“My Home Away From Home!!!”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

They welcome me as part of their tribe, the bongo2 tribe, they are very accommodating and lets you feel comfortable. Its a typical backpacker type set up and i usually go there to dive and whats important is the after dive activity where you can have home cooked meals then an ice cold beer and just staying in the terrace sitting on their bikini bamboo chair just chilling watching the sun going down while sharing stories about the days dive and practically anything under the sun, while listening to your favorite music. My hats off to Amado, Magnus, Ethel, Shyn and Marvin, they are just great in what they do spreading the love for diving and the ocean. They are simply great hosts, so i invite everyone to stay and experience it yourself what its like to have a home away from home and that magical experience when you dive exploring the ocean. Dauin by the way is one of the best place for macro photography and the house reef happens to be just steps away from bongo2. Enjoy!!!!

I couldn't recommend diving with these guys enough!!
Their equipment is top notch. Everything down to their masks is brand new and they take great care in looking after it all.
You feel more like a part of a big family when diving / staying at Bongo Bongo, and not just another customer.
My boyfriend and I stayed there for 5 nights on our first visit. We'd been recommended to go there from a friend, but as we arrived in Dumaguete we thought we'd give popular 'Harolds' a visit (just because they were in our guide book) and I'm so glad we had Bongo Bongo as an alternative. The staff at Harolds Place were dismissive about our few questions about their dives. We also heard that their equipment isn't well maintained & they get as many divers on trips as possible...but that's another story.
So, we jumped on a Jeepney for 20 pisos and half an hour later we were at Dauin. Magnus came & met us to show us where their place was, and we were introduced to 'the family' Marvin, Amado, Ethel, Kristine ...and the dogs, haha.
They are planning on extending the rooms for guests, as there's only two at the minute, but they are really clean and comfortable. With free drinking water and coffee. There's also a well stocked fridge ;) and I experienced the best BBQ ever...home made sausages to die for!
We did a few dives on the house reef which was really cool and went to a car wreck. We also went on their Apo island trip which was amazing!! Plus the lunch time sandwiches are delicious.
After a couple of weeks travelling the Visayas, we returned to Dauin, and of course to Bongo Bongo to do our Adventure Deep Dive (in preparation for the Thresher Sharks in Malapascua) and we took part in a second trip to Apo to snorkel.
I know I'm going on a bit here....sorry. But we found Bongo Bongo to be exceptionally good value for money, and they really did make our stay on Negros a memorable one. Absolutely loved it!!
Get in touch with them via their Facebook page, and enjoy your time at Bongo Bongo Divers :)

I stayed here for six nights, and could easily have tripled that. The room is basic yet comfortable, but you're not here to hang out in your room anyway. You'll be enjoying some great company and cold beer on the porch, while anxiously awaiting your next dive, which is literally 20 meters of walk. Extra bonus for all spanking new, high quality dive gear! In fact, if you find better rental gear anywhere, I'll buy the next round. Also, the dive spot is amazing, and Marvin's the greatest spotter since Copernicus. These guys will make you feel at home in the house, and safe and sound in the water. Can recommend!

My regards to the guys and the dogs, can't wait to see you all next year!
