I stayed here with my daughter for 10 days in August. We had such a lovely time. The staff, the hotel, the pools, the room, other guests - everything was brilliant. There are not too many children (just enough), its quite civilised round the pool, not too many screamers. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and made a real fuss of my daughter. We were half board and we really enjoyed eating the in restaurant where a good variety of food was available - great for kids. Entertainment was also ok (standard hotel stuff) and a short walk into town along the promenade was just right after dinner. We met some lovely people which really made our holiday. Crap beach tho but with great pool area who cares! one thing I just remembered, its near a port so you get big ships in and out - occassionally they honk their horns, which is v loud - usually not before 8am tho, but it wouldn't put me off going back.

  • Liked — Everything - staff really made you feel welcome
  • Disliked — The port and the loud horns of the ships (also crappy beach)

Arona Gran was one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Views from most rooms are excellent. Even though it was peak season there were always plenty of sunbeds at any time of day - sadly a few brits did feel the need to reserve them every day and must have been up at 6.30 am to tie their pink sarongs around their favourite beds - even tho they didn't even sit on them for more than 5 minutes at a time! Staff were very friendly and helpful and food was absolutely excellent - a brilliant choice for everyone and very high standard. We did feel water should have been provided at dinner as well as breakfast tho as we did begrudge paying for it! It was a shame that the hotel did not enforce their own dress code at dinner tho, as it wasn't fair to those who did make the effort, although we did think smart 3/4 length shorts should be acceptable. It is also requested that men wear full length trousers in the disco bar - something that put many off going in as who wants to be that stuffy when you are on holiday? The entertainment was bad. We did try to stick with it for a few nights but sadly the 'motown murderer' - who really did massacre some of our favourite motown songs - was the last straw! So visit some of the local bars - which are also a lot cheaper. Or take a taxi into las Americas if you want some noisier nighlife. Visits to Mount Teide national park and to the north of the island are well worth it as it is so interesting and the scenery is beautiful. It is worth applying for the Spring discount card (free of charge) as it will give you 15% off in the bars in all Spring Hotels and also allow you to keep your room on late on your last day for no extra charge (otherwise they ask for 42 euros!) We spent a fortnight at the Arona Gran and had a really relaxing holiday, which was just what we needed. Definitely more for the older age groups tho.

This is a lovely clean hotel and enjoyed my stay. But be aware no-one seems to mention the noise of the( Ferry horn), which will wake you at Eight o'clock every morning and disrupt you through out the day.
The spring discount card is well worth it making drink just as cheap inside the hotel.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. We booked a taxi transfer and were at the hotel 15 minutes after collecting our luggage at the airport, well worth the extra!
Reception was efficient and always helpful, for example, we had a light bulb fail in the bathroom and it was replaced almost immediately.
We liked – almost everything! The food was consistent and excellent. Freshly cooked show cooking every meal, and a choice that would leave even the pickiest eater with something to eat. The food was always piping hot too. The rooms were spotless. We booked a sea view and would recommend that, as the view is excellent and the rooms are south facing. Towels and linen were changed regularly and there were plenty of useful toiletries in the room, as well as dressing gowns and slippers. The air conditioning worked well and the tv was a surprise, a modern widescreen tv with several English channels. The bar staff were always quick and very polite. Drinks are charged to the room card and settled at the end of your stay, which avoids carrying cash and the universal problem of how much to tip! The pool bar served a range of snacks at lunchtime so you didn’t need to go out if you didn’t want to. Not much sun bed reserving – you could always get a bed and usually wherever you wanted it. The pools were immaculate and reasonably warm! For daily supplies, such as a paper, there is a supermarket across the road, but if you want to venture further afield it’s an easy walk into Los Cristianos and a decent walk/short car or taxi ride, to Playa de las Americas, where the better beaches are to be found. (Good news however, the town council are funding a scheme to improve the beach outside the hotel which should be completed in a year or two.
What we didn’t like – not much! No tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which would be nice if you rise early like we do and would like a drink before breakfast starts at 8am. Also the resident group seemed a bit under strength for most of our stay and were a bit dreary as a consequence. We wouldn’t want to judge them entirely on that, however, as they perked up a bit on our last night, when the personnel changed slightly! The “Showtime” acts were generally very good, although mainly catering for an older audience – not a great place for teenagers on the evidence of what we saw!
Overall, we had a great time at a great hotel and would thoroughly recommend it if you like a hotel where the pace of life is steady and relaxed.

This is our third visit to this hotel and as ever it was absolutely amazing. The staff here are so friendly, the food is outstanding (healthy and non healthy options all the time) and the actual hotel itself is faultless... the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed at. Our party ranges from 61 to 17 and there is something for everyone, granted the entertainment isn't fantastic at all times, but there is a gym and los christianos has a lot of shops and bars. If you want more nightlife, then Playa de la americas is literally a walk away (around 5-7 euros in a taxi). Also, there are more shops in playa de las americas aswel as a lovely water fountain show that is put on to music at 10pm, much worth catching.
would definetelyrecogmend this hotel, mind you.. like us, once you have been have there, you will want to keep going!!

We had been shown this hotel by friends when we visited Tenerife at Christmas and to celebrate our 20th Anniversay, and the first holiday without our daughter, we thought we would treat ourselves. Whilst the hotel and staff are very nice, we were disappointed with the dress code not being adhered to, which made us feel over dressed on our first night in the restaurant. Also, it was disappointing to see people rush out to put towels on sunbeds, as there were plenty. The hotel entertainment from 10.30pm onwards was the same singer, singing the same songs in the same order the three nights we went in. Also, the piano bar was closed, which had been open at Christmas and had looked very nice.
The choice of food at both breakfast and evening was very good and we always found something we liked. The only thing we would change is that water should be provided free at evening meal, as it is at breakfast.

We have just returned from the Arona Gran where we went with friends for my husbands 40th birthday suprise. What a great hotel really impressive from the moment you enter the massive reception area with its hanging vegetation and indoor waterfall.
The food was excellent with so much choice every night there was something for everyone - most of it freshly cooked while you watched. I am a really fussy eater and only ever eat chips and tomotoes when i am on holiday but the food was great and the staff lovely.
The rooms were very clean and the maids came in daily and left it spotless.
The pool area is the highlight with views looking out to sea and the port of Los Cristianos in the distance where you can watch the boats coming and going. We used to position our sunbeds looking out to sea and it was lovely. There is a promenade that takes you all the way into Las Americas which is a lovely walk with bars and resteraunts all the way. The nearest beaches by the hotel are rocky but a short stroll takes you to a beach by the harbour and just round the corner is a lovely beach with a waterfall in the sea. The shops in Los Cristianos were fab and having walked there its only 6 euros for a taxi back. There is a market next to the hotel on a sunday well worth a visit with great bargains especially if you are prepared to haggle. The boys played golf just up the road and said the course was lovely.
There was nightly entertainment in the hotel but if you fancied a change a short stroll takes you to several bars with nightly entertainment of a very good standard. The hotel also organises day time activities and there is a good gym, squash courts, table tennis and indoor driving range.
All in all we had a great holdiay and would definately go back!!!
