“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

Returned last night from these apartments had no sleep the entire week. We had rooms 408 and friends had 404 overlooking numerous bars which are still going strong at 2am. Also bins are that side and emptied very early too. We did e-mail prior to visit as we are in our late 60's and had read the reviews. Had nice reply saying they would do their best for us, did they heck, we had the noisiest rooms there. Perhaps the receptionist who said they had never had any complaints about the noise should spend a night in one of these rooms as we did ask numerous times to be moved,(even our rep ask for us) knowing there were empty rooms, to no avail. Air con and double glazing is a priority. The only positive was the cleaning staff and breakfast was good, plenty of choice for all.

Room Tip: Rooms 124 onwards up four floors are the quieter rooms we found out.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Aguamar Apartments (29th Sept - 6th Oct) and can really recommend these apartments.
We stayed in room 304 and the room is well decorated and extremely clean, beds are not the comfiest but ok. Flat screen TV in the room with sky sports 1 with the other half was very happy about.

The sunbed situation is not as bad as people make out, we got down to the pool at 10:00 got our sunbed and sunny spot then had breakfast at the pool bar. Mattresses can be hired for the sunbeds for a couple of euros each.
The pool does get busy in the afternoon and they have an English radio station on all day.
Food at the pool bar is good but a little over priced.

People have complained about the noise from the bars across the street however Tenerife law requires bars to switch music off at 12:00 and we heard no noise at night when trying to get to sleep.

Apartments are in a good location within easy walking distance to bars, restaurants and the beach.

We would definately stay here again.

We had a lovely two weeks here. We moved rooms midway through due to the noise from adjacent bars (you know, those awful ones where awful Brits spend all night getting as drunk as possible). However, everything else was very good, Staff were very friendly and helpful. There were an army of cleaners which resulted in the whole place being spotless. Would go back as long as we could request a specific room that we know is quiet. Easy walking distance of Los Cristianos with a good array of restaurants and bars. Walkable to Las Americas as well. Only about 20 minutes from the airport. Didn't eat on site, but the smells from the dining room were very promising!

Dont expect to much this is what it says on the can "cheap and cheerfull" No air con is the biggest downfall, you can hire a fan but if you get one like ower,s the fan blades were nearly flat, next to no fanning. some nice bars (Java) nearby, we didnt get disturbed by any noise. nice restaurants near, (must try olivers, left out of hotel then left at top of bank). say about ten to fifteen mins walk to harbour but try local as well.

Room Tip: most rooms are pool view, ground floor handy for pool.

Myself and 5 other lads (all 24/25) picked this hotel as it looked nice in the brochure at the travel agents.

We chose Los Christianos as a base, as opposed to Playas De Las Amercias (the neighbouring lively town where we'd live on the evenings) due to the fact we didn't want to spend the entire holiday around 18/19 year old druken kids. BAD MOVE.

We stayed at Aguamar between 17th September 2012 - 27th September. It's rated a 3 star plus, how I do not know. It was a 2 star plus at very best. We were under the impression it had a roof terrace with a jacuzzi, there was indeed a roof terrace however the jacuzzi had been filled in 2 years previously. We were also expecting to find a "swim to" pool bar, that had also been removed years ago.

The reception staff were quite literally VILE there is deposits for EVERYTHING known to man. The hotel has ****NO AIR CON**** and to hire a weak fan it was a 20 euro deposit and 25 euros to hire for 10 days...we later discovered you could in fact buy a decent fan from the shop over the way for 25 euros.

Los Christinaos has the best beach, granted, however, the average age of folk there was no word of a lie 60-70. The area was full of Benidorm type bars that were selling drinks for 1 euro, great you might say and yes normally I'd agree, but unless you are the "rough type" who are happy with a rough, english run bar - I wouldn't touch it.

The Aguamar boast Crazy Golf and Table Tennis, both will cost you and you will be timed to the minute, both are run down and have certainly seen better days.

We didn't touch the food in the hotel, we cannot comment though as we just did not eat a thing in the restaurant there. The food in Tenerife was very good and cheap enough, we were eating everynight in a place called the Safari Centre, which is located near to Playa De Las Amercias, a 5 euro taxi ride from the Aguamar, here you will find a classy lot of restaurants and bars, surrounded by 4/5 hotels and decent people. I'd recommend Harry's Bar for a drink and the Mexican for food. Average main meal price 7-16 euros, depending on what you have. Fillet steak with all the trmmings were around the 15 euros mark.

The Aguamar is okay as a base, I'd recommend it for families and couples - older couples at that. The pool area was okay and the pool bar average probably slightly over priced if I'm honest. The sunbed situation wasn't that bad however, in the main season I can imagine this to be a total nightmare in fairness to other reviews.

The apartments were okay and fairly modern, there are a selection of Sky channels to view including Sky Sports 1 and BBC news, the picture quality was poor though - but okay to catch up on the UK news/sports, if you so wish. I cannot fault the cleaners though, they were very good and always provided clean bed sheets and plenty of clean towels.

Reception are strict and will call your room, even if you are talking at a normal volume at 2300hrs! At times it felt what I'd imagine a youth offending asylum to be like with officers nagging you to keep your voices down.

For the younger readers of this review book somewhere in Playa De Las Americas, don't touch this resort. When you are there check out the Safari Centre for a drink or two before hitting the strip, which the locals call Veronicas - here you'll find lots of bars with lots of cheap drinks, 5 euros will get you two double vodka mixers (STRONG AS...) and lots of shots, so many it'll put you off shots forever. 20 Marlborough lights were 2.60 euros! Food/drink/cigarettes are very cheap and not worth worrying about.

The Aguamar is fine for families and older couples looking for a cheap week away. Nothing more, nothing less. Los Christinos - the same audience as I've just described for the Aguamar. Playa De Las Americas is for the younger crowd looking for a lively atmosphere and cheap drinks.

The Aguamar has no atmosphere, no character, the staff are rude. If you can't find anything cheaper book it, it'll do for a base and is clean, but if you have a few extra quid to spare go else where. Don't bother going half board here, food is cheap enough to eat out every night.

Great base for holidays. Very clean and tidy. Hotel food at night awful and no airconditioning which made it rather hot for us poor Scots!!! Noisy at night but, over all, a very nice apartment with lovely, helpful staff. Problem we had was dive-bombing adults!!!!Plenty restaurants around, especially the Angus Steak House with Maria, the owner who was lovely. We had a great time.

Room Tip: Look for cleanliness

Pool area and sun loungers cleaned every morning but pool area not open until 10.00 am, sun loungers chained up. A very boring pool area which can be quite crowded at times, however they have a life guard on duty that hands out inflatable toys for the children (despite the notice saying they are not allowed?!) they do however charge for the use of parasols and the pads for the sun lounger. The rooms that run parallel to the road can be quite noisy in the early hours with the locals going to work and the daily dustbin collections. The beach is a good 20 minits walk away but there are some great shops and plenty of places to eat on the way. There is also a well stocked supermarket 2 mins away by the main road where buses can be caught to other areas.
