My daughter teaches in this town and I went to see her. This hotel is amazing. The grounds are amazing. Very clean, prices very reasonable. They are very accommodating. Anything you need they will do. Nothing is a problem. Food was very good. Amazing experience.

We came to Gracias for two nights and had a great stay at Guancascos! Beautiful rooms on a multi floored terraced style old coffee plantation. The restaurant also has great food, free pretty good speed wifi, and great views of the town. There is also secured parking if you're bringing a car! Props to this hotel for their efforts towards sustainable Eco tourism!

Guancascos is a comfortable hotel with a number of rooms, based around its restaurant. The staff speak English, and are happy to give advice on what to do in the area (such as visiting Celaque national park, nearby). They can also provide hiking equipment and guides.

The rooms are compact but fully equipped, with en-suite bathrooms and comfortable beds. The hotel’s location on the hillside gives good views over the town, and it’s nice to laze in a hammock and soak up the view.

The restaurant makes good food, and can provide packed lunches if necessary.

Room Tip: The rooms at the top of the hotel have the best views.

Great hotel and staff. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating with everything. The restaurant has good fresh food and stunning views of mountains. The hotel was opened in 1993 and feels very fresh and cozy. Each room has a balcony with hammock to unwind in. There are 17 rooms to choose from and all of the other guests seemed to be as happy and comfortable as we did in this beautiful natural setting. An abundance of Butterflies and exotic birds to view. I highly recommend Hotel Guancascos.

I stayed in a few hotels during my trip to Honduras, but hands down this was the best one of them all. The view from the restaurant was incredible as it overlooked Gracias and the mountains. The staff was helpful and kind. The food was great and the rooms were nice and clean. Each room had it's only little porch area for sitting and setting up a hammock. The hotel was beautiful - it had its own little botanical garden right on the grounds; pretty flowers, birds and butterflies - very tranquil. The hotel sits in a great location and it is very easy for them to set up a guided tour for hiking or bird watching. I really love the fact that this is a green hotel and they care about Honduras and the environment. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Honduras and I plan on staying there again in the future. Great prices as well.

I have stayed in many hotels all over Honduras but Guancascos is by far one of my favorites and definitely a steal because the prices are great. The hotel has a restaurant with tasty and reasonably priced food. The big draw is the view of the city and mountains from the open terrace restaurant. It is great when you can eat a good and fresh meal while watching a lightening storm in the distant mountains.
The staff are very polite and always willing to help. Since the hotel is a draw for lots of international travelers, you definitely get the opportunity to meet people from all over. The hotel is also a prime destination for those that want to do the more outdoorsy activities in Gracias.
Each hotel room has a private bathroom and a little porch area with chairs and a hammock. The rooms are clean and simple but that is really all you need since the atmosphere is so nice outside. There is hot water in the bathroom and a fan in the bedroom.
The hotel is also excellent for those that like being nice to nature. They recycle and will change sheets and towels as you like, but you are given the opportunity to save a little water by reusing them a couple days in a row.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are very peaceful with a lovely nature path leading to them. Rooms under the resta...

The best thing about this hotel is the view over Gracias. Our room was rather small and simply furnished though pretty but we had a balcony overlooking the town which was beautiful. The views from the restaurant were also great but it didn't have much atmosphere and the service was efficient rather than friendly. The food we had was ok, I wouldn't say it was anything special. The licuados deserve a special mention though, they were excellent. If you stay here, ask for one of the rooms on the top floor with a view and enjoy a licuado in the bar before going out for dinner.
