“Excellent Place to be in Gangtok”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

We had a lovely stay of 5 days at Hidden Forest Retreat in Gangtok in September 2010. A extremely comfortable place, great food and above all, a very cordial family to take care of you.

A little distance from the main city centre adds to the value. Photography enthusiasts will require one full day to cover the orchids and other vegetation within the premise.

A definite place to stay if exploring Sikkim.

We stayed at Hidden Forest for a couple of nights and loved it. The rooms are basic but adequate, the view from the room was wonderful. The staff are great and cater to your every need, while sitting using the Internet we were always offered tea and coffee. The meals are excellent and the garden is a magical place with thousands of orchids amongst lots of other plants and trees including fruit trees and a great vegetable garden. I would recommend this hotel without a moments hesitation. Getting into town is very easy using a share taxi. We loved Gangtok and the hidden forest.

There was a big group of us staying for 2 weeks, the hospitality of all the staff, especially Kesang was fantastic! The food was absolutely DELICIOUS and the surroundings were perfect. The view over Gangtok was an amazing site! If you ever needed anything they were always willing to help! Plenty of Taxi's pass which can take you to town quickly. An overall amazing experience and I would highly recommend staying here!

We had a wonderful time at this homestay. The food is just awesome and it is so easy to put on weight here !!! For a retreat in the city this place has so many plants / flowering shrubs that it feels like a green haven away from it all. It is very nice to sit soaking the winter sun on the open terrace with some nice hot tea :)

The people were very courteous and the rooms were clean. All in all - definitely a fantastic place to stay. I have already recommended it to any people visiting Gangtok.

Stayed there with my wife in Nov 12 for three nights. Really nice rooms, very comfortable. The place is beautifula and really a-one-of-a-kind establishment. They grow all sorts of flowers and vegetables and you fee like staying there forever. The staff, particularly the two Lepcha sisters, are very very courteous, affectionate and caring and treat you warmly and with a genuine smile no matter what you request. we have never seen such caring people anywhere else. Mrs. Lachungpa is motherly in her treatment towards all guest and her daugter Kesang is so friendly that you feel you have known her aor ages! Food is delicious though not too much choice for lunch and dinner. The pancakes in breakfast were by far the best I have ever had anywhere in India. Our request for the local millet liquor 'chhang' was also met and it is really nice and definitely worth a try or towo or three.... The overall ambience of this place is so amazing that we refused to venture out for any sightseeing for one full day and just spent the day resting and soaking in the surroundings. angtok is the only place we will return to again and that too not for the sightseeing but for a longer stay at the resort. Hopefully, the prices will remain the way they are and the we will get a chance to go through some of the books in the well stocked library!

Hello,
I and my wife reached Hidden Forest on 22/10. For the next four days, we were in paradise. To begin with-within 2 days,we put on a few kilos as the food was awesome! Secondly, The view from our room was too good to be true. Rooms were neat and clean. Service was prompt and courteous. Valley of flowers around, just adds to the charm of this place. Being centrally located, the local market is 10 min away and is easily accessabile through sharing taxis. Kesang and the ever smiling staff are amazing hosts.

Thank you for making our honeywoom trip so memorable- Minal & Rajat

An excellent choice for stay in Gangtok, away from the busy and crowded MG road area. The rooms are very nicely designed on the sloping terrace of a hill and has a large garden (and a nursery) full of flowers, herbs and orchids. The property faces a misty valley with great views (but not of Kanchenjunga). The rooms were well appointed and clean - a child bed/foldaway sofa was provided on request. Overall the owners seem to have put a lot of thoughtful effort in this place. It has two great dining areas - one on a open terrace and one well appointed interior dining room. The library at the basement level has an excellent collection of books - including many on Sikkim. The food, served family style (chef/cook decides menu for each dinner or breakfast) was excellent with pleasant service by the friendly staff. This hotel/B&B is in the Sichey Busty (Village) and it cost us about Rs60-100 for a one way taxi to the central MG road area. Given an opportunity, will definitely stay here again.
