We spent nine unforgettable days at Hotel Kosmoplaz in June 2006. It has been our best holiday ever, everything was perfect, without exaggeration! Plati Yialos is a wonderful beach with crystal-clear water and a truly amazing scenery, and Hotel Kosmoplaz is right on the beach.

The staff is most helpful and kind, they will help you whatever you may wish for. We are especially grateful to Mr Kalamaras Antonis, manager of the hotel, who helped us organize our journey at the last minute, for his kindness and true hospitality we were really amazed at. Dimitris is the most polite receptionist we have ever met, there is nothing he wouldn’t do for the guests.

I would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to have a relaxing holiday in a very friendly atmosphere with beautiful surroundings, right on one of the best beaches in Greece. Book a room with with sea-view if you can and you’ll be amazed in every way!

We stayed at the Kosmoplaz last June. The hotel itself is fine, reasonably priced, and the location is good, being on the beach and a very short walk to the bus stop to take you into town. There is a little store on the beach to pick up pop and beer for inexpensive. There are also a few casual restaurants on the beach. Breakfast was included in our rate and was average. So overall the convenience factor is high. The hotel management was so poor though, it was almost laughable- more on that below.

We had two rooms, which were fine. Not fancy, but clean and of a decent size. There are fridges in the room. The pool is tiny and faces cement buildings, but I'm sure most aren't going for the pool. The beach is quite nice, on a small bay where the shuttle boats take you to Paradise, Super Paradise etc. There are lots of chairs and umbrellas, however, they are lined up completely on top of each other. Further, the hotel charges you for the use of them. I know this is somewhat typical in Europe, but it still gripes me. The hotel unfortunately charges for everything else, nickel and diming you for every little thing.

What made our stay much less enjoyable was the hotel management. They are mostly Russian and apparently think that Americans are complete idiots. They wanted to show us how to do everything...how to use the key in the lock, how to run the tray along the cafeteria line for breakfast, wanted to show us the menu every time we walked through the restaurant (which was all the time because it's the only way to get to the beach). I'm all for helpfulness, but this was ridiculous. On top of it, they were very condescending and would actually get mad at us if we didn't want to look at the menu or "learn" how to use the toaster. One of the waitstaff started yelling at my dad as he walking out of the restaurant because he didn't want to look at the menu for the hundredth time. Overall, just rude, pushy and not at all enjoyable to cross paths with.

We otherwise enjoyed the stay and location. The price was reasonable, which is tough to say in Mykonos. But if you can find comparable without a Russian staff, I would choose that option!
