Prince Park Farm House
Reviewed December 30, 2013

We stayed there recently for a couple of nights and the experience was very different... On the positives, it's a very beautiful and large farm with lush greeneries, lovely pool, nice garden, ideal place for walkers and Joggers and also can indulge in outdoors like cricket/volleyball and badminton...the stay was very relaxing and pleasant.. Also service is very good and the people are very polite and friendly....

On the improvent areas, we were shocked to see the cottages were not concreted fully which means u will find it open partially in all sides and will see quite a few lizards, bugs, insects into your room and you should be lucky if it doesn't fall on you while your asleep...I have passed on the feedback to the management and hope they fix it soon.. If they can fix this, I would not stay Anywhere else in Pondy....

I just returned from my 3 day long trip to Pondicherry and I wanted to write this quickly for the benefit of others. When I was looking for a stay in Pondi, all I was getting in the range of Rs. 5k to 8k and suddenly, I found Prince Park in my range of Rs.2k. I was bit skeptic on the quality till I reach there. But, after I reached there, within 2 hrs we decided to extend the stay by additional day. This is a "cool" place with nicely maintained ambiance and clean swimming pools. The staff is very coordial including house keeping, front-desk, security and room service. though place is isolated from city, it feels safe as most of the co-occupants were family with kids.

Anybody going to Pondi, I would 100% recommend this place.

Room Tip: If you are group of families, you can go for a full Bunglow hire. If you one or two families, stayin...

The hotel is well maintained. We stayed in the non a/c cottages which are pretty basic but sufficient if you are small family. It seems to be a part of a larger farm so there are lots of trees and the garden is also well maintained. We were two families travelling with children and the kids had a great time.

Location

It is a little off ECR road. The roads are a little narrow reaching until the farm house. There are a few signboards that lead you to the place, but you need to look out for them. Google maps is able to locate the exit from ECR road properly, but after that the turns that it suggest don't seem correct. Just follow the signboards or ask someone. We took the road from Tiruvannamalai via Gingee to Pondicherry. The road is under widening, but there are some stretches which are really well done. We did the 100km distance in about 2hrs. They have sufficient parking inside the premises though it is a little far from the cottages.

Since it is off from the city, there are no lights on the roads. And you are woken up not only to the sounds of the birds but also the chants from a local temple. The night sky view from the rooms is clear and you can see a lot of stars.

Rooms

Rooms are quite basic. The bed in built on a platform in the room. Extra beds if required are placed on the ground. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Geysers are provided in the bathrooms. We did not feel the need for an AC. it was quite cold in the nights as there are no shutters on the windows. We had a rat come into the room when we were away; it had nibbled pieces of an apple and left. The lighting is a little poor in the room. It can be a challenge to read a book in the light. They have provided a table lamp which can be used for that purpose. The rooms are not sound proof, our kids hollering in the night could be heard quite far.

Service

The staff is very sincere and tried their best to make our stay comfortable. I felt they were a little short staffed as room service gets a bit slow. There is no intercom. Each room has a list of mobile numbers that we need to contact in order to order food or housekeeping.

Activities

The biggest attraction is their pool, They have two and these are well maintained. There are two separate children's pools other than the two main pool. Apart from these some indoor games are available, but we did not try these. They have a small duck pond with some ducks and a few guinea fowls in the farmhouse. Tree climbing is another activity which our children enjoyed.

Food

Breakfast was a South Indian buffet spread. Mostly, idly/vada/sambar/chutney/pongal. The variety was good and the food was tasty. They do have some cornflakes and bread with preserves also in case you are not happy with the South Indian spread. They don't seem to have filter coffee and we had to make do with Nescafe. We only had lunch on one occasion and it was reasonable.

Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would very recommend this place. I am hesitating to give it 5 stars as there is still scope for improvement but it is a place I would love to go back.

Service levels are excellent and very helpful staff. The resort was neat and clean, and well maintained. The room where we stayed were basic but clean and tidy. Swimming pool was clean and well maintained. The resort was peaceful and quite relaxing which helped to unwind. A good place to stay and take a good break from the hectic life. Easy availability of two wheeler to travel across. Get the location of the resort by calling the resort, they will guide you properly. Autos are very expensive.

Room Tip: For couples choose cottage to stay, as they are surrounded by greenery.

It was a shock at first after hustle and bustle of delhi, but its a beautiful and well maintain place. People were very polite and nice, but had to struggle with making them understand what we want, the language barrier :).
