Paradise Park Fun Lifestyle Hotel
Ranked #4 of 13 Hotels in Los Cristianos
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 16, 2012

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Paradise Park in Los Cristianos. We were there from 1st to 15th September. We had stayed in Los Cristianos many years ago in the Los Aliosis apartments on a self catering basis, but more recently have stayed in Playa Paraiso (Fiesta Floral (twice) and Fiesta Oasis (once) Also stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe in Adeje twice, at the Villa Adeje Beach hotel and at the Be Live Playa Arena hotel. All of these other stays were on an all inclusive basis so when we read mainly positive reviews for the Paradise Park, we booked that for two weeks all inclusive also. On the main i was very impressed by the hotel and staff but found a few practices that i feel let them down as a Hotel. My wife and i love holidaying in Tenerife, we find the weather great all year round and the people and places really friendly. We do prefer however to stay away from the centre of Las Americas as we find it to be to "in your face". I detest walking along the front and having to acknowledge or ultimately ignore all of the requests to enter a shop, bar or restaurant. It is for this reason we tend to choose Adeje, Playa Paraiso or Los Cristianos. This holiday choice was a strange one as we went with the intention of going out most nights despite being all inclusive as we have sometimes found the AI hotels just die a death at 11:00 p.m. For this purpose, the hotel was great, they had entertainment on most nights that ranged from great (Queen Tribute), to good (Beatles Tribute) to various other acts that varied but did entertain all on till about 11:00. Our choice this time to go out and about is what really made this holiday as within a few hundred yards of leaving this hotel and heading down the hill there is a great wee run of pubs and restauarants. We Arrived at the hotel at the back of Ten, dumped cases and were down at bar for 10:45 p.m. 2 quick drinks then thought we would take a walk to see what the pubs had to offer. 5 minutes later we were in a really busy pub called Bojangles watching all of the men being terrorised by a 7 foot tall drag act called Roxy Risque (I think). Absolutely Hilarious and a great start to the holiday. We found ourself returning to this pub over and over again as the acts it has on it are absolutely tremendous, including, Billy Porter (A Gay Glasgow comedian who you have got to see), A female Irish comedian who was also great, Meatloaf Tribute act, A comedy Elvis act who we actually didnt bother going to see our first week but are so glad we did the second week as his act was pure genius. Acts also included a Ska/Reggae/Madness tribute and a Diva Singer. Every show was worth seeing and made the holiday great for us. The compere each night called Lee Way was an excellent host, he was funny and could sing as well. It was on our second night there we got talking to him as we seemed to remember him from a previous holiday, turned out that he used to do a Roy Chubby Brown Tribute act himself that we had seen about 6 years previous which showed how good he was that we remembered him for it. Anyway he was really friendly and BoJangles pub became a regular for us and one we shall definitely be returning to. We also found some other great pubs in the same area, Taylors who have a great set up for showing all sports live and have a great food menu. Also Harveys which had a great atmosphere. Small chinese restaurant next to Bojangles is also worth a special mention as we had a meal there and it was superb, 2 course special for 9.50 Euros each. Well worth going to. One other thing to mention is that again just down the hill from the hotel, about 3 minute walk is a Dialprix supermarket, great choice of items and great prices, 2.25 litres of Pepsi max for just over a Euro. Anyway back to the hotel which is the main reason for these reviews, i just mentioned the pubs etc as i overheard so many people saying they had not been outside the hotel and i just thought that if you are going then for the price of a couple of drinks you can make a good holiday a great one. Food at the hotel was excellent, Breakfast was your usual standard fare, fry up, cereal, fruit etc. For lunch you had the choice of burgers, hot dogs, salads etc at the poolside bar, the burgers were excellent. Or you could go into the restaurant on the 1st floor where there was a fairly limited choice, still better probably than most, but great quality to choose from. Sirloin steak, Beef Bourginion (Spell checker please), lamb, pork etc, canarian potatoes or for probably one of my first holidays ever, I regularly chose chips, none of your limp, soggy grease dripping chips here but constantly freshly made tasty and crisp chips. Dinner at night always presented a great choice, there was always a fish choice or two, Pasta dishes, cold meats, a Roast choice or two, and again on several occasions each week, Sirloin Steak cooked in front of you however you liked it. It was gorgeous. Drink choices were great, some issues if you were not all inclusive that i will come to shortly. The staff were really friendly and helpful, I witnessed one young staff member meet a couple coming in who had a sight impairment, the young man led them to a table and then asked if they would like him to go get a selction for them. All of this in a very busy and pressured restaurant. I did try to catch his name on his badge to commend him to management but did not manage to do so, pity. I will press on with the positives i found and leave what disappointed me till the end. There is free wifi in the lobby area, we actually managed to access it standing outside our room door on the fifth floor as the hotel is completely open in the middle so the signal was available. It is not lightning fast but did the job. A safe is available for hire, i think we paid about 35 euros for two weeks. Air con is wonderful, it works and it is very quiet. Our room had a fridge so again this was a real bonus. Towels were changed everyday and the maid was very effective. I had emailled a few weeks before going to ask for a room with a pool view and we were given room 524 that had a great view overlooking pool and was a sun trap till about 8 at night. There are a few swimming pools in the complex so it is worth taking a walk round to familiarise yourself with them all. We preferred the one that was separate from the hotel. If you go to the main pool in the hotel then walk towards the snack bar, go past it and out a gate, you cross a small pavement and go in another gate, (your room key activates the lock) there is a lovely big pool area with loads of beds and shades. Only downside is that locals can pay to access this (15 euros Mon to Fri for access with your food and drink included, 20 euros on a saturday or sunday so it can be busier on those days.) There were a few things, processes that i felt really let this hotel down. On occasion there were not enough staff serving in the down stairs bar when the entertainment was on, this led to queues. Now normally if a bar is all inclusive, this is not much of a problem as there is no money or change passing hands so queues go down quickly. Here however it is a mixture of all inclusive and not, so money does change hands and serving takes longer. This set up was also problematic in the restaurants as if you were all inclusive, you got all of your food and drinks free, otherwise you had to pay. So on entering the restaurant you could have people queuing to be issued a ticket to allow drinks etc to be ordered, but likewise you could have a queue of people waiting to pay for their drinks before they could leave. A really cumbersome process that could do with some work on it. On one of the nights, the entertainer stated that the following nights entertainment was going to be a chill out party, held on the roof and for everyone to wear white. We duly made our way to the roof the following night only to find loads of people heading back down as it turned out that this entertainment was not part of the all inclusive and you had to pay for your drinks. No mention had been made of this however posters for the party the following week did now include a disclaimer that it was not part of your all inclusive. Now for the final thing that i felt really let the hotel down and that i mentioned in their leaving survey. We arrived after 10 p.m. on our first day. We were told we would have to check out by 12 midday on our last day but we would be given a ticket to get lunch. On our last day i asked if we could pay to keep our room on as we were not getting picked up till 6:10 p.m. I was told the hotel was full and this was not possible but we could book a shower room for 5 p.m. I asked if i could retain my room key or be given another key to access the pool across the road that we had used for the rest of our two week stay only to be told no, our bands had to be removed at 12 and we could not use the other pool after this, nor could we get soft drinks or anything. There are posters and leaflets everywhere asking that you join their amigos in paradise club to get preferential treatment if you should return but on your very last day you are made to feel that come 12 o'clock that you are no longer welcome. I did mention to the receptionist this gave a very poor impression but his answer was only that he did not make the rules. It did not spoil my holiday for the sake of a few soft drinks but it just spoiled the overall impression of what was in the main an excellent hotel that up to that point did make you feel you were an individual. We were without hot water for a day and received a handwritten apology and a bottle of Cava that evening, a really nice touch, just as well it didnt happen after 12 on our last day. Bottomline however is, this is a great hotel and well worth visiting. We have already booked to go to an Iberostar hotel in January in Adeje but may return to Paradise Park in May. One final thing that may have a big impact on the holidays my wife and i now take is that we no longer have young kids so choose to go when schools are not on holiday so no doubt hotels, pubs etc are a lot quieter so bear this in mind when reading reviews, i tend to trail back through pages to find reviews written for the same period of time that i intend to travel. It makes them more relevant. Good luck and enjoy.

This is an honest review from our stay from the 4th of September for 7days,on arrival we were given room 145 on the first floor although we had requested a high floor room,, the room was on the same level as the car park the patio door was unlocked and would not lock also the safe was out of order, we called maintanance who attended but the safe could not be fixed intill the engineer was summoned the next day, because of the faulty door and being on pavement level the safe not working we politely requested a room change but we were denied, not an unreasonable request given the circumstances. One of the reasons for our choce of this particular hotel was the reviews that we had read on T/A which in all honesty were fairly correct regarding the helpfull and freindly staff who really were courteous and attentive, however the food was average at best not quite sure the comments about the food being fantastic. the beer is on tap for everone regardless of your all inclusive status this hotel is no more then 3 star and in need of refurbishment , incidently the patio door had still not been fixed when we left.

We came back to the Paradise Park having had a fantastic holiday here in March. Unfortunately this holiday was a different experience. From experience, when booking we had asked for a room with a pool view, floor 3 or above. On arrival we were allocated a room on floor 2 tucked up in the corner above the main evening entertainment room which meant that every night we couldnt sleep until after the evening entertainment finished and everyone had dispersed as it was very noisy. Reception staff were unhelpful when we asked for a move they said they were fully booked and that was the end of it. However on a more positive note we found the food and staff (with exception of reception) very good. Another word of warning - if you are on a late flight you have to check out by midday. We asked if we could pay to keep our room til 1800hrs but were told "no we are fully booked!" If you are all inclusive you also miss out on lunch and dinner as your All Inclusive privilege stops at midday. However on the way home another couple advised us that if you ask you can get lunch tokens but we werent told this.
All in all this was an enjoyable holiday spoilt by the hostility of the reception staff and the room location. I appreciate you cannot pick a room before arriving but we have stayed in many hotels and never experienced anything quite as noisy as this and for that reason we wont be returning for a third visit.

Room Tip: Higher room and away from the evening nightclub room are quieter

Came at xmas & new year, liked the place so much I came again from 4th - 14th September (got back this morning)
My g/f also thought the place was great, this was her first visit.
I emailed the hotel 2 days before my arrival asking for a room on the 2nd floor again and that's what I got.
It's hard to add much to my last review of this hotel, except my stay seemed even better this time round, I really don't understand the negative reviews that some people have written, but upon reading some of the petty things that they were complaining about, their reviews are quite laughable and you do wonder if some people are determined to be negative about a place before they even get there.

I hope the management read this because once again I would like to point out what fantastic member of staff Gema is, she works up on the roof at Bar Teide, always smiling, remembered me from xmas and very attentive and pleasant to all customers.

I am fairly well travelled and this is the first hotel I have ever been a repeat customer of and intend to come back again in april 2003

Room Tip: The 2nd floor rooms are handy because they are on the reception level and close to the 1st floor and...

this was our 3rd stay at this hotel, and our worst. we originally booked a junior suite through alpharooms, and when we arrived at the hotel, they insisted we had booked junior classic suite, whichis nothing like its name. the room they tried to give us was under ground level, and had no air conditioning, and no fan in the room.we complained and we eventualy got our original booking. so be very wary when booking your suite.
the food we food to be very average, we did stay all inclusive.
they also say that all in clusive starts at 12 mid day on arrival, and finishes at 12 mid day on departure. which can be a problem, if you have a evening flight. it also is only from 7am to 23.00hrs. not 24 hours.
really a very dissapointing visit, sad to say will not stay there again.

My family stayed here 14th - 28th August - 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 15. We booked 2 classic rooms on 3rd floor- which were barely 3 star standard - small boxes with metal furniture and a leaking bathroom, with dry rot on walls. We asked immediately to be upgraded but there was no availability for 4 days. We stuck it out with one adult and one child in each room as there was no adjoining door and the rooms were off a dark and dingey corridor. We had problems with key cards, air conditioning, leaks. We had already paid £4,500 for 2 weeks all inclusive and were asked to pay another £800 for upgrade - we were outraged but our family holiday would have been ruined so we negotiated a discount to £520 and bit the bullet. Upgrade was 2 superior suites with adjoining door on 7th floor - luxury bathrooms and large balconies - what you would expect for the price. We still had problems with air conditioning, food smells coming through the vents, and our water went off every morning and night usually whilst we were in the shower or about to get in. Beds were hard and uncomfortable in both types of accomodation. The food was good with a wide range, although the same choices most days and lunch and dinner were the same (very little choice for vegitarians) After a week it all started to taste the same and was very rarely hot. Service was good if you were Spanish! The pools are alot smaller than they look on the internet, adults area is very nice and childrens clubs very good for little ones. Unfortunately due to the ages of our children - too old for kids activities and too young for adult areas - very boring. The local beach is grotty with poor facilities and disgusting toilets, we took a taxi to Playa Americas and Playa Vista which was much better. Loro Parque and Siam Park are good trips out. None of the Hotel rules are enforced - people wore beach wear for dinner and queued up at 8.30am to put towels on loungers. Don't go in August - too busy and the resort is open to locals at weekends - who can be abusive and disruptive around and in the pool - too crowded and just unpleasant for paying guests. Staff were very helpful and tried to sort out the many problems, they have their very own Mr Bean in the resturant - David Gomez - who is fantastic. The hotel is very clean and the maid service is excellant. Dont buy any clothing from the hotel fashion show -I found everything for less than half the price I had paid at the Sunday market. If you like Butlins/Haven type holidays with cheesy entertainment, beer on tap and eating morning till night, dont expect to leave the hotel and spend all day with other Brits and have children under 8 this may be for you. We have mixed feelings about our stay and all returned with a flu lke bug which we put down to the lack of chemicals in the pools. I would only recomend if you can get a cheap deal and do not pay more than a 3 star resort. Half Board is probably better than AI (we didnt eat lunch or snacks most days)

Room Tip: Only choose superior or executive accomodation on upper floors- try to get a cheap deal

I travelled here with myself, partner and 2 children age 5 and 7. We had a brilliant stay, service was very good, food was fantastic and the animation team were brilliant with the children.
The beer is on tap so you can help yourself also bottles of wine are just available to help yourself too which was good as you did not have to queue at the bars.
Entertainment at night for the kids is excellent they have a mini disco first which is then followed by 2 shows for both children and adults we had no problems getting seats as we got there early. The pools were good, the kids had a great time we never had any problems getting a sun lounger.
The animation team were fab they were very good with the kids Iban, Pedro and Victoria work very hard.
There is a free bus which runs from the hotel to the main part of town which we used often and found very useful.
Overall excellent holiday and we would return again.
