“Ok but not really for young couples.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

We have just got back from HG Tenerife Sur where we stayed for 10 nights and overall the hotel was OK. We stayed in room 255 which is at the side of the hotel facing another hotel.

Good bits:

- Clean rooms
- Fresh towels everyday
- Courtesy bottle of water in the fridge (very handy when you are not used to the heat!)
- Modern decor
- Clean pool area
- Sufficient amentities in the room - eg. toaster, microwave, kettle. Enough crockery and cutlery for 2 people
- Inside seating area and table and chairs on balcony.
- Safe, (approx 2 euros a day)
- Staff are friendly and helpful
- Close to bus stop and taxi rank outside
- Supermarket over the road

Bad bits:

- If you get an apartment facing the Heritage bar you will not get to sleep before midnight although we were able to do the pub quiz from our balcony a couple of nights!
- The pool area is VERY QUIET with no music or atmosphere and the floor quite slippery
- Entertainment consisted of a man with a keyboard outside the front of the hotel and very much aimed at older generation.
- No air con
- No shutters on the windows
- Electricity is turned on using the key card however we worked out that if you shove a piece of paper in the slot it will work so you can leave your ceiling fan on when you go out.
- Cleaners are noisy in the morning (approx 8am) slamming doors and shouting
- Hotel is a fair walk to the beach and harbour. It would take us approx 15 mins because of the heat and I would not suggest it for people that are not used to walking long distances. There is also quite a steep hill down to the centre which is a struggle in 30 degree heat!
- Hotel shop prices are a little pricey

Overal this hotel is good place to stay. We would not go back to this hotel because of the location as after a week or so of walking up and down the hill you feel like you have run a marathon! I have an active outdoors job and I still struggled by the end of the holiday!

Los Cristianos overall is a nice place but is very 'touristy'. Lots of restaurants and bars to choose from and a lovely white sand beach. (Sunbeds cost 12 euros for 2 and a parasol for the day but worth it as the sand gets very hot) The beach is kept very clean and is maintained very well. The man selling fruit is a laugh too!

Taxis are very well priced and the drivers are very friendly and helpful. They do drive like F1 drivers though!

Monkey Park is a must if you like animals! Get there at 9.30am when they open and take bananas or grapes as they do not like the bags of food sold at the park.

As a day out Loro Parque is a great place to visit. Although it is quite far from Los Cristianos and is in the north of the island, you can get a bus and ticket for 38 euros each. It took us approx 2.5 hours to get there but was definately worth the trip. The sealion, dolphin and whale shows are a must-see. 10/10!

We will probably not go back to Tenerife as we prefer a more scenic holiday however it was lovely weather and a nice enough place, just not for us!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool as the rooms facing outwards are noisy.

We booked this aparthotel based on the fact we wanted a cheaper get away for a week. Unlike some of the usual suspects who have made negative comments on trip advisor, we did our research and knee it was a three star resort, so expected nothing more. We stayed in room 54, which over looks the pool and was five floors up. We had no problems with noise from the bars over the road at all. The pool area is nice and spacious, however the 9am ritual of parasol hogging was something I have never seen before. The sun beds are chained up until 9am to prevent the laying of towels at sunrise. There were far too few parasols so I watched in amusement every morning at the same people hanging around the pool, tying towels to parasols in the same way a dog might cock its leg to mark territory. God forbid you entered the territory of those four from Iceland who would hog two parasols, at 9, then disappear till gone 11, before returning not to even lie under them!
On a downside, our apartment was in need of some modernisation. The sliding door on the wardrobe kept falling off. The bathroom tiling was shoddy and it looked as though someone had grouted it with a yard brush.
On the whole, a good week. I would go again.

Horrible cleaning. Apartment was dirty, dust and towels bad condition. Staff are friendly and logistics seems very smooth. If apartment from street side, refrain from sleeping until 1 am. The music from 'east Enders ' style pubs and dito public is sooooooooo horrible

We arrived in Tenerife on the 14th and stayed until the 25th of august. Our first impression of the apartment wasn't great as we had a stain on the pull out matress. We told the reception about this and within 10mins of being there it was changed. The room is basic oven, sink, fridge and kettle. The pool is very nice and clean but you need to be careful walking around it as the area is slippy. Very good location only about a 10 min walk to sea front and lots of local restaurants and bars would recomend El Mason very friendly staff, Mongolian bbq which is only about a 5 min walk from the apartments. Overall good family holiday a visit to Siam water park is a definate must, Aqualand is better for the younger ones!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view quieter side of the complex.

The apartment was clean and the maid service was excellent, the pool was good but very crowded most days, friendly staff. But it was very noisy at night, we stayed in apartment 114 which seemed to have a lot of people outside our apartment door all through the night for various reasons which kind of ruined it for me as I kept getting woken up. Over all I would probably not stay here again purely for that reason. When I booked it I was told it was 4 star but it is not, it is more like 3 star. The apartments are well equipped with things like an oven with gas hob, pots, pans, a toaster, fridge and kettle, ceiling fans in both rooms, built in hair dryer in bathroom. Hardly any clothes storage in 1 bed apartments for a family of 4. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
