“Ideal base for paradise caves and phong nga caves”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

This hotel is usually where all expats stay. Most only stay for one night as there's not a whole lot to do here. There's a nice market along the riverfront and the view from hotel balcony along the river are great and the bridge lit up at night is a sight to see.

The rooms are really modern with 2 bathrooms, lots of space and new air con units.

But the real reason to stay here is as a base for trips to either the huge paradise caves or to kayak through the phong nga caves which are about 40 mins away by bus or bike.

If you have your own bike, some people locate themselves in a farm stay closer to both caves, but if you have no bike, stay in this hotel as it's central and they organise sleeper buses for your next town, either north or south. Its cheap price and had no problems with my one night stay!!!!

Excellent hotel, decent rooms, great service. The tour is good and they try to help you even when they dont make money from you.

The breakfast isnt big and my room was the one downstairs, so it was noisy, but i still consider it a pleasant stay

We stayed at Nam Long as a base to explore the Phong Nha national park and caves. The dorm room was on the top floor and had a balcony overlooking the waterfront, aircon and was spotlessly clean. We booked a tour through the hostel to visit the caves which cost 8

We got the top floor room with great views but without elevator. Fifth floor. The room was clean and big enough. Bathroom was fine. We booked the cave tours from there. After looking for other places to have dinner, we stayed in the hotel.

From my point of view, this hotel is more young couples and backpackers.

Room Tip: Better choose the top floor. Some of the others are interior rooms.

Stayed here 3 nights after Hanoi. Great little hotel with some real character, which is often lacking in Vietnam at cheaper places. Rooms were very spacious, clean, great showers, A/C worked brilliantly. Views from some rooms are spectacular. Food was generally reasonable; quick and cheap.
Tours to caves booked through here were really laid back, unlike some other tours available in busier towns in Vietnam.
Breakfast is not included, but is relatively cheap and filling. The staff were really great, most speaking good English and very helpful. Mrs Nga even has some fruit for me to try from garden!
Location wise, it is where you want to be; close to the bridge with Nhat Le beach a short walk away, and the seafood strip 5 minutes away to the north.
Overall, probably the best hotel in Dong Hoi!

Room Tip: It gets really busy here, so always try and pre-arrange a booking if possible.

Stayed at Nam Long 3 or 4 nights ago for one night. It's a family run business and they are more than happy to help you with whatever questions you have such as booking bus travel, getting to Phong Ngha national park etc. Although there isn't a great deal to do in Dong Hoi (depending on what you're looking for as the beaches are nice), I would advise getting mopeds from Nam Long for 200,000 Dong per bike. Also the top floor dorm has a brilliant balcony and view of the water and surrounding area.

The staff are really friendly, the food is great, and the rooms are well looked after. There is WiFi throughout although it proved a little tempremental at times in the rooms. The A/C in the Double room on the top floor was ok, you won't freeze in your sleep but once it got going the room was nice.Give it 30 mins. The 'common area' was great, and there wasn't a single person in there that didn't say hello. There isn't much to see apart from the caves and they can organise a map and some bikes to make this happen. There is a nice pool and resort near the beach if you find yourself at a loss for things to do.We stayed for two nights.

When you get off the train, (if you get the train) they are about 3km away, walk out of the station and torn left ... walk 100m ish , left again at the first junction walk over a flyover (over the railway tracks), follow the road (1st exit at the roundabout), and continue till you see a bridge on your left with about with 3 tonnes of LED lights on it, turn left towards it, just before getting on the bridge turn left again. After the fork in the road which has a sign for the hotel on it...stick to the right (along the river) ( opposit the bombed out church) the place is the first on the left with a big red and white ;'HOTEL sign'.

Room Tip: The top double room was a little warm but the A/C did eventually cool it down.
