“Cool hotel - but pricey”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

My husband and I went to Ibiza in June and stayed in a flat in Playa d’en Bossa before a six week visit to Barcelona. On our last night, we took a walk on the beach and passed by Ushuaia – it was the opening party for Departures. It looked so cool that we decided to come back to Ibiza after Barcelona just to stay at Ushuaia. We spent four nights in a double superior room in the tower. The hotel design is incredible! We love the eclectic mix of modern design with Asian and whimsical touches. The room was small, but the design was cool and the bed was very comfortable. The included breakfast buffet had a great selection and the cava was a nice touch. If you like fruit, you will love the giant table with big bowls of just about every kind of fruit imaginable. The beachfront location is great – very close to the airport and a short taxi ride to Evissa. The Departures party was awesome – we loved the music; and the Ants party was cool too. The only thing we didn’t like was the cost – the room, food, and bar prices were very steep.

Room Tip: Room tip: If you want quiet, ask for a tower room overlooking the tower pool. To be a little closer...

Small rooms but jam packed full of goodies. In the middle of the party but still quiet when we wanted to sleep. All the staff and the GM were extremely friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed my stay with them this time and genuinely liked the staff. Wii fii was an issue but it's an issue everywhere. They did their best to sort it out. Check in still takes forever. Was sad to leave and will recommend the tower to anyone that wants to come to Ibiza to party. Amazing after parties upstairs are the big main parties.

My wife and i just stayed here for 4 nights, and we had a great time at the hotel concerts with David Guetta and Avicii, but we had big problems with simple things like the hotel's internet which NEVER worked for our computers or phones, no TV channels for 3 days, and towels and shampoo being restocked. The front desk people where really great, but we were constantly reminded about shoes and shirts at a casual pool hotel. Arbitrary rules that were not consistent, and we just wanted a casual easy going time. Not rules lectures from "Mom and Dad, or big brother" all the time. This hallway was ok with no shirt, this hallway was not.... not to be overly complaining, but a little more relaxed seemed to be in order for a beach and pool hotel.

While on the road, i still need internet, and it was a huge problem that was never overcome, and no TV was also not overcome.

This hotel is VERY expensive for Ibiza, and maybe not worth it.... we would not stay again.
Another point, my wife ordered off the menu at dinner, lobster tails 25euro, but the bill arrived and she was charged 39 euro. God knows why.... and i don't want to argue.

But fellow travelers should know what happened.

Room Tip: This hotel is know for music and parties, if you want a quiet room and family atmosphere, this is NO...

Obviously you do not come to the Ushuaia for a relaxing time. That said once the party is over there is no further activity or noise from events - just maybe from a few revellers making their way to the clubs.

The breakfast (included) was good but ridiculously expensive (€49) if you arrived early as some in our group did. Likewise the cost of room service was exorbident. Eating in the beach bars is a cheaper option.

Our stage view room was aesthetically pleasing rather than functional; it had a great view. However, it was disappointing that the other 3 couples in our party were upgraded to stage view suites when we were not!

The opening party was amazing - we experienced it from in front of the stage and from the stage view suites.

The spa and gym were being refurbished when we visited although the hotel were happy to take you to an alternative. I didn't bother but would have used the gym if it had been 'up and running' on site.

The recently purchased Tower next door was a good place to sunbathe and the DJ played great stuff.

All in all a good trip and I would return.

Room Tip: Stage view is a must if you want to see the action from above. I would also try the rooms in The To...

Hands Down, the BEST party in Ibiza. World class DJ's are doing parties every night from about 6pm till midnight. The facility is perfect for the parties and daytime relaxing. By day the 3 pool areas and beautiful beach are a sexy retreat with plenty of relaxation, chill house music, and stimulating scenery. around 4pm the main pool area is transformed for the 6 till 12 party. The VIP areas are excellent for the evening parties. Be ready to spend big money for everything......but it will be worth it. The place has several buildings, know what you are booking, and make sure you get what you want. The Tower is the newest and most luxurious building, with its own separate check in area, tell the cab driver what building you want. When staying at the tower, half of the building faces the main pool area, where the parties are at night.......in my opinion it was too far away from the stage to really "see" and enjoy the light show. But you sure can HEAR IT !!! Till midnight........be ready to enjoy the music. The tower has a very exclusive and sexy pool area, with a dj spinning house music most days. steakhouse and bar are on the pool deck, and there is a "nightcub" on the roof of the tower, so when the party ends on the main pool deck at midnight, it continues on the tower rooftop...........till very late, and you can hear that music very clearly in the upper floor rooms in the tower....be ready to enjoy.

the other buildings are called the "Club". 1 bldg to left of pool and stage, 1 bldg to the right of pool and stage, 1 bldg behind pool and stage. the bldg to the left of stage is best for viewing the party from your balcony, and also has "garden" rooms on 1 st floor, that are in the middle of the party. the bldg to the right of the stage (400 and 500 bldgs) are not as good for seeing the party from you balcony........there is a VIP bar bldg that blocks the stage view for most of the 500 bldg including the 1st and 2nd floors. 400 bldg 2nd and 3rd floor balconies facing the stage look very good, but first floor stage view is blocked by VIP area and another bar. 400 and 500 buildings also have excellent "swim up" rooms, on the other side of the building, on the private pool area....there is also a swim up bar in this pool. This was my favorite pool in the afternoon as it was shady and cool and quiet.
the room i had was 500 bldg, bottom floor, stage side. it was a garden room with no view of the stage. pool music woke me up in the morning around 11am.....not an issue.
The rooms come "stocked" with bottles, enough for a huge party....but really expensive....like 100 euro for a .75 liter bottle. .75 liter bottle of grey goose was 54 euro down the street at the market, but once the 6pm party starts, you are not allowed to bring a bottle into the building. And there was no ice machine.........you could get a small ice bucket from room service for 10 euro, or a large bucket for 30 euro.......That works right into the kobe burger with fries from room service for 36 euro.

3 restaurants on property......1 steakhouse, 1 sushi, 1 beach club all very pricey, but good. lots of small cafe type places are available in 3 block walk from 'club" street entrance. My overall experience was excellent.........cleanliness, service, attitude, facility were all excellent.........But for that experience in Ibiza be ready to spend.

the only downsides were as follows, none were any kind of a deal breaker, but management needs to figure something out:

1. internet access was pathetically slow, and constantly dropped connection.
2. foot traffic access between club and tower is very awkward for guests.....you must either walk out of the property and down the street, or go all the way out behind the property and walk down the beach.......WTF? The building are right next to each other, and hotel staff have "shortcut" doors that guests are not allowed to use.......Are you kidding me? For the cost of the rooms we should have a monorail between the buildings.
3. Getting a pool towel is ridiculous......They give you a "pool towel" card when you check in. Then every time you go to the pool or beach, you better have a card to give the attendant, or you get no towel, and they are not very nice about it.When you leave the pool, better not forget to get your card back............once again WTF?? for the cost of the rooms, we should get a set of towels to take home.

Room Tip: Do your research to make sure you are getting the type of room you really want. Tower rooms are not...

Ok, so obviously this is the true place to party in Ibiza. Ushuaia attracts the biggest name DJ's across the globe. But what i want to do is make sure you know how much a ripoff it is to stay at this hotel. I have traveled all over the world and have stayed at some amazing hotels in my day but I can honestly say that I have never felt so ripped off in my life before.

For $800 a night you would expect impeccable service right? Wrong in this case! For $800 you would expect a nice room right? Wrong again.

Here are all the ways Ushuaia let me down when I stayed there in early July:

1) I was promised a room with a balcony overlooking the DJ stage. What i received was a room in the very back of the hotel (in the old tower mind you) whos view of the stage was blocked by a large palm tree
2) We paid for a room for 3 people. We expected a big enough to fit all of us. Instead it was a room less than 425 square feet with 3 tiny twin beds
3) They dont allow you to have guests on property.
4) The AC didn't work
5) The internet connection in the old tower is non existent. I didn't have internet the 3 days i was there
6) I got my backpack stolen on the beach chairs in front. When i addressed hotel management on this, they could care less. They never found my bag.
7) After to complaining to management how bad our stay was...management did nothing to compensate me. No upgrades..no price discounts. Nothing. They could care less. So now it is my goal to make sure everyone knows how bad of a ripoff this hotel is.

Ibiza is an unreal place. Check out the DJ's at Ushuaina. But don't stay here!

For $800 a night you can do a lot of things. Don't spend that money a hotel room here. Go somewhere elsewhere on Play d'en Bossa where you will pay 1/4 of the price!

Shame on the management staff of Ushuaia!

Room Tip: stay elsewhere!
