Spent two weeks at the Villa Mandi with hubby and three kids (Emily 9, Ben 6, William 2). We had the most amazing time for our first time on Tenerife. The hotel is wonderful - beautiful landscaping and layout, attentive and friendly staff, brilliant kids clubs and reps, fantastic pools. The only downside I can comment on is the food - the buffet was usually lukewarm (and not translated into English) and the bi-nightly menu was quite limited. But this was really the only downside I can name. The holiday as a whole was wonderful (we recommend Loro Park and Playa Vistas beach) and we fell in love with Tenerife (at the time of writing this we have been back 3 days and it has continuously rained for 30hrs!!)

We stayed at this complex for two weeks at the beginning of September, and I have to say we had a fantastic holiday. The apartment that we stayed in was absolutely huge, and it actually had a double bed which was a refreshing change from the twin beds that you nearly always get in apartments. There was also a very comfortable sofa bed in the lounge area which our daughter slept on - and slept very soundly at that!! We were on the ground floor, with a huge patio area and we were only 15 footsteps from the pool. Plus, we were right next to the kiddies splashpool and one of the kiddies climbing frames / slides and the kids club. Our daughter was only 2 at the time of our stay, so unfortunately was unable to join the Kids Club because the youngest age they take is 3. However, I have to say that she was not bored, as there is a creche, soft play and lots of toys to borrow from the kids club. The apartment and the whole complex was always kept very clean and tidy. Maids cleaned our room on a daily basis (except Sunday which is a well deserved day off for them). We always had clean towels and sheets, and the floors were always mopped. If you have any problems with the apartment, then the maintenance team are straight there to help you - very quick indeed. It is about a 20 minute walk into Los Cristianos but it is a very pleasant walk (not a walk across waste land like other reviews on this site have said). It is all pathways, and zebra crossings etc. A nice walk in the evening. Restaurants were all very reasonable, and we always found something we liked to eat. Even our little girl was spoilt for choice!! Reception staff were friendly and always helped with anything you needed. There is a free bus that goes to the beach twice in the morning and then brings you home in the afternoon, a nice ride on an air conditioned coach which our daughter absolutely loved!! Although the beach is very easily walkable too - being only 20 minutes or so from the complex. One down side is the bar prices and the supermarket prices. Both far too high which was very disappointing especially with the bar as having a young daughter, some nights we just wanted to get her in bed and have a few drinks on our patio. However, on the plus side we found a Mercadona supermarket which supplied us with all the cheap alcohol we needed!! I would recommend that you only use the on site supermarket for items that you desperately need, anything other than that I would say walk to the Mercadona which again is only 20 minutes away. Cabs cost approx 4 euros to get into Los Cristianos or Playa del la Americas. I would certainly come to this complex again as it catered for everything we needed, and we liked how a lot of entertainment was focused on the kids. Don't take everything to heart when reading bad reviews about this place - it is honestly very good value for money and if you have a young family, then this is the place to go. Enjoy your holiday!!

I've just returned from a week long break at these apartments with my parents (September 2012). We have had a lovely time. The Thomson reps were brilliant and although we had no children with us you could see that the kids entertainers were doing a brilliant job and the kids were having a lovely time!

The only downside was when we arrived at just after 12pm our room wasn't ready for us and we were told it was going to be an hour and a half until it was ready. We were told to leave our cases in reception and to go for a walk or get a drink. We weren't offered any free refreshments which would have been nice and made up for the inconvenience.

When we got into the one bedroom apartment is was massive! You could easily fit in a family of 5 whilst the children are little but if you're taking older children you will have plenty of room. The rooms are also clean and come with a large flat screen TV which has a number of channels in English. The rooms were always clean and the only day the cleaner didn’t come in which was Sunday which we were fine about. The apartments are also well equipped with microwave, hobs, kettle, saucepans, plates, bowls, glasses and mugs – the best equipment I’ve had in a self-catering apartment.

The apartments are quiet and the setting is lovely. The gardens are well maintained and the pool area is clean and tidy. The only downside is the sun loungers are really close together and there aren’t that many. I imagine in the middle of summer you would be lucky to get a sun lounger!

I will just point out that if you are unable to walk far or unwilling to walk far this isn’t the place for you! There are no restaurants or bars apart from in the hotels close by so you have at least a 20 minute walk to get to some. The walk is worth it though because when you get to the sea front it is worth it! The restaurants down there are lovely and the walk along the prom is beautiful. We got a taxi back one evening from the very end of the beach and it cost us 8 euros. There is also a free bus which runs from the hotel into town twice in the morning and will collect you again twice in the evening.

I definitely recommend this resort to families during the school holidays and then to couples and groups of friends outside of the school holidays.

On a final note I just want to say that the service you receive from Thomson reps and staff is 100% better than what you receive from Thomas Cook!

We went here for our 1st Family holiday and had an amazing time! We arrived on the 3rd of Aug for 1 week. When we arrived we were met by a lovely ladie on reception she explained the charges etc for TV, WI-FI and Safe we were then given the key to our room and showed the way. When entering our apartment room 305 we were greeted by a fantastic room! downstairs was a kitchen/dining area then a frontroom with balcony plus a double bedded room which had sliding doors to block out the living area the double room also had a balcony. There was also a bathroom downstairs. We the went up stairs to a magnificent room with a large bed HUGE balcony and en suite bathroom!

The apartment was VERY CLEAN and tidy could not find any fault at all! and i am the fussiest person ever! LOL.

There was a lovely park which is what our view from the balcony was and from the upstairs we had a view of the lovely golf course.

The Pool area's were lovely clean and we got 4 loungers everyday.

Food wasnt the best.. but was ok for day snacking.

During the day the kids club was always going on but we didnt send our children but others always looked like they were having fun, i cant really comment on the night entertainment as we only ever caught the very end of it where the reps do some dancing along to songs.

The apartment is far out from the main parts but we caught cab everyday to go for dinner, beach etc.. costs around 5 euros eachway but if you go to reception you can pay them and they will give you a slip which you give to the cab driver and then they cant rip you off!

I would most definetly stay here again we had an amazing time loved the apartment i want to go back!!

Room Tip: Room 305 lovely view excellent room!

We (my wife & I and our two sons aged 13 & 11) have just returned from a fantastic two week holiday at Villa Mandi.

Our apartment (129) was in a great location with a balcony overlooking the lower pool area. The apartment was in immaculate condition with a separate bedroom (with comfy beds), large bathroom and a sizeable living/kitchen area with sofa beds (which were fine for our sons).

The pool and surrounding area was really nice (although it could be a bit slippery). As others have mentioned sunbeds couldn't be reserved until they had finished cleaning the pool area so we joined the 9 a.m. rush to stake our claim for sunbeds. Overall however there seemed to be just about enough sunbeds for everyone.

The Thomson reps (Krazy Kayla, Zip Zap Zoe, Silly Milly and Rocking Rachel), who provided the entertainment around the pool, were excellent. They seemed to have boundless energy, always smiling and taking time to speak to everyone and provided a variety of activities to suit everybody(quizzes, water polo, table tennis, dancing and various silly games). It's difficult to choose but I think Krazy Kayla was our favourite!!

We weren't as keen on the evening entertainment which was indoors preferring to either go into town to eat (check out the Chill Out restaurant which we ate at 4 times!) or sit outside by the hotel bar.

We ate in the hotel restaurant a couple of times and it was perfectly acceptable but nothing special. The bar food was also fine - a pretty standard choice of burgers, hot dogs, pizza etc. The bar/restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient.

We didn't use the hotel shop much but we can recommend the fresh baked baguettes, pain au chocolat and croissants which we had for breakfast each day.

The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas - reasonably easy in the evening when it was cool but not to be recommended during the day when the sun was out. A taxi generally cost less than 5 euros but beware as some drivers took a longer route or added on a spurious extra charge to increase the cost.

Overall it was just a fantastic holiday - we are looking forward to returning soon!!

Just returned from a fabulous holiday at the Villa Mandi,

The hotel was lovely, the apartment very spacious and comfortable with air conditioning. The room was spotless and the cleaners came most days, can't rate them highly enough. The living area contained a dining table and 4 chairs and a kitchen area with a 2-ring hob, fridge, microwave oven, electric kettle and toaster as well as enough utensils, crockery and cutlery to allow basic self-catering The bathroom has two washbasins and a bath with an overhead mixer tap shower & a hairdryer. The balcony was nice and big with sun on it from late morning through to sunset at this time of year

The 3 Thomson Reps who worked round the pool were fantastic and really made our holiday (there were 4 reps but one did not seem approachable or friendly and often looked bored unfortunately) Silly Milly is amazing, always smiling, with endless energy. She couldn’t do enough for guests and I don't know how anyone could work as hard as she does!! She really is outstanding and a great asset to the Thomson team. A special mention to Krazy Kayla and Zip Zap Zoe who always found time to speak and make everyone feel welcome. Everyone also loved Victor, he never failed to make us smile!!

One slight niggle is that there needs to be more sun loungers and parasols, a lot seemed to be on the top balconies.

The evening entertainment is great, fairly varied and Steve the barman is brilliant at his job, very professional and great fun. Also Antonio on Reception was very pleasant and helpful on more than one occasion.

The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk away from both Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos. We used to shop in Iceland or Mercadona and then get a taxi back (Approx 5 Euros), though we used the on site shop for freshly baked baguettes and water.

You can hire Thomson towels from Reception with a 10 euro deposit per towel and you can swap them for new towels every day

Overall a lovely, lovely holiday and would love to return.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view with a terrace
