“Complete peace of mind and soul..”
Reviewed May 18, 2014

The Perumal Koil as locals call it, is a beautiful place to lighten your heart and cleanse your soul.

Whenever I feel I need peace of mind, I go for a prayer to this temple of Lord Varadaraja Perumal and instantly I get what I go to get.

The Panduranga sannathi & Anjaneyar (Hanuman) sannathi are beautiful too.

The architecture of this temple will remind you of the French past of Puducherry.

The temple Pond or the Pushkarni as it is called is clean and serene. Do not forget to carry a pack of Bread or Biscuits for the fish here.

Lots of good vibrations inside.. must see temple on Mission street. Has both Shiva and Parvathi, and Lord Venkateshwara (this priest seems to be very sincere). Nice temple with lots of goodness inside.

“SRI VARADRAJA PERUMAL TEMPLE-A TEMPLE OF HINDU’S SUPREME GOD VISHNU-HARI-NARAYAN”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

This is one of the oldest and the biggest temples of the Pondicherry-about 800 years old, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Located at the busy Mahatma Gandhi Road of the city.We reached here at 10 AM, because its opening timings are 6 Am -12 Am then 4 PM to 9 PM. There is big gate at the entrance with very high Gopuram (Spire), constructed in typical Dravidian style, but with a difference from other temples. This was the only temple which remained unfettered from the attack and destruction of the invading rulers. Deity inside sanctum sanctorum is of Lord Vishnu, who is supreme God of Hindus, also called ,Narayan , Hari or Parmatma. According to the Hindu mythology, whole universe was created by Lord Bramha at the behest of Him. It is sustained and maintained by Him. He is sahastranama (having one thousand names), will have total ten incarnations. Lord Ram is His 7th incarnation, Lord Krishna is 8th and Lord Buddha is 9th-His tenth incarnation will be as Lord Kalki-Vishnu at the end of current Yug, Kaliyug. . On entering inside you’ll see a big pillar like structure then there is pipe barricading to make order of Q, Today there was no crowd so we had good darshan within fifteen Mnts time. Lord Vishnu’s idol was about 5 feet’s in height with two white Tilak on the His forehead. He looked very cute and charming, as if showering blessings upon us. After this we came out and took a round of the gallery, watching His many forms, depicted by the statues. His typical form is, having four arms with Conch( Panchajanya Sankh) in His Lt upper arm, Wheel/ Chakra(Sudarshan Chakra) in His Right upper arm then Gada(sriking weapon) in His Lt lower arm and having Lotus (Padma) in His Right lower arm in blessing pose. This was the most easy and satisfying and spiritual visit in minimum time.
