“Really worth....”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

We visited Gangtok in March 2013 and were allotted the Room 404 (Valley View Suite Room). The room was really nice and spacious, very well maintained. The view from the room was of the valley below and the Sikkim Stadium along with the rows of houses. It was truly a good room with a view, only drawback was the bathroom was too small.

Our's was room with a breakfast plan, the first 2 days we got menu card to order our breakfast, the last day was a buffet breakfast, with aloe vera juice, which i had for the first time and I should say, it was really good. The breakfast was a good spread of cream rolls, banana walnut cake, cookies, bread, eggs to order, puri sabji, cereals, muesli and milk. We had all our dinners in the restaurant and the local cuisine is a must try, we had the Ema Datchi and local meal set on our first night there and it was awesome, everyone should try the food. The second night dinner was disappointing, we had asked for grilled fish and got grilled chicken and the mashed potatoes had a hair in it, which was really disappointing to the good food they had prepared. Also, keep in mind, the food takes a long time to prepare, since it freshly cooked, so it would be a good idea to order a starter or a drink to pass your time till the main course.

The staff was very cordial and always ready to provide us with any help required. I mostly interacted with Rumen and Dev. Rumen helped us plan our trip to Baba Mandir and Tsongmo Lake and also the local sight seeing, which was done on a very competitive prices and would beat the STDC Tourism price for the same sight seeing trip.

Overall, I really liked the hotel and would surely recommend this hotel for the awesome stay and beautiful service of the people.

Room Tip: Valley View Rooms are good.

I went to sikkim with my husband during early march 2013 , weather was good . We searched a lot of hotels on net and finally one day before arrival we booked nettle and fern.
They had a vehicle coming to bagdogra so we got picked up at pretty reasonable rate and even got our room which was delux non valley view 302 at reasonable discount. Mr. Avinash was helpful.
first day we had our dinner at their restaurant. The interior was done nicely giving look of american cafe. we ordered the local food which was good specially the gundruk soup the local food is a must try here.
we stayed from 2/3/13to 5/3/13 then again we opted for nettle n fern on our visit back from north sikkim . 2nd time we got room on the top floor which has a huge balcony which faces the valley if u are lucky u can get view of mountains we were not that lucky but we had a good view
.
the food was good, we had the breakfast included in the plan so we had 3 days breakfast buffet , which was nicely laid and u have indian, american n english option.
we enjoyed our breakfast .

the location is like 10 mins drive from Mg Marg you get a share taxi right in front of the hotel which charges 15 rs and if individual taxi which is called reserved will cost 60 rs max.

the interior is done very nicely the lobby is small but cute with wi fi connection ,there is a SBI atm in the building which is a added virtue

they arrange your local travel and even trip to north sikkim. we got our local travel booked by them but north sikkim we searched and booked, we found them little pricey on the trip.

the staff is friendly and trustworthy. we lost our umbrella in one of their vehicle which they could not get back for us so they had promised to courier it lets see if i get my umbrella back.

i recommend this hotel cause it has everything which you will need. we look forward to our next visit to sikkim and if they return my precious umbrella we will stay with them again.

Room Tip: ask for room with valley view or top floor , no lift but top floor is worth a flight of stairs. very...

Very neat and clean and great place to stay. Stayed in top floor room (which is the picture on tripadvisor front page for this hotel) with Kanchenjunga mountain view. Owner Mr Naresh and the staff are very friendly and will go that extra mile to make you feel comfortable. They organised the pickup and all trips for us at competitive prices. Absolutely loved the restaurant setup, decor, menu and the food was delicious!
We had our 16 months daughter and we had no problems whatsoever. Will recommend it anyday.
The only downside is the location, MG marg is a walking distance but a tough one with steep uphills and downhills but it is a 5 min taxi ride away, so will recommend it anyday!

Room Tip: Top floor mountain view room

The hotel is full value for Money, location is good, nice, caring and friendly hotel staff. One can really enjoy the hotel stay without any tension in complete relax mood. The restaurant ambiance and the food quality is just amazing. View from hotel room and terrace is enchanting. I will definitely suggest and recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: One can book the non-view deluxe room on terrace (room no. 502). As its a non-view room, the cost is...

Ours was a long awaited tour and we had chosen NE as part of our trip a totally unknown territory.Fortunately, I was introduced to Naresh -Owner of Nettle and Fern by my sister who had visited Gangtok. The travel in NE India was planned and managed by Mr Naresh to absolute perfection right from Siliguri to Darjeeling to Gangtok and Nathula pass on Indo -China border . We stayed on the top floor in Nettle and Fern facing Football stadium and rooms are very well maintained. The service is marvelous and we felt the experience of "Athithiti Devobhava" from Hotel staff and people of North East .
Thanks to Naresh for making our trip so memorable and I will visit North east again.

Room Tip: Choose Room on the top most floor facing football stadium and enjoy tea watching football

First of all i want to thanks all the staff, who have made my stay a very memorable one. especialluy Avinash at the reception.

It is one of those places, where you get a very good vibe.

The place is 10 minutes from MG marg

I was staying in room no 403, the room had an awesum view. rooms were very clean, no distruption in water or electricity was there. only thing was the television size could have been better but never the less, chand pe bhi daag hote hain

My favorite part was the food, i am a complete foodie

Hats of to the person who has decided the menu, you get all the best thing from everywhere

the food was also delecious

Must Try: Em dachi, a bhutanese affair
The continental affair was also good, i will like to say at par with Mocambo (a restaurant in Kolkata), if not better.

The restaurant is done very tastefully, you will love to spend your evening there, the view is also very good

Thanks Naresh for putting such a beautiful property in Gangtok, only wish is, keep it affordable just like now.

Room Tip: please choose a room with view
