“Place of "The Master" César Manrique”
Reviewed February 16, 2011

We visited César Manrique's house, now a museum. Like the other attractions on Lanzarote this was probably the best. Paintings of the Master and others set out again backdrops of lava-tunnels and lava chambers. Most beautiful!

“Amazing”
Reviewed November 19, 2010

If you are in Lanzarote and an art lover dont miss the opportunity to visit this place. I dont wnat to spoil the surprise but Cesar Manrique's house is best described as Picasso surealist and 70's James Bond villain meets the Flintones !

This is a must see !

If you are interested in art and design, this will not fail to impress. Manrique’s design is really inspiring, and the whole house is amazing. I wish I had a house like his!

“This would have made an amazing home!”
Reviewed September 18, 2010

This attraction was pretty expensive, but I think the price is justified given the unique and interesting experience. Also the money is used to help up and coming artists. The foundation includes three galleries one that shows the work of Manrique himself, a smaller gallery that includes artwork by Picasso and Miro and another that appeared to host temporary exhibitions. The rooms on the lower level have been kept as they would have been when it was Manrique’s home and what an amazing home it must have been. The tunnels and caves are so interesting to walk though and in one of the lava bubbles is a beautiful pool like that at Jameous Del Agua. What a shame it isn’t possible to take a dip. I would definitely recommend a visit to this attraction!

“If art is an interest I would go here.”
Reviewed August 13, 2010

His house was built in the 1960's and looks like something out of a Beatles movie!
You can tell of his association in New York with artists like Andy Warhol and his influences by people such as Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró. Some of their work is also shown.
There are five areas inside volcanic bubbles, the rooms being caved into the volcanic basalt. The central cave houses a recreational area, including a swimming pool, a barbecue and a small dance floor. The place stays cool as a lot is underground.
