selection keeps you full for most of the day until Dinner.
You must take the little train to Binibeca, its just out of a fairy tale! Menorca is a lovely green and laid back island completely different to Majorca and Ibiza. This hotel would not be suitable for party animals but entertainment alternative nights very good.Thomas Cook rep in most days and I would recommend the day trip round the Island very good value . Sheila our coach rep is English and talks from the word go. Very knowlegable of the history of the island. No trouble with sunbeds as most people tend to go to the beach which is just two minutes away.
Try and get up to see the sunrise over the beach quite spectacular. All in all a good value holiday.
One tip, watch out for "ants in your pants" especially if on ground floor room facing the pool as we were. A quick spray did the trick.

Room Tip: Request a pool view on the ground floor or a beach facing view.
