“Good Value in Costa Calma”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

The property, which boasts a 4-star rating, is located on the hillside of Costa Calma, separated from the main town centre by the FV-2, the main road running from south to north on Fuerteventura. It was a bit of a hassle to find, as it is NOT correctly pinned on Google Maps, and it does not appear to have a specific # on the “Calle Punta Pesebre” where it is located. The check-in procedure was smooth and pleasant, after scoring such a great deal on a booking engine (36 euros/night), I was positively and genuinely surprised to have also scored a decent room with a gorgeous view of the swimming pool and garden area (Room 210). The room itself was pleasantly decorated, with a comfortable bed, and massive pillows. This particular room had a 40-inch LCD TV featuring quite a good selection of German TV channels, plus all the regular Spanish ones which can be easily turned into “English” by using the remote control and selecting the “original” language. The bathroom was clean, with a bathtub that had amazing water pressure (exactly what I love). The tub itself had seen better days (it had been patched close to the drain area), but aside from that, I was happy with it.

The hotel also has a SPA with various packages that one can purchase. Available to guests for no additional price are a gym, an indoor Jacuzzi, a steam-room, and a dry sauna. I have used the dry sauna and the Jacuzzi a few times, and found it to be extremely relaxing (there was virtually nobody when I was using them).

I haven’t tried their restaurant so I cannot comment on the food or the service, but I did order some drinks while at the pool, and they were very inexpensive (a beer and a “caffelatte” came to 5 euros, a big bottle of water was 2 euros).

The hotel was extremely quiet (May 14/17 2013), and so was the area of Costa Calma.
Service by the front desk team was always personable and professional. Particularly, Sally went out of her way to find out where exactly a restaurant I was looking for outside the area was located (a nice touch I thoroughly appreciate when I travel)

I would definitely stay at this property again.

Room Tip: Ask for Room 210 or adjacent rooms if you want a nice view of the pool (room was very quiet with clo...

Got back from Best Age and Fuerteventura on 1st May after another 2 week stay! I also stayed for two weeks at the end of January and watched the snow falling at home whilst on the beach!
I must say that I have found the perfect base for my frequent visits to the island. The hotel yet again was immaculately clean, staff were cleaning, sorry, keeping it clean, at all hours of the day and night. The staff went out of their way to welcome me back on my 5th visit since last July! I was impressed with the effort that had been made with the evening meals, there were themed evenings and the usual buffet meals but it seemed a lot of thought had gone into the ambience between the two restaurants and the quality of food and the way it was cooked and presented although good, was superior to previous visits. Travelling alone I have always found the Best Age is brilliant for meeting singles and couples from around the world, this time was no exception. I made friends with people from Persia, France, Poland, Germany, England!, Spain and others. I used the pool area for the first time on this visit and I found it was a very agreeable temperature with the sun so hot it was quite refreshing to take a dip and relax by the pool, a bonus was the tranquillity of no kids! Again the beaches were superb, the courtesy coach takes you to the most stunning beaches which should be seen and enjoyed to be appreciated. If you are looking for the all over tan the beaches are for you, there are also facilities at the hotel for the opportunity to take advantage of the year round all over sun tan. If you are looking for home from home then I am sorry for you, it's not here! Come here and enjoy the tranquillity! There is a shop in the hotel where you can buy most things you need - other than fresh - at a very reasonable price. Don't worry about the negative reviews this hotel is value for money and you will not be disappointed should you choose to stay there.

Room Tip: rooms 208 - 212 or 308 - 312 give a good view over the pool area (which is quiet) and Costa Calma

This was our second visit to hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing time. Staff friendly, food excellent, hotel very quiet in April but that suited us. We were treated well by staff and management who were happy to meet any requests. Room very clean and bed linen and towels changed regularly. Didn't get the double bed we requested and beware of the slippery floor in the jacuzzi, but all in all we had two weeks of just what we wanted loads of sun after a cold miserable winter.

Room Tip: Ask for room with view of pool and sea

I wanted a place in a rush to meet a pal to walk trails for a couple of weeks, and the price here was good, so I took a chance. Its a nice setup, I was off season and it was quite (and nice). The staff were very helpful especially for ice for our daily sundowners. Entertainment, bearing in mind its was out of season was ok, The restaurant was a huge disappointment, the worst Ive encountered and I visit quite a few places during each year. In fact I would say evening meals were diabolical, sometimes nothing left. Eggs at breakfast were always solid (ask for a omelet). Hated every meal in the two weeks and Im not in any way picky. OK for salad. Beware (families) that there is a large section of the beach that is nudist, very German, I wasn't impressed. The bus from the airport took me to the hotel door (€20 per head) but the ordinary bus is €6 from the bottom of the hill. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the beach, there is a limited complimentary bus, fixed stops. Superstore at the bottom of the hill, good prices and local bars. Rooms and balcony were very nice (room 276) lots of sun in the afternoon. Good fridge in the room. English TV channels limited, lots of German and Spanish channels.

Room Tip: I had room 276 which faced the sea but very limited view of it, otherwise lovely and open. Not a poo...

We got a deal from Travel Zoo, which was an upgrade from B&B to DB&B plus a drink each at dinner
We asked for a ground floor room with a double bed, and when we arrived we found that not only had we got a double bed, but we had been upgraded to a suite which included a large living area with two sofas, coffee table, lamp table, dressing table with built in fridge and a large flat screen TV
The large bedroom seperated from the lounge by a open plan wall consisted of a double bed two bed side tables, large mirror and built in TV and off of the bed room was a modern bathroom with shower, bath and seperate WC and a large walk in wardrobe with plenty of space for clothes suit cases etc
Outside we has our own large terrace with sun loungers and table and chairs
The hotel boasts of 3 swimming pools, steam rooms, jucuzzi, fitness room & small tennis court
The hotel itself was very clean and well looked after, staff were very helpful and friendly the only down side was the location, a good 20 minute walk from the beach and not many bars or resturants etc. The upside no kids!!
Breakfast and dinner were both buffet and OK with several theme dinner nights (not sure about the Spanish idea of Chinese food though)
All in all we had a relaxing stay in the sun and enjoyed our stay

Quiet, clean very reasonably priced hotel with really excellent staff. The buffet food (especially dinner) was good, plentiful and inventive. The rooms are of a good size with balcony looking out over the pool or the mountains. Also it was child-free - so no screaming or shieking or ranting or weeping. Heaven. Yes, the refurbishment could have been extended to the fridge and the basin handles, but everything worked perfectly, and the cleaning staff work to a very high standard. There is a shuttle bus to the beach and back - miles and miles of golden sand, some really good beach bars, and in the bits with rocks behind, small colonies of charming Barbary ground squirrels. This hotel is a really good find - ignore daft reviews from people who want fry-ups at breakfast and think only German people take their clothes off. Shall we go again? YES!

The staff is very kind, rooms are perfectly clean and quiet and the SPA is fantastic!
Food is not excellent for dinner, but it's OK, and the breakfast is very complete.
It's the second time I stay at the Best Age and I had a great time !!!
