Bahura Resort and Spa

I was suprised that after reading the "not-so-good" reviews in tripadvisor, i was pleased with the outcome of my vacation in Bahura resort.
Though it was raining, the kids (and adults alike) enjoyed the big pool and the scenery.
The rooms are big - i have seen the deluxe, premium and villa rooms and i was indeed satisfied with such accommodations. I would recommend the villa if one is travelling with a big group to have a place to gather in after the day. It has a sitting room and a small dining table with chairs. The bathrooms are big though no shower curtains for privacy.
The restau has good choices of food however the servings were small (good for 1-2 persons only) and it was expensive if you have to feed a big group. One order of a pasta is bet 200-250 pesos and a specialty dish can cost 300-500 pesos and the servings are small.
Pre book the massage. Very relaxing but expensive at 880 per person!
Over all, my family and friends had a good and relaxing time in Bahura. Booking via phone was a breeze up to check out. Indeed im coming back next time!

Room Tip: May bring outside food (snacks) which may be cheaper than restau food.

Enjoyed the beach front, although not much sand to speak of. The hotel amenities include free rentals of kayaks, and this was definitely a high point of our stay. We spent hours paddling along the beach fronts. The hotel is pretty isolated and so guests are only limited to the hotel coffee shop/restaurant for food choices. Food isn't that fantastic, but again the pool and amenities makes up for this. The rooms were quite huge but are not that clean. The bathroom fixtures were pretty dated and would be a challenge for people who are overly conscious with cleanliness. The port to APO island is about 10 minutes away and is definitely a must see. The snorkling experience with the SEA TURTLES was priceless.

Room Tip: for deluxe rooms..choose the rooms at the 2nd level.... less stairs to climb especially appreciated...

This place was a great value for the money. Food and Drinks were cheap. You can walk to Atmosphere next door if you want more expensive, more western food. The staff at this resort were incredibly friendly and helpful. This is NOT a 4 or 5 star resort so don't arrive with that expectation. Apo island is worth a visit and was a highlight of our trip. The reef 10 feet from shore was astounding. In Thailand, you would need to take a boat to somewhere to see the same coral and fish. Having this so close to the hotel really made our stay amazing. I was very impressed with how healthy the reef was and at the abundance of fish. This is great for kids and never gets old. The rooms were dated, but were clean and worked fine. A softer bed would have been lovely, but for the price, I can't complain too much. The pools were great for kids of all ages and provided hours of entertainment. I cannot say enough about how helpful the staff was. They were always friendly and willing to help in any way. This place is a great alternative to Boracay or Cebu...not very touristy at all...closest ATM was 30min away by motorcycle.

Room Tip: Villa 1 is the best!

My family stayed there for 4 days. Pros: Rooms were big. Two double beds per room. Bahura burger and chicken binakol are good dishes to order. Nice, clean pool. My son enjoyed swimming in it.
Cons- Staff is not friendly. Resort is dated.

Bahura has huge rooms and friendly staff. It is mainly for divers but also a good option for someone who wants to relax in peace for a few days. The centre piece is a fabulous pool. The restaurant has good food options, all available for room service or poolside. There is a set menu each day or you can just order off the menu. Breakfast is a buffet with changing options each day. The beach is not really for suitable for swimming, at least not while I was there as it was very windy and rough in the water. Wifi is available in the restaurant but not in the rooms. It's worth organising a pick-up from the airport in advance - it is a fairly long drive and the buses are crowded. It's easy to get a local bus to the only mall in Dumaguete for 20 pesos - just go to the street and flag down the next yellow bus. Tell the conductor 'Robinsons Mall'. At the mall you can get a tricycle if you want to go to the ferry port or along Rizal Boulevard; it will cost 10 pesos. The room has a small safe, big bed, TV with lots of channels, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and towels. Not a lot to do in the area which makes Bahura great for a peaceful break.

Bahura Resort looked great on the website but on arrival it is quickly apparent that the resort is dated and needing a lot of maintenance. In its former days, this resort would have been magnificent but it's a shame to see that the operators haven't kept the buildings up to scratch. The pool area is very good though and would be perfect for children and families. The beach has black rocks and black sand and is not very swimmable but is good for snorkeling etc. Our room was very large and the bed was enormous, however there were stains on the bed sheets. The bathroom however was disappointing - there was a sunken shower area with no screen and the water pressure non-existent. We also had holes in our towels. We were quite impressed with the reasonable prices at the restaurant though and the food was quite delicious. A problem we found was that there was a lack of sun lounges down by the beach area. The resort needs more seating for guests to enjoy the views of the ocean and the surrounding islands. For a more luxurious stay in Dumaguete, I would definitely recommend going to the 'Atmosphere' resort next door. Overall it was a nice stay but you get what you pay for.

Would recommend this seaside resort if you do not plan to make frequent trips to the city, which takes 30 minutes to reach.

Our group was billeted in Deluxe, Premium Deluxe and Villa so we were able to compare the three types of rooms. All rooms are very spacious (the villa features a loft where the bedroom is located). Bed in Deluxe room or Villa is bigger than California King and is probably custom-made. Two beds are in Premium Deluxe, both queens. Quite comfortable.

Bathrooms are also large, with a sunken area for the shower (Deluxe/Premium Deluxe). In the villa, the bathroom was even bigger, with a jacuzzi tub.

Rooms had mini-bar, safety deposit box, individual aircon, and cable TV (although channels limited IMO). Two complimentary bottles of water are replenished daily. Hair dryer not in room, but could be requested from Housekeeping.

Rooms were generally clean, however, furniture, paint and fixtures need updating.

Buffet breakfast was included in room rate. Good spread of local breakfast fare plus fruit, breads and pancakes. Cannot comment on lunch or dinner food offerings since we were out everyday, which brings me to the next comment about accessibility of the resort.

Bahura is located in Dauin, which is 30 minutes away from the city center of Dumaguete. In view of this, we planned our activities so that we did not have to travel back and forth. If you intend to relax and unwind for most of your trip, staying in the resort would be ideal for you, since it has a big pool, is beside the beach, and also offers other water sports activities. The room rates are also quite expensive, so it would be impractical if you spend most of the day outside in the city.

Resort staff were very courteous; check-in and check-out were both quick.

Room Tip: Deluxe and Premium Deluxe rooms are the same size. The latter features two beds and a balcony that...
