Rooms are nice and the place would be nice as well if it was clean in the common area and staff would be motivated. The common area was not cleaned and a mess in the backyard. The staff did what they have to do but not more. wifi did not work when we were there. the reservation they did not know about. we did not feel very welcome. would choose another guesthouse next time i come to ponycherry.

Visited Villa Christophe in Feb 2012 with a bunch of friends, and we ended up being really glad we chose this place. Caretakers Martin and specifically Babulal were extremely courteous, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.

The villa itself is beautiful and if you're intending on taking all 3 rooms (which is what we did) then its great because you'll be able to enjoy the nice common space with the lovely French doors. Each of the 3 rooms has its own colour scheme and design.

We found the villa affordable, and it is located in the heart of the French quarters. We were able to take a stroll down to the beach in the night, and were close enough to some nice eating places like The Promenade.

Great experience, and I'd love to visit again.

As good as the pictures look :) The location is pretty close to the beach, and to all the finest dining places. The rooms are very spacious, and every effort is made to keep it clean and make your stay comfortable. Highly recommended!

After a lot of thought and online research, we picked Villa Christophe for a short vacation of 2 days. One of the first things that hit us was that the place looked exactly like how it did on the website. It had 3 rooms and each one of them was very tastefully designed. It so happened that when we visited the entire place was vacant. So it was almost like we had the entire place to ourselves. The place is impeccably nested far away from the hustle and bustle on pondicherry but still pretty close to the beach and promenade. The locality itself was very posh and quiet when compared to the rest of the city. It was an absolute bliss to take an early morning walk on the beach, and then come back to a very welcoming breakfast.
Service was top notch. Never have we seen better hosts than Babulal and Martin. From serving breakfast to giving us directions, they were perfect. To our surprise they even gave our car a wash.
We stayed at The Hibiscus for 2 days and it was worth every penny. The space was much bigger when compared to the other 2 rooms and it was ever so comfortable. We also took a look at the other 2 rooms. The Jasmine was very classy and unconventional and our only regret was that we didn't get to spend a day at the Jasmine.
We'd definitely come back soon, and make sure we get to experience a stay at Jasmine as well! Overall, a very cozy and peaceful stay!

Room Tip: The Jasmine if you are looking for something unconventional / The Hibiscus if you want a spacious ro...

Villa Christophe had added a charm our stay in Pondi...A perfect place in the heart of the French Colony...amidst the city centre yet serenity prevailed.
Firstly the place is exactly same as the pics posted in the website(which is very rare). It is a beautifully furnished and decorated villa with just 3 rooms. It is a perfect place for couples to stay in with your privacy being respected everytime.never before did we feel so homely.
The hotel has a great value for money.we stayed in jasmine rooms worth 3000 Breakfasts being included within the tariff.
All the tourist places are in a walking distance from the villa and if one wants they can hire cycla or bike by paying a mere amount, like us
Worth mentioning about the care takers-Babulal and Martin who seemed to be ready to lend ther helping hands at any time of the day be whatever problem it is.
Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our stay thoroughly and are waiting to go back again and again...

We stayed at Villa Christophe for a leisurely 5 days on a babymoon. We were already quite charmed by the lovely pictures on the website and the value for money aspect. We were really pleasantly surprised to find the place as charmingly French as the pictures suggested. Its a beautiful old villa with 3 rooms, period furniture and a really relaxed old world vibe.
The price was almost too good to be true, 3500 for the hibiscus room with breakfasts included!
The breakfast was probably what we enjoyed the most- it was fabulous to laze over the meal, with toast, jams from auroville, eggs and tea and the most impeccable and friendly service from Martin and Babulal.

The location in the midst of the French Quarter is really quite spectacular. It's a short walk to the Promenade. The promenade itself is very crowded, so while its a nice walk most days it could turn into a nightmare if you stayed in any of the beachfront hotels. Villa Christophe is a little oasis of peace away from the hustle and bustle. All the good eating places and art galleries are a short walk/ auto ride away.

food and art-I'd definitely recommend Don Giovanni for the fabulous Italian food and the rooftop bar at the Promenade for the ambience. On the art front, Pondy is the best place to buy antiques cheap-found some great value deals in Cafe des Arts, La Maison Rose and some of the tiny places like Madame Shanthi on Bussy Street.

Would strongly recommend!
