“Top Class Hotel”

One of the best small hotels I have stayed in, immaculate throughout, very nice room with large, comfortably furnished balcony overlooking the sea, quiet efficient AC, flat screen TV, WiFi in every room. Decent sized swimming pool and some comfortable, shady seating areas. The beach was very rocky and difficult to walk on even in beach shoes but we were aware of that before we booked so not a problem. Good restaurant, good mix of meals with a specials board every day. You can also request a meal to be cooked, as I did, and can recommend the seared tuna with teriyaki sauce. Something I did not expect was an English breakfast. The staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We went into the local town Dauin, not much to see, some shops small market and old church. You can top up on your crisps (try the local pork crackling – called Chicharon). I can recommend the local Tanduay rum which we bought from a small shop in the market. You can get the air-conditioned bus into Dumaguete, just walk to the road and flag it down. Could not figure out the price, 100 pesos going and 200 pesos coming back. The jeepney is much cheaper at about 30 pesos. Getting around Dumaguete is easy using the tricycles, only 8-10 pesos around town. There is a large market, old church and sea front boulevard with good restaurants. We only went on one trip from the hotel, swimming with whale sharks. The hotel driver took us to the ferry port where we took the boat to one of the other islands, where he waited whilst we were taken by dugout canoe into the bay where we swam with the whale sharks. Very good experience.

Room Tip: I can recommend the Lab-as Fish Restaurant 201 Flores Avenue Piapi Dumaguete. This restaurant has r...

This was the absolute best resort we ever stayed in. The staff was efficient and really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and we really enjoyed how peaceful it was. Our room was in the new building and was spacious, well furnished and spotlessly clean. Lovely, comfortable balcony overlooking the ocean and the pool. Nice pool, deep enough for swimming. The staff seemed to anticipate our wants without being obtrusive. Special thanks to Noemi who helped me change my reservation and was really helpful with trips and buses.

Only complaint is the loungers weren't particularly comfortable and didn't recline enough.

If it wasn't for the 37 hrs it took us to get back to Ottawa I would happily stay there's again.

Keep up the good work.

Kathy of Ottawa.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the ocean. We prefer a higher floor for more privacy.

This sea side resort completely fulfil our expectations, the room and bathroom were really spacious, with brand new equipment with king-sized bed. We appreciated the proffessionality and politeness of the staff who took care of us from the very first to the very last minute.
Staff always helpful and in a good mood.
Cook does his best, food belongs to first class quality, all styles from european to local ones.
Great pool convenient for swimmers, not just for relaxation.
Calm and friendly athmosphere,
Good value for your pocket.
Come to persuade yourself!

We have spent two nights in Sea Dreams. It was the definitely the best place to stay during our whole Philippines trip. The staff speaks excellent English, is very helpful, always friendly and with a great attitude. Rooms new, are spacious, spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. The cook also knows his business. The whole property is well cared for and silent which we liked very much. The only minus is the lack of a really nice beach - the one in front the resort is kinda stony with not so excellent access, but if you are a pool type you will be satisfied. If you want to get there by anything other than a taxi, ask for Masaplod Norte to the off your bus or jeepney. We would definitely go back here if we are around Dumaguete again.

This review needs to be split in two because there are some very good points about this place but I really left feeling unsatisfied. Firstly, the good is that it is a perfect place for couples to relax. Its quiet and some (not all) of the rooms are very private. There are only a limited number of rooms which means it cannot get too busy. The welcome was warm and friendly and they were very accommodating when we needed to change rooms (we wanted a bigger room).
The room we stayed in was large (executive room) with a sizable deck, which was great to lie down on the outdoor furniture and watch the sun sets.
Now for the slightly annoying/bad parts. The food was decidedly average. The chef comprehensively butchered every piece of fish we had by over cooking it to the point that it was only barely edible. The flavours were ok but certainly nothing better than an average suburban restaurant in the west. I certainly could have cooked better (and I'm no chef). Little things like no napkins for the first meal, and not particularly good service.
I wasn't aware of this (a private beach is advertised - and it certainly is not private, nor a beach) but the coast along Dauin is rocky, i.e. there is no sand, so no laying on the beach, although there is snorkeling off the rocky shore front.
Lastly, and this may seem petty but its the little things that count, they charged me for a broken reusable coke bottle. The money was just over a dollar so we are not talking a huge amount but really?? After spending over $300 for one night (food and accom) is it really necessary? Now any hotel/resort worth its weight would know that its not worth the money to leave a bad impression on departure.
In short, the initial welcome was warm and kind and the room was wonderful but the complete experience was disappointing. I would not return.

We stayed here over Chinese new year. I had been in constant communication with Gerwina and Noemi prior to our arrival, these girls are terrific they answered emails in a prompt and efficient matter.
We were a group of 15 and they welcomed us, remembered our names and our preferences for breakfast and our favourite drinks!
The service as mentioned by other reviewers is top-notch.
The rooms we stayed in were brand new, the decor was relaxing, i loved the ceiling fan (my only complaint would be the pillows, but hey to each his own).
I would recommend sea dreams to other travelers, traveling as a couple, family or group!

Room Tip: the rooms on the second floor

Sea Dream Resort is definitely the best resort I have ever chose. The resort is arranged very well by a humourous and wise gentlemen from Germany.
The room is tidy and spacious ,the food is delicious, but the best is the service . From the boss to the staff ,everyone is so helpful and friendly, any problem can be well resolved quickly. The girls in the commercial center are so lovely and give us a lot of help.
Though I also chose other 5 star resort on later journey ,but the service can't catch up with sea dream, I miss the kindness and those sweet smiles now.
