“Hidden Gem in Negros!”

We attended a wedding in Dumaguete and search for a place to stay with our kids... Found this resort and spa, almost 15minutes drive away from the city. I didn't expect much but when I got there, wow!!! The lawn is beautiful, the sorroundings is so peaceful..and the villa, it's amazing!! Really a 5star quality. I requested for a baby sitter for my 1yr old baby and they gave me Ate Norma, wonderful lady and she's good with the kids!! Thank you for a relaxing weekend. We will come back again. :) (wasn't able to try the massage though, because they have limited number of therapist)

Hi Yssabel, thank you for your lovely review of Atmosphere Resort. We are sorry that you did not get the chance to try a massage, they are divine. Sometimes in the evenings, if we have a lot of guests, the spa fills up. We hope to see you again and that you can try one next time!

Had a wonderful time staying at Atmosphere diving recently. The restaurant is good and not overpriced, ditto the spa. The rooms are huge and minibar well priced. I loved the lack of footpaths throughout, instead there is perfectly manicured grass. The views are amazing and the pool area is great.
We arrived at easter while it was full but it didn't feel overrun.
The diving is great and the staff are just sensational. There are dives planned throughout the day and you just write your name on the whiteboard to join in. I saw so many lion fish on the house reef just in front of the hotel, and watched mandarin fish mating.
The dive courses were a bit more expensive than in Australia and the diving in general was pricey for the Philippines at about 2500php ($60aud) per dive or 22500php for a 10 dive package. We had contacted the resort before arriving to see about hire prices which seemed so cheap that we didn't bother lugging our own gear along. It turned out the all inclusive gear hire package didn't actually include a computer so that was a bit of a shock on checkout.
We took a day trip to Cebu island to swim with the whale sharks for 1/2 hour (6000php per person for the tour, although I gather the actual whale shark swim was 1000php). This was a great experience but not great value in all honesty. When we were about to leave the site we found out we could have paid to have had another swim which would have been great.
The day trips to Apo Island were great on a Philippine boat powered by a huge old truck engine and a very happy crew. Amazing coral, 1 turtle and clear water without too much pollution. Buy t-shirts from the ladies who paddle out to the dive boats, they're excellent value and quality and support the islanders.

Hi,
Thank you for a great review! Yes, there is sometimes the possibility to pay extra to swim longer with the whale sharks and we'll make sure from now on that we let people know there is the option. We hope to see you again at Atmosphere!

This was our 2nd year visiting Atmosphere and again it was superb. This time we took advantage of the scuba diving refresher course (we hadn't dived in 18 yrs). The dive master was very patient and made sure we were completely comfortable in the pool before we went into the waters off the resort beach. We also did a 2nd dive the next day just north of the resort and again the staff/dive instructors were completely patient with us. This is NOT just a dive resort, there is a pool, a spa, yoga, kids club, snorkelling, day trips, many thing to choose from if you are not a diver. Apparently this time they were fully booked but you wouldn't know it, just never seems crowded. The restaurant has very high quality food and so much to choose from - salads, pasta, pizza, fish, meat, done in so many different dishes and the desserts are divine. There is also a pool side bar with happy hour (or happy hour & a 1/2). So, we're already discussing when we should go back for some more relaxation.

Room Tip: We've had the apartment once & the penthouse (for 4 adults) another time and loved both of t...

Hi Alison,
Thank you for your wonderful review of Atmosphere - we look forward to seeing you again a third time! We agree with you wholeheartedly - there is a lot to do at Atmosphere for everyone, diving for sure is at the core of our business but the spa, the yoga, excursions, activities, soup kitchen, kid's club and fine dining makes it a great getaway for non-divers too.

A splendid resort for both divers and non divers. The resort is first class- large, clean, well appointed bungalows- Staff could not have been nicer nor more helpful- all well trained and clearly happy at their jobs, The food was excellent- many choices and the kitchen was always ready to fill any request. In fact the food was really good. The spa was excellent- very peaceful and very good massages, Nice pool and bar area for relaxing AND the best part is the muck diving is as good as we have seen anywhere else- and we have seen most. Large clean room with many workstations for cameras. dive facilities are well thought out - good dive boats, very productive house reef and a very professional group of dive masters and guides. We were with a group of very experienced and very well traveled divers and we all agreed- it is a wonderful dive resort- we can not wait to return. We have been hearing good reports about the Atmosphere from other divers and they were all true, Do not miss this place if you like muck diving!

Room Tip: rooms 1-4 are nice as they are close to spa, pool dive center and restaurant and still very quite.

We stayed here for 5 nights and it is a beautiful place and the staff are excellent. Our preference is to snorkel and the house reef is pretty good, but like so many places in the philippines it is pretty 'fished out' even thought there is a designated sanctuary. It is a great start for nearby Apo island, where the coral is great, but again very little in the way of fish.
The resort itself is great. Rooms are lovely with a fab outside shower and well appointed rooms. The gardens are well kept and the pool and bar area is very nice. The dive staff were brilliant although we weren't diving and helped us on trips to Apo and the Whale Shark trip in Cebu.
The beach is a bit uninspiring - gray sand leading into pebbles - not the sort of place to lounge about on really.
In summary, I can thoroughly recommend the resort if you are diving or snorkelling, but if you want a beachy paradise, pop over to Siquijor (we stayed at the excellent Coco Grove) on the ferry for white powder sands.
All in all, congratulations to the resident owners, the place and staff are a credit to you.

Room Tip: This is great - they are all ground floor duplex so you can't really go wrong!

My partner and i stayed at this resort for 7 nights. The resort is owned and run by a english couple who spend a fair amount of their time with their guests making sure you are having a perfect stay with them. They do this without letting on they are the owners because they are really interested in their guests and how they can improve the resort, although we could not think of one thing that could be changed.
I would disagree with the review of this resort being totally oriented for divers.I am a diver but my partner is not.She really enjoyed her stay spending her time relaxing, using the excellent spar, yoga lessons very day & trips. We did a trip to Oslob where we snorkeled with the whale sharks (7 to be exact) which began at 8.00am and returned at 2.00pm leaving plenty of time for sunbathing or another dive in the afternoon. The resort offers many excursions, one being a soup kitchen, where you can help hand out lunches to the underprivileged children at school so that they have at least one balance meal a day.(A very commendable act by a resort).
The resort is also very children friendly, they have nanny's on site who are excellent with them to enable you to go diving, which one of my dive buddies couldn't praise them enough.
There are many factors that make this a exceptional resort from huge rooms built to to high spec,a architecturally beautifully designed resort with stunning gardens/bar & pool, to some of the most friendliest staff i think i have ever met.
Other factors that make this a 5 star resort is the restaurant, dive centre & dive locations.
The restaurant is a sit down and be served affair (which is a pleasant change from so many buffet serving resorts),but if you wish you can just grab a bite to eat at the bar to continue your dive stories of the day and it will be waitered over to you.
No dressing up for dinner either, this is a resort that is catering for divers, they know how much we struggle with excess luggage. The food is exceptional, as good if not better than you would find in any fine dining restaurant. The chef is a philippine, who studied his trade in germany for 30 years, his & his teams desserts are to die for.
The dive centre is managed by a english man called Adam, one of the nicest guys you will ever met.If there is anything you are concerned about this man will sort it out. There were a couple of big groups diving when i was there but i was put with one or two divers on our own boat with a guide each. These local guides will find the smallest creatures you have seen from 20m away.We even had 6 different species of frogfish on one dive. The micro diving is excellent i would say on par with Lembeh Straits but you also have excellent coral reefs like Apo Island and large shoals of fish like the barracuda’s etc..
If you do stay at this resort please no not miss out on diving the house reef,it is absolutely fantastic,so many things to see big and small.
I would highly recommend this resort to both divers and non divers especially as i have stayed in and dived with numerous resorts all over the world.I would without doubt rate this resort in my top 10. A big thank you to all the staff for a very memorable holiday.

This resort is totally oriented for divers, so if spending most of your time under water is not your idea of a holiday you may consider a different accommodation. For those who love diving, this is a great place to stay at.
There are plenty of guides and they offer dives all day, including day trips to Apo Island.
The service is really good and the setting is beautiful, with the bungalows settled along a manicured garden.
Dumaguete is around half an hour from the resort. They offer a very expensive transfer (700 pesos pp) but buses pass by the door very frecuently and they charge just 20 pesos.

Hi Chus,
Thank you for your kind review of Atmosphere - we are happy to hear that you enjoyed it! because Atmosphere has only a limited number of vehicles, we often have to rent vans to accommodate guests who want to go to the city. However, we have recently added a service where guests pay only 300 pesos when one of our vans are going and as they leave frequently, there is usually space for our guests. So hopefully you can take advantage of this if you visit us again.
To entertain non-divers, our full-service Spa, daily Yoga classes, daily excursions to lakes, markets, the city, hot springs and waterfalls - as well as the infinity pool - are present in the resort. We are always working on extending our guest services to make everybody's stay enjoyable and there will be even more facilities added within the next year!
