As regulars to tenerife we have eaten in rubina many times, we booked our favorite table and when we arrived the staff sang happy birthday to me. then the super talented ecuostic guitar player played my favorite songs. then to top it all off the owner brought me out a birthday cake. on the house. the food is always top notch and the hospitality is outstanding.

We were approached on the street outside this restaurant by the usual promotional staff promising great things. As a coeliac I was taken in by the promise that most of the food was safe and gluten free bread and pasta was no problem once we booked the table in advance. We booked the table for that night. On arrival we asked for sangria. The waitress had to go to the shop down the street to buy the fruit for the sangria. When ordering our food we were suddenly told that no gluten free bread or anything else was available unless booked the day in advance!!!! Needless to say we were very disappointed with the sudden turnaround and we left immediately.

It seems the objective of this restaurant is to get the customer seated and then hope the customers are stupid enough to tolerate their incompetence and pay anyway.

I think this restaurant promises whatever you want to hear but does not deliver. Very bad experience!!!! Beware.

Rubina, as you are a trading restaurant in an island where sangria is the main alcohol drink, not having the ingredient in stock is not a good start. Not having a drinks menu is worse and promising food of a dietary requirement and then not being able to deliver is the worst!

First time reviewer however service in most restaurants this week has been poor and driven me to trip advisor :). To cut short hassled daily by touts to go into restaurant. Although friendly annoying.

However gave benifit of the doubt over the FRESHNESS claim.

When in the restaurant we ordered quickly for a change this week which was a positive. However waiter asked if we wanted all these little rxtras for an extra CHARGE that most restaurants would include on starters or mains. For example bread to go with meatball sauce or chips to go with main.

However our starter which cost 7 euro each (decent restaurant price) was very poor and could tell not fresh.

Main we ordered was chicken cheese and ham with red peppers. What we got was a slice of chicken a couple of slices of ham and a plate covered in melted cheese causing a grease residue. Very very poor.

Overall bad experience - stay away.
