“Second Visit!”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

We enjoyed our visit to Hamilton Court so much in October so thought we would love to return but at a different time of year. We have just returned from another two week break, 5th - 19th June. Just as good as our first visit and lovely to have the long sunny evenings this time. Yes, we will return again!

Room Tip: We requested an apartment with pool view. A quieter part of the complex! Staff are very helpful and...

My first thought was not to write a review and keep this hotel as a hidden secret but that is not fare to the hotel or its staff. We arrived at the hotel and the room was ready even though we had an early morning flight. the staff were very welcoming and the room had everything we could of asked for (apart from an electric kettle but that's not the end of the world). We travelled with 2 adults and 2 children aged 3 and 6. The pool had plenty of sun loungers, a baby pool that was plenty big enough for the little ones and a play area with sand that they loved. It was a stone throw away from the beach. the only problem we had was the weather had been unusually cold before we arrived so they had not had sun to warm anything up. The pool was freezing and the sea water had been that cold all the jellyfish had died and they were being swept up onto the beech so we were unable to use it. I must add though this is obviously no fault of the hotel!!! just be aware depending on the time of year you travel as we went in the spring bank break. the week we went however was lovely and just the right temperature for the children.

I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel!

Rooms are a little dated, however they are very clean and based on price then this apartment is excellent value for money, close to all amenities and staff are always friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment with Cot included at no extra cost. At the top end of the resort is the Victoria Playa which is a 4T Thomson family (All inclusive) hotel at the cost of €33 a day (adult) you can use the hotels facilities (Including all meals, snacks, drinks and more importantly unlimited ice cream). We will return to Santo Tomas next year but will probably stay at Victoria Playa due to having 2 small children however this is no reflection on Hamilton Court as anyone who wants to go self catering or has slightly older children then I would highly recommend the Hamilton Court

Our holiday was 1st October - 15th October and our first visit to Menorca and the Hamilton Court Apartments. We stayed in a spacious two bedroom apartment which was clean and equiped with all we needed. A perfect location right next to the beach. Anna, a receptionist was always so helpful and friendly. In fact all staff were always cheerful and friendly. Definately value for money and we hope to return!

we arrived at the Hamilton court appartments in Santo tomas menorca on wed 29th aug 2012 for 2wks. we booked from the thompsons brochure , the brochure said they were privately owned appts and they would differ in style but clean and comfortable which was ok .we were given appt 315 the lock on the door was very hard to use but we managed when trying to get out we couldnt because of a fire risk. the following day the locksmith had to come and change the lock .the decor was very very poor and we were shocked . the 2 settees in the living room were falling to bits with throws on them to hide the holes and broken zips on the covers .the foam was coming out of them underneath. the dining chairs were wicker and falling apart and were not suitable to sit on . you could see which appts were owned by the holiday company as these only had one wooden door onto the patio which had one small bolt on .this wasnot suitable for security . all other appts had double glazed patio doors. we were told only 10 percent were holiday appts.by a rep. the so called kitchen was dated like a 60 s beds i it . a kettle which had to be lit with a lighter and a gas cooker run off bottle gas . the kettle was red hot to pick up and all taps and fittings were brown and tarnished .we asked to be moved but was told by the young receptionist that this one we were in was better. we asked for a rep but was told there wasnt one and to go to the hotel up the road .when meeting the rep he said he couldnt deal with this and we had to ring a 24 hr help line .i asked im to do this .it was a no for the uk . the following day a rep came and said the appartment was poor she said she would get back to us with a move but didnt a note with a no was put under the door with a no which was a fax no . again we rang the 24hr helpline in england they said everwhere was full and the only thing they could offer was a 5 star all inclusive hotel and we would have to pay the same again or they would be out of pocket .we had already paid 1200 pounds and they wanted us to pay the same again which no one with the right mind would do . so we had paid for a 4 star appt and had a 1 star dump . the photos advertising these appts were false advertising as they showed only the private appts and not the holiday appts this is very misleading for holiday makers and we thought thompsons had good standards but we were wrong .

The complex like all the others in this resort are ideally located for the beach and resort amenitiesI stayed in a two bed roomed apartment which was clean ands well equipped. It was Apartment No.1 which is next to the restaurant and swimming pool. It had a small garden area overlooking the childrens play area. It is ideal for a family of four with a large lounge/dining area. My only adverse comment is that it could do with freshening up in places.
The restaurant/bar staff were very friendly and helpful .The menu prices/quality were comparable with other hotels i.e 8 to 15 euros for one course whereas other hotels /restaurants offered a Table De Hote menu charging three courses including wine for 15 eurosl
Surprisingly the Complex did not mention the extensive roof terrace which we had to ourselves
My only complaint was that we asked to change our room but were refused on the grounds that the complex was full which in my view was debatable. It would be a fair comment that most people would have been happy with our apartment but I would have preferred a room on the upper floors.

Room Tip: Try get a room on the upper floors with a sea view which I understand are popular.I agree with other...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with our 3 year old and 16 month old in September - since it was not school holidays, the resort was not busy (though other pre-schoolers around), which suited us perfectly.
We booked direct with the apartments, so were able to request a sea view apartment - the views were fantastic (410) with the beach just a short walk. Although the decor and fittings are slightly dated, all worked well (including good powerful shower). We also had a microwave & TV included (not sure if that is because we booked direct). Only downside was the lack of air-conditioning as mentioned by other reviewers, though in September this is less of an issue. Our apartment was serviced twice during our stay.
Facilities were great for pre-schoolers, with a toddler pool and small playground in a sandpit. Plus the apartments are next to the buffet complex which had a kids evening on one night (with bouncy castle etc).
Would recommend getting a hire car, as buses are infrequent, and Menorca has so many lovely beaches to explore. There were a few car hire places in Santo Tomas if you wanted to hire by the day and not for your whole trip.
