“Much better than expected”

Spent two weeks here in August 2013. Good value with friendly and helpful staff. Food better than other 3/4 star hotels we've been to and was always hot. It's the only hotel I've been to where people rarely 'booked' sunbeds by dumping their towels on them (apart from a few Brits) and there were always seats around the pool throughout the day. Very small resort with not much to do and the beach is also very small but this is fine if you want a quiet holiday without nightclub noise. The only negative comment is that it's a family friendly hotel and, as always if you have to go during school holidays, the behaviour of some of the British kids is a pain.

Room Tip: Higher floors quieter and get a family suite if you can as the rooms are very smail - especially the...

My mum & I spent a week on a half board basis here and have the following thoughts:
1) This is a modern hotel and colourfully which we didn't mind. Most of the room are in 6 blocks.
2) The pool bar is good.
3) The range of food is great, plenty of choice to suit us and you can book breakfast early and still have a small but good range of food..
4) They have kids club (but we didn't use it).
5) We thought the evening entertainment was good, some nights were better then others.
6) We got the local bus to Mahon, just outside the hotel and costs €1.65 single fare. the bus terminates at Mahon bus depot which is in the centre and you can go shopping or down to the harbour.
7) Most of the shops & restaurants in Punta Prima are along the beach front which is about 5 mins walk from the hotel.
8) I was pleasantly surprised to find the room towels were reasonably soft.

spent a five nights at the begging of October with my boyfriend. Hotel is situated about 15 mins from the airport(about 20 euros for taxi)First good thing i have notice about this hotel was stuff at the check in time Javi was very helpful, gave as a room with pool view. Basically nothing was to much trouble for him:-)

Rooms-standard double quiet small, look bigger on the pictures, no long mirror at all in the room which might be a problem when you dressing up. No iron(there is ironing service but you have to wait 48 hours if you need quick they will charge you 50%more, better to take iron from home:-) we been in few supermarkets to get the iron but they didn't have it)no kettle to make coffee - I have to say that i should check those things about room facilities before so I cant really complaint.

Very nice animation team , we went to see two shows in the evening and we really enjoyed it.

Food at the hotel was ok maybe for some people but not for us really not much choice for lunch or healthy options.

We went to spa few times and it was great! so relaxing!

Beach was beautiful with few restaurant but unfortunately all of them was quiet the same(decorations food menu).

Staff at the hotel was working really hard but always polite and smiling especially a waitress Mar at the pool bar- thank you!

Overall we had a nice holiday but not the best

We spent a week the Barcelo Puebblo for my wife's birthday in October. We got a free room upgrade and acces to the spa with a bottle of champagne thrown in by booking direct. Great value, food was very good and the room was spacious and modern. A good holiday as the weather was great also.

Very nice hotel complex, caters for half board and all inclusive, good range of food, drinks are not free, only at breakfast tea, coffee, juice is free, very clean rooms, large t.v in rooms but we only got 3 English channels, only down side with rooms smoke glass between bed and shower so you see who is showering, rooms are over looked by next block or if lucky you may get one over looking pools ,2 main pools plus young childrens pool with slide and more, hotel has extra pools just on other side of fence both sides have bars and eating bars.
The beach is clean with rocks either side with white sand, small town of Punta prima not much to do there in evening only 3 supermarkets and 4 restuarants and a chemist.
Outside hotel you have Doctors opposite and couple of car rentals,There is bus stop which runs every hour but not between 2pm and 5pm takes you to Mahon the capital of Island this is 1.68 euro's and takes just over half hour there is good market on a Tuesday 10 am to 3 pm, there is glass bottom catamarans down the harbour we went on yellow catamaran this takes you on good hour trip and they speak English about the history of Mahon and costs 11 euro's but good value.

Room Tip: Better if you get room overlooking pools, would not ask for sea view because you are abour 500 yards...

Spent a week here with family at the beginning of October. To be fair and to put things into perspective October is generally low key and quiet everywhere in Menorca.

On first arrival the hotel was quick and efficient in getting us all booked into our rooms (1 room wasn't ready but we only had to wait until midday - about an hour).

The first impressions of the hotel are really good - clean, modern nice reception and public areas. Our rooms were clean and tidy, well presented if a little on the small side - we had a ground floor in block 7 (out of 9) facing away from the pool area so we had no sun on the patio at any time. We faced a main road - but this is Menorca and main roads hardly see any traffic.

Our room had a damp spot above the shower and later in the week when people showered above us we had water dripping into our room - after reporting to reception the problem seemed to be fixed, or the people above didn't shower again?

Also our shower just refused to empty quick enough which resulted in water flowing out into the bedroom - this didn't go away and was only solved by intermittently turning the shower off to allow some of the water to drain.

The pool area is really nice, 3 good pools, plenty of sunbeds (OK they are packed closely together but at a quiet time like we had there was loads of room).

We stayed all inclusive and found the food to be fairly good. As it was quiet sometimes some of the food had been out for longer than I like so wasn't quite hot enough - but apart from this there was always plenty of choice (even if sometimes it isn't geared up to the English palate - but then again if I was after English food, I could always stay in England!!)

I am Coeliac (gluten intolerant) and I was really worried about what I would be able to eat, especially as my spanish isnt up to explaining my requirement in great detail (Sin Gluten is a useful phrase - No Gluten).

This is where the hotel exceeded my expectation...having downloaded a spanish guide to Coeliac Disease and showing to some of the staff I had the Restaurant Manager (Manuel) show me what was available, where I could eat safely (directly from the grill was OK, from the food under the hot displays was not as some of the pans could have been cross contaminated). He also brought out Gluten Free bread and Cakes which I could get at any meal, also they would, if required cook GF pasta or any meal really I needed.

All of the staff at the hotel were great, they made our stay most pleasant - nothing seemed too much trouble.

Yes it was quiet, Punta Prima itself is only small - a few shops and restaurants. Even catching the bus into Mahon (€1.65) we found the town really quiet. But there are nice walks along the coast - the walk along the Cami de Cavalls to Cala Alcaufar is about 2 miles with a nice cafe and small beach/harbour to dangle hot feet into the sea.

I would recommend both the hotel and the resort if you are looking for something unlike "Blackpool on Med", the only reason the hotel is 4* and not 5* is due to the room and the shower problems, other than that I cant really fault it.

Our stay was excellent, the food superb (extensive choice at breakfast and evening) and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The blue flag beach is just five minutes walk, along with a selection of half a dozen restaurants and two small, but reasonably priced, supermarkets.

The room comes with a safe, flat screen TV with a few English channels; BBC 1 & 2 plus Sky News, a hair dryer and a small fridge. Note: there is a charge for the safe of €3 per day. WiFi is freely available and we obtained a good signal in our room and an excellent one in the reception area.
There are no tea / coffee making facilities, so we used a travel kettle. Beds are firm, but comfortable. The air con worked effectively and was not overly noisy. Secure car parking is available on site at €5 per day, but there is plenty of street parking in the area.

As a couple we are glad we went out of season, we imagine it could get quite noisy / busy during the summer with a predominance of families (to whom it is eminently suited and well equipped).

Punta Prima is a small town, peaceful and friendly with an excellent sandy beach. The restaurant Manolo was a favourite of ours, reasonably priced and very friendly staff. The capital Mahon is just 15-20 minutes by car and there is a regular bus service from outside the hotel.

Mahon is worth a visit, but we enjoyed Ciutadella on the western side of the island, very pretty and a beautiful harbour. Try the Café Bar Es Moli under the windmill on the Placa d’Alfons III.

Car hire is cheap, the roads are good and not busy, won’t take long to get anywhere as the island is only 30 miles by 12 miles. For free parking in Mahon drive to Passeig Maritim, and in Ciutadella park just off the Carrer de Josep Marcaro Pasarius.
