It's not very often that I rate restaurants 5-star, but La Villa truly deserves top-notch rating. Not only is this a romantically candle-lit oasis of calm away from street honking, but it also serves Pondicherry's best dinner. I chose crab soup for starter, followed by slow-cooked slipper lobster then Indian chai panna cotta: three courses for a total of about 25USD. Value-for-money is amazing and service is superb and not too intruding. So how else could I give this place less than 5 stars? In May, the mango season, you might be able to taste La Villa's fantastic mango dessert, with mango mousse, mango sorbet, mango sago, fresh mango (locally grown at the property) and coconut crumble. This is (tropical) heaven I can't wait to go back!
