We recently stayed 3 nights at Tashi Tagey (originally we were only going to stay 2 nights) and loved our stay. The food was AMAZING - we ate here at least once a day! Make sure to ask for the "veggie momos" and the special homemade sauce. Our room was clean with a western style toilet and hot shower. We also had a TV in our room and had access to a computer in a shared great room. Gangtok was easily accessibe via taxi (50 INR for two people), which could be picked up across the street. The rooftop was great and we watched the sunset every night while drinking tea. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this hotel to all of our friends and family!

Room Tip: Get a room away from the road due to heavy traffic.

We four of our freinds stayed for three days in this hotel. A beautiful hotel with good views.
Managed by a couple of that place. The rooms are quite large, with all essential aminities. The serve good home made prepartion food, which is unforgetable. They arange local site seeing and drop to Siliguri to catch train or flight.Good Vlaue for money.

Room Tip: East side rooms have good views. Allways have some money in hand, many ATM s not functioning, for a...

Our first visit to Sikkim was a very memorable one and was made more memorable by our stay at Tashi Tagey . We had booked the hotel after reading reviews by other guests and we were not in the least bit disappointed . We booked the hotel through makemytrip.com .and on contacting the hotel prior to our departure they advised regarding the mode of transport and cost from NJP . We arrived at the hotel after a long journey in a cab very tired and extremely famished at 4 pm and inspite of passing lunch time the hosts made a very nice lunch for us . The proprietor whom I ended up calling uncle was a very sweet man and his wife was the sweetest and took care of us like family . Uncle even arranged and negotiated a cab for us for local sightseeing and aunty prepared us a carrybag of sandwiches even without us asking for one . The best part was he was constantly in touch with the driver to show us all the important spots .
The next day they arranged a trip for us to Nathula with a good driver and at a well negotiated price ,they evn packed lunches for us - very tasty aloo parathas .
All in all Tashi Tagey was a home away from home where one can feel safe, comfortable and enjoy their vacation without any hassles .

Room Tip: Rooms are all very big and well maintained .

This is one of very few hotels where you get homely Feeling. They are conviniently located on National Highway. 3 Kms before Main area of Gangtok its called Tadong.
Mr Dorji n his wife are very warn & welcoming people. They are very open to discussions if the guests are interested & they also give guest complete privacy if they are not interested.

One should not compare this place to fancy hotels. But they have cosy rooms, neat n clean bathroom cleaned everyday. You get towels, toiletries etc. No heater in the room, but blankets are good enough to keep you warm. tea is served in the room, but for food you have to come down to Dinning area. Food is made to order & as per your choice.

They are very helpful in guiding you across the town & with any kind of transportation arrangement.

We Enjoyed our stay. We surly miss them- Uncle n Aunty as we fondly called them.

Shared taxis are easy to get from main road & you can reach main areas (M G ROAD/ ropeway) of Gangtok within 5 mins. Tibetan centre & stupa are pretty close by. Rumtek Monastry is 45 mins drive.

Room Tip: ROOMS on higher floor have less noise more privacy. Don't miss the terrace garden

When we arrived to Gangtok we felt that we made a mistake when we have chosen this city to stay..until we came to this friendly and peacefull place. What I can recomend is to enjoy beautifull terrace on the roof with tasty "tibetian chaj", great meal at the inside restaurant and don´t forget to ask for amazing dessert after you finish your dinner :) Everything you will get with warm smile of tibetian landlady.

I had not the feeling to be in an hotel rather it was like arriving by old friends. The room was spacious, the food very wealthy and lots of variety. Since I cannot eat everything, Nyima cooked a bit apart for me and I can say: it was delicious.

To arrive in the center one can take a taxi for 20 rupee. Those taxis are regullarly passing along the hotel. Thank you Dorjee and Nyima.

Room Tip: The room was very nice but I saw no other rooms, thus cannot compare. But I don't doubt they are...

We stayed in this B&B for one night only as our travel plans were changed and we needed a place for the extra night in Gangtok. This homestay is not close to M G Marg but on the NH-31, however, frequent taxis are available throughout the day on seat basis. We had booked one of the larger rooms as we were three adults and I must say the room was much bigger than some 3* hotels we had booked during this trip. The service we received was awesome, even though we were staying only for a night. We reached post noon and immediately was served hot tea and then lunch on request. The owner negotiated a cab for us to travel to Pelling the next day, and at a much cheaper rate. He even called up the hotel in Pelling to arrange for a cab from Pelling to Siliguri as it was Dussera time and finding cabs to SIliguri would be a problem. We were pleasantly surprised when in the evening the owner and his son brought in an extra bed with blankets and linen, and not just a mattress, again a very welcome upgrade from what was provided in most big hotels we booked during this trip. The food was home cooked and delicious though a tad pricey, but that maybe because they charge by meals and not by individual dishes which doesn't benefit small eaters like us. Overall, a pleasant stay and good memories.
