The hotel was what we were expecting. We went there half-board and we knew from the beginning that we will not stay around during the day as we wanted to visit the island and also have access to a nice nearby beach (and Punta Prima beach is really nice). So for us it was perfect. We had a room on the top floor in block 8 with a very big balcony and some view (even a bit of sea view). Indeed it’s a pity that they don’t have another mirror in the room (yes, I’m a woman!) and we also didn’t have a garbage bin in the room (except the very small one in the bathroom). It’s also a pity that they let people smoke on the terrace during meals. The only thing that bothered me almost every day was the rudeness of some Italian guests at the restaurant, they would practically push you to get what they want. You need to pay extra for the safe box and you have free internet in the reception area (they will provide you with the password only if you ask them).
The food was good and although they cater for an international crowd they also have “the Spanish” touch that I loved (with chorizo, local cheeses, churros and other). So if you expect a pure German or British breakfast don’t go there. I would love if they would offer in the future water for free at dinner for all guests.

This hotel is ideal if you want to have kids running around all day. Your not too fussed on the cleanliness of good area or how it's stored and cooked.

No sea view rooms and only view from balcony is either a road or into another room.

When we were there, due to a mistake by Thomas Cook, children were in the restaurant on scooters and running riot!!!

As another review states. It's the Blackpool of Menorca!!

For me this was the 3rd visit with my twin boys. Entertainment was there if you wanted it but not forced on you.
Great location. Friendly staff willing to go the extra mile to make the holiday as enjoyable as possible. Great facilities for children and adults.
Food was plentiful on the all inclusive menu though could get a little repeative.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone with children.

Room was average with only one mirror in the bathroom. Would have liked another mirror in the bedroom, it would have made getting ready to go out a little easier. Room was very clean, sheets and towels changed frequently. Choice of food was excellent and varied with a lovely outside terrace to eat. Staff were very friendly and helpful, although the entertainment staff could be a little full on. Got a bit fed up with the singing! A little to hi de hi for me. Be prepared, THERE ARE NO PARASOLS ROUND THE POOL. We went in August, and you really need some shade, there are trees around but it is not easy to move the sunbeds under them. I have never visited a hotel in Europe that doesn't have umbrellas around the pools. Maybe all Barcelo hotels are the same. It is a fairly isolated hotel, you could walk down to the beach in a few minutes but there is only a couple of restuarants and supermarkets there. However, it was a fairly pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. My son's room was at the back of Block 9 and got no sun at all

Room was good, entertainment was excellent, staff were fantastic and food was great. We had a big family holiday and booked 4 rooms, we had 3 rooms in one floor and another room in third floor bear in mind this place have 9 blocks and each block have 4 floors and we did book this holiday 14 months ago.
Only 4 reminders just in case you are not aware of, a) no kettle in the room, b)if you want to use the safe you have to pay €3 per day as well as €10 deposit, c)no beach towel but if you want to borrow €20 each and you have to pay for laundry too, d) finally no iron.
As you do not want to ruin your holiday we did not whinge.

Room Tip: Any room is great!!!!

This was a family trip with sister, 4 year old nephew, dad and partner.

Flight from Southampton was 1 hr 40mins with Flybe. A**

Met by Thomas Cook rep and taken to a bus but rep stayed at airport. Several drop off and being the last it was a 35 min journey from airport to hotel.

Spacious impressive reception area with easy book in. Recommend timing flight with room access about 3pm. We had an hour to wait so ok but when we left there were people arriving 730am and after a journey and heat you want to shower. However, there are ample loo facilities so you can change and go for a dip in the pool. We stayed first week of July so plenty of loungers - if that is the case when you go, you can get a lounger and keep luggage with you or seat sheltered by the hotel outside bar.

Kids paddle pool with lighthouse etc with loungers around I plus a play area. There are two adult pools with pool games about 4pm and exercise in the morning.

Restaurant has variety of foods including for health conscious. Recommended you go full board. We skipped lunch but I believe you can order a picnic box to take to the beach. Get there by 730pm to get outside seating. Not much variety for a 4 year old though. Ask for wine and you get a bottle!

There's gym, shop, spa, lounge/bar. Spa extra but great to have a pamper.

Staff friendly but when the sing around the pool it was the same song daily. Kids club - but Nick preferred being outside.

Family room - we had one entrance into a foyer which led to two doors. Room 1 had two single beds, wardrobe, safe, fridge, vanity area, tv, air con, bathroom / shower with hairdryer and towels, loo, balcony. Room 2 (adjoining slide door) much larger with same facilities but with a bath, sofa and armchair and larger balcony. We had third floor so balony wall boxed in so safer for kids but I don't think you can lock properly from the inside which worried me about Nick. I kept door closed at night too and used aircon. all very clean.

Tips:
Going out - get your free bottled water from the bar.
Remember crisps are charged so buy from the local shop.
Cornet ice cream free, others are not.
You can rent a beach towel and get your money back. I used the room towel.
You are near shops to buy the kids beach stuff.
Buy sangria locally - and other goods (even perfume) as it is cheaper than airport duty free.
Don't leave luggage in the green room if you room is not ready. Nick's went missing. It had been clearly hidden down the far end of the unsupervised room.
Take a travel iron.
Take a travel kettle if you need coffee soon as you wake up! Get a cup coffee from the bar and keep cup in room!
Drinks from beach shops cost more.
Rent a lounger on the beach and its 7euro 50 cent each - take a towel.
Take a hat or buy a bandana thing for 2 euro and take more than 2 bottles of sun lotion.
Try the fruit quince - its yum!
Er - cocktails not that good.

Walking:
From the beach back to the hotel is a slight hill.

Advantages:
You are minutes from a doctors surgery, beach, restaurants, evening market, food and goods shop.
Bus stop to Mahon (35mins trip) is outside hotel. Spanish are laid back so bus will be late. Drivers are friendly. Cost 1 euro 64 one way.
On the same road is the road train - worth a trip. Buy a single and get a 8 euro cab back (from beinvello (might be mis spelt). A Spaniard will call the cab for you... we found that!

Annoying:
The water park next door - although fully comp you pay for drinks here, plus discounted tennis, mini golf. Nice place and golf worth it. Bigger paddle play area for kids plus mini pool for adults. Concrete seating or grass. No loungers.

Guests:
Mainly families with grandparents. Probably 5 couples. Kids speak a different language but all friendly and play. There is a adult only section in the indoor restaurant.

Entertainment:
Sorry but poor. Guest performers - cannot remember the name fully but something African (acrobats) and they were fantastic. I don't think the entertainment staff were true dancers. I didn't get Moulin Rouge at all ... grey jeans and grey shirts and walking around like elephants. or maybe the choreography was not very good. When the girls appeared in a change of clothes it was gym wear.

Kids entertainment:
Started about half 8 and the kids loved it. Disco, talking, the I love joining in with the Express Train. I asked another woman if she's like to partner with me to be the tunnel. Great fun! Plenty of rocky beaches.

Other review:
Will write a review on Mahon and beinvello(recommended) too.

Summary:
Highly recommended. Nick and his Mummy are going back next year. There were single Mum's with a child and single Dad's with a child - that's how comfy it was there.

Room Tip: Some rooms faced another block so say if you do want a view and sun. Some rooms faced pool side but...

we arrived at 11.15 to find that our room wasn't ready until 1 as it needed to be cleaned. we were hot and tired and found this to be an inconvenience but was not disappointed with the room. from then on the holiday run smoothly. the food quality was fantastic and we didn't find the need to eat out. we were all inclusive and found this to be the better option as it is very pricey. on previous reviews we had read that the entertainment was noisy but as a young couple we didn't find this to be an issue and even joined in some of the activities, however for a couple looking for relaxation id recommend the golf bar pool. we would like to congratulate barcelo on their wonderful service, nothing was to much trouble for them. we look forward to returning next year.
