Stayed at this charming hotel in June 2011. After realizing I wanted to stay near a beach and not in Mykonos town, I booked immediately. The early booking rate was fabulous at $110 CAD per night including breakfast. It was non-refundable but I knew we were going to Mykonos, so decided to save myself $100 over the course of my stay by booking that way.
Online booking was very easy. After booking, Fotis contacted me to arrange a transfer based on arrival of our boat. Our flight out of Montreal was delayed so ended up having to get a later boat. I had no way of letting the hotel know so our driver wasn't there when we arrived . We completely understood so got a taxi to the hotel (10 euros). After checking my emails later that evening I noticed Fotis sent me a note asking if all was OK since we were not on our boat.
Hotel is beautiful, white with blue trimmings... a nice seating area near reception. The pool area is stunning and very relaxing. Most peoeple end up here around 3pm after being out for the day. Rooms are large and very clean. We had a standard room on the first floor (I think #117) at pool level. When doors were shut all was quiet so no worries there.
Breakfast was scrumptious!! Fotis basked some homemade goodies most every day including chocolate loaf, raisin loaf etc. One morning he even made baklava... yum! The rest of breakfast included greek yogurt, fruits, breads, meats and cheeses, a hot option of eggs and usually bacon or sausage. It was fresh, tasty and always well stocked.
The hotel is 50m from the bus stop that takes you to Mykonos town for abour 1.3 euro.... and 100m from the great Platis Yialos beach where you can get boats to the other beaches if you like.
The hotel owner also owns Avli Tou Thodori, a restaurant on Platis Yialos beach. It's quite good for mediterranean food and Argo Hotel guests get a %10 discount. We ate there a few times for convenience as we were hanging out on loungers in front of the restaurant. If you are Argo Hotel guest and buy drinks/eat lunch at ATT resto, lounger access is free. The owner was always at the restaurant overseeing everything. They usually also give a free dessert at the end of your meal... a nice touch but done often in restaurants in the area (that I noticed anways).
There is also a little convenience store across the street to buy some snacks, beer, water etc. Quite convenient. WiFi was also available and free.
The hotel is wonderful. Everyone is very friendly. The owner is always asking if you are enjoying yourself... and Fotis has everything under control. Transfers to/from boat or airport are free, which is a fabulous deal in my opinion. Don't hesitate, book the Argo Hotel and enjoy Mykonos!
