“place to see in Pondicherry”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Paradise Island or Chunnambar lake is a good place to spend time in Pondichery. It is just with 10Km drive from Pondicehrry on the Cuddalore highway . It will come on the left side and you have car parking at the entrance . Adults are charged 20rs for entrance, car parking 25 and camera 50. The Boat charges to go to island has to be taken inside and price has gone up drastically after the recent strike . It is 150rs per head . Kids below 6 are avoided from this charge . The drive is intersting and nice breeze will make you really thrilled ..

Couple of things you can take while travelling here ..

Take enough eateries and water . The shops in the beaches are not that good and you dont have any other option .
Take towel and clothes to change . The beach is very good and nice sand .. you will definitely feel like playing .
take caps and sunglasses.
plan to go in the morning time . It starts at 9.30 am . evening it closes by 4 pm .

To my strange , I found one well which is open and very scary . I have took a snap of the same and it would good authorities close this out from such a tourist place . Request all travellers to be careful if you are travelling with kids

There are some kids ride available and which you can try while coming back based on the energy left for kids .

Plan to return for lunch to Pondhicerry , you cant get anything near by so good . While returning back one security guard of boat house asked additional money while takig the car out . This is some thing which could be avoided in such a tourist place

overall it is good to spend some time here in your pondichery trip .

“Excellent view, but needs to be maintained”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

We visited the beach in the evening and it was very crowded the view of the Bay of Bengal is particularly pleasing to the eyes from this beach. However with few foodstalls operating here and people stewing around food here and there, it needs to be kept clean to enjoy its full beauty

“The best timewe had in Pondi was here”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Amazing place... less crowded. clean. had an amazing experience. The beach is accessible via boats from Chunambar. It's my first time visiting a back water lake and beach. They have provided a very basic bathroom where you can take a shower after a dip into the sea. We got very hungry and had fried rice and chicken lollypop. Maybe it was hunger, but the food tasted really good.

“Less crowded than the Town seafront, and an enjoyable boat trip to get there”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

With the heavy boulders of the breakwater at the town seafront, there is no way that you can swim there. Paradise Beach, about half an hour away by car, then a 20-minute boatride, provides that opportunity. There is a beach shack for food and drinks but little else. Nice walk along a sandy seafront for about a kilometre, but that's it.
