“So good we stayed longer”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

We traveled to Gracias to climb Cerro Las Minas and were fortunate enough to have chosen Guancascos as our base. It's well-located in relation to the bus station, the fort and the village of Gracias. Whilst our room was basic it was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed, including wi-fi, safe drinking water readily available and hammocks beside our upper terrace room. The hotel's real charm though lies in its great hospitality and welcoming atmosphere, in the surrounds of a beautiful terraced garden. We felt like friends rather than guests. Meal times on the terrace overlooking village life below were long, languid, relaxing affairs, with attentive staff and delicious food. We liked it so much we changed our plans and stayed an extra day. Thanks Frony and Jim for your kindness throughout our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms 13 and 14 on the upper terrace - great views and away from the noisy road below

We (couple, 40 & 50 years old) stayed at Hotel Guancasco two nights in November 2013. Our room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The private bathroom was large. There was a hammock outside the room and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The wonderful open air restaurant has a wonderful view of Gracias. The manager/owner was helpful and friendly. We extended our stay in Gracias one night just to enjoy Hotel Guancasco. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Gracias.

I stayed one week in Guancascos, Gracias and had a wonderful time. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel serves delicious food and free wifi is available in the restaurant with a beautiful view of the town. The rooms are a bit small and dark, but clean and each has a hammock outside where you can relax or you can enjoy the nice view from the terraces. Guancascos is within walking distance from the town centre and there is a secured parking where you can leave your car. Good choice and would stay there again!

We had a great stay at Guancascos. It is a nice hotel with clean rooms and beautiful grounds. The restaurant served a delicious dinner and breakfast. Free wifi and english speaking staff are available. If you cannot manage stairs, I would not recommend this hotel. It has secure parking for those that bring their own car. The view from their elevated restaurant adds to a very relaxing atmosphere. Guancascos is a short walk to the market, church and other cultural sites. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

My daughter teaches in this town and I went to see her. This hotel is amazing. The grounds are amazing. Very clean, prices very reasonable. They are very accommodating. Anything you need they will do. Nothing is a problem. Food was very good. Amazing experience.

We came to Gracias for two nights and had a great stay at Guancascos! Beautiful rooms on a multi floored terraced style old coffee plantation. The restaurant also has great food, free pretty good speed wifi, and great views of the town. There is also secured parking if you're bringing a car! Props to this hotel for their efforts towards sustainable Eco tourism!

Guancascos is a comfortable hotel with a number of rooms, based around its restaurant. The staff speak English, and are happy to give advice on what to do in the area (such as visiting Celaque national park, nearby). They can also provide hiking equipment and guides.

The rooms are compact but fully equipped, with en-suite bathrooms and comfortable beds. The hotel’s location on the hillside gives good views over the town, and it’s nice to laze in a hammock and soak up the view.

The restaurant makes good food, and can provide packed lunches if necessary.

Room Tip: The rooms at the top of the hotel have the best views.
