This place looks just like many other cafes in small town New Zealand but you just have to step inside to see it's much more. The 70s retro design becomes an immediate talking point and that's before you take a look at the food cabinet brimming with beautifully made food and quite a bit of it with an unusual twist particularly the array of sweet and savoury pies.
But the best bit about this place is the service - it was a very busy day when we went to Banana Pepper and the cafe was pretty full but we'd no sooner sat down from ordering when all our food and coffees arrived together and we were in a group of 7 so that was no mean fete. Whilst most of us had fairly simple fare, pies and poached eggs on toast one of the means was a chicken salad beautifully presented 70s retro style and all for just over $8!
This place is well worth a visit just to look at the food but if you're in a hurry it's even more worth a visit and it won't break the bank. Well done Banana Pepper!
