Just a splendid location. Great accommodation and lovely food. All bound together by cloudless sunny days. A memorable holiday jay yards from a soft sandy beach which is gently graded with warm water. A dip at sunrise (7.45) is just heavenly. The hotel gardens had sufficient beds although in the usual manner these were "reserved" early on but for those who have complained perhaps getting up a little earlier and just relaxing in the early warm sun would be a good plan. It's plain that this hotel is well liked as many people had visited on many occasions. Good choice

A lovely holiday with my husband and grandson (11) this was our second visit we were given a seaview room at no extra cost last year we were given a junior suite at no charge we asked for this again and were prepared to pay but were told they were occupied so we were given the seaview upgrade for free, really friendly staff.the resort is quiet but that is why we returned.
Only one small issue with people reserving sunbeds at about 7:30 each day and not turning up until afternoon to lie on them.We seem to be as bad as nationalities we once criticised.
Nice indoor pool and jacuzzi we used this several times as my grandson loved it.
More young children this year than before as it is a safe beach and lifeguards always patrolling even clean wc area just off the beach for free which is not always available in other countries.
good local bus stop makes it easy to explore the other ares of the island. All in all a lovely hotel that does its best for its guests
We will definitely be back and am looking forward to it.

Our first impressions were not favourable (although after a day or so this did change). At the time of booking we paid a supplement for a sea-view room - we ended up being allocated a room overlooking rooftops and a wooded hillside. No sign of any sea-view from within the room although there was a “side sea view” from the balcony.

Other things we were less than impressed with were the ceiling tiles in the bathroom which flapped up and down like seagulls’ wings whenever there was a breeze, the thin dividing walls between rooms (and lack of soundproofing) and the cheap quality of some of the room furnishings.

To their credit, when we complained about the absence of a sea view, the front desk didn’t quibble (their attitude was if we weren’t happy then neither were they) and we were re-allocated another room the next day.

Also the food in the buffet style restaurant was somewhat variable, particularly in the evenings. Although there was a good selection of choices available, the quality of some of the dishes was either very ordinary or very good (we liked some of the Menorcan dishes). On one evening, one of the kitchen staff purporting to be a chef (but who I suspect was, in reality, a kitchen hand standing in whilst the chef was on a break) “griddled” me a steak which had more "marbling" than Michelangelo’s statue of David. The resulting slice of entrecote was as tough as “boots of Spanish leather” – on each evening it was usually possible though to find something acceptable on offer.

As the week went on we were won over by the warmth and friendliness of all of the staff that we met throughout the hotel who were hard working and exceptional in their efforts to provide service with a smile which was very nice. Also the hotel was spotlessly clean everywhere. As we explored the area we grew to like the location with some good walking opportunities nearby and very convenient for buses to other parts of the island.

Things that we liked:

- Location - on a rocky headland between two excellent beaches
- From our room and around the gardens, the sound of the waves on the beach and the rocks
- Excellent staff – always a smile and a friendly greeting
- Views from the room that we ended up in
- Big comfortable bed
- Breakfast served until 10:30 (we struggled every day to get up before 09:00)
- Excellent breakfast omelettes
- Excellent large swimming pool
- Spacious and well kept garden (with usually a few “un-reserved” sun loungers available)
- Snack bar on the promenade - sharing a pizza and a salad at lunchtime - enjoying a chilled glass of cava at sundown
- Wide selection of food choices at dinner
- Nightcaps on the terrace before bedtime
- Excellent spa area (although we only managed to get to use the indoor pool)
- The laid back informality of the hotel and the high standards of cleanliness and tidiness.

Things that we didn’t like so much:

- Some aspects of the bedrooms and bathrooms and room furnishings appeared tired and dated
- Bedrooms and bathrooms not particularly well-soundproofed with thin dividing walls
- Having to pay to use the room-safe [in a four-star hotel this ought to have been included within the room-rate]
- The inconvenience of having to carry a room-safe key around [we’ve grown used to using room-safes with combination locks]
- No tea making facilities in the bedroom [although we did enjoy tea on the terrace]
- Sun loungers being reserved by very many people from early in the morning
- The behaviour of some [but not all] of the more regular guests “brown-nosing” the restaurant staff for preferential treatment – tables located next to windows etc

Overall we quite liked the Hotel Santo Tomas. Despite some of the outdated aspects of the hotel it merits its four star rating due mainly to its excellent staff and the spa and pool facilities.

Would we consider staying again? Yes, if we decide to return to Menorca I think we quite probably would

Room Tip: Speak to the front desk straightaway if you're less than happy - in our case we were pleased wit...

We have just returned from our 2 week holiday at the Hotel Santo Tomas and the experience was enjoyable but have a couple of suggestions........I completely agree with David from Preston on his accurate review of the hotel. The sunbed situation was absolutely appalling, for the 2 weeks we were there we watched guests 'reserve' their sunbeds every morning, by 7.30am 90% all the sunbeds were 'reserved' by placing towels on them, however when we (myself and family) had finished breakfast and wanted to sit by the pool we could not find an unoccupied sunbed anywhere, even though a huge regulations notice is placed near the pool stating not to reserve sunbeds. I approached 3 members of staff to address this, the first 2 members of staff commented they were unable to do nothing about it, and to tackle the situation would cause a 'riot'! However I then approached the manager. I pointed out the list of regulations to her, quoting a rule not to reserve sunbeds - she also said there was nothing she could do and that the hotel had tried several ways to resolve this problem but without success, then why make it a regulation?

Another suggestion would be to put kettles in the rooms.....maybe not providing tea/coffee, but guests could enjoy a tea or coffee of their choose first thing upon waking. On a very positive side the staff were excellent, special thanks to jan and joanne in the bar area, also Yomi in the restaurant who liked to test my limited spanish!! And Juan Ramon......... who does seem to be there 24hrs a day! The food was super - a varied selection of foods at breakfast and dinner - the omelettes and pancakes at breakfast were great! Fresh fruit was always available.
The hotel was very well positioned with direct access to the beach, the resort did not seem to be very busy considering it was August and we did have a very relaxing holiday and certainly would consider going back. To add another comment - it was entertaining to listen to the returning guests who had been to the hotel year after year!

Room Tip: We had a room facing the road, it was very quiet and although we kept the AC on low the room was alw...

Having our daughter and grandaughter with us we welcomed the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel and its excellent location. Santo Tomas is definitely not for the busy nightlife seekers but is superb for families where parents seek some relaxation. The staff were friendly and courteous at all times and the hotel was clean with good food and very good choices every day. It was our first visit and we will most definitely return.
