Plus points: I have to say that the activities at the Santa Rosa were excellent, my daughter had a blast! There was always something to do, no way could children be bored here. The staff worked very hard entertaining their guests.
The grounds were well maintained, and I have to say beautiful.
The pool is a great size, you did get used to how cold and salty it was very quickly, the maintenance guy was also the life guard, so we always felt safe.
Santa Rosa is in a quiet area, a 20 min walk or 3.50 euro taxi ride to the centre of the resort which we loved.
Bad points:You have to get up very early to nab sunbeds together. If you left it any later than 9am then it was a day at the beach (which wasnt a bad thing). You couldnt get beds in the shade for love nor money. You had to be up before 7am if you needed some shade!
The rooms were very clean, however I agree with other reviews that air-con was a great miss. You could hire a fan from reception, but the cost they wanted could buy you 3 from Argos, a total rip off.
I felt our bedroom furniture could have been changed around so that we didnt have to move a bed every time we wanted to get into our wardrobe.
The bathroom, though spotless always had a faint smell of sewage which wasnt pleasant especially in 35 degrees heat.
We were self catering so cant really comment on the restaurant, but we did order food from the pool bar once - horrible!

In summary - a very good choice for families, but remember this place is only 3 stars and you do get what you pay for.

What can I say, the holiday was absolutely fantastic. Went with my wife and three kids from 19th June-3rd July. We had been to France the previous 2 years but the weather was just too unpredictable. We arrived at Santa Rosa Apartments and it was quite warm but a bit cloudy...other than our visit to the volcano (where it was cloudy) it was beautiful sunny weather every single day thereafter. The complex is meticulously maintained and looked amazing with manicured lawns, cacti and palm trees

The kids (ages, 4,9 and 10) loved the pool (my eldest probably spent 5-6 hours in the pool every day) and the activities organised by the irrepressible Rosemary at the kids club. They genuinely looked forward to the water polo every day! We also played the tennis-type game and the kids played crazy golf several times.

Didn't really eat there as we wanted to get out into the town a bit but the happy hour drinks were certainly taken advantage of!

We cannot fault the staff, they were brilliant. I contacted them in advance of the holiday to see if we could get a bungalow by the pool and whilst they could not guarantee this, we did get it. Reception were very helpful and informative and while we were there, there was free wifi everywhere (I think they had just installed it) Towels and cleaning was done every other day and they certainly didn't skimp on the towels.

Unfortunately, I ended up leaving some electrical devices by mistake at Lanzarote airport and courier company would not collect from there. I didn't know what to do so contacted Santa Rosa Apartments to see if there was any way they could collect items from lost property at the airport, package up and be available for courier company to collect. That is exactly what they did...what more can I say about this fantastic place and that 'can do' attitude they had in helping me out with this.

So...price, weather, rooms, staff, facilities, helpfulness I could not fault.

Highly recommended and would definitely go back!

Just because Teguise is windy, this doesn't justify the lack of Air Conditioning in the apartments and restaurant. The reception has it so it must be a cost issue? Otherwise why not spend a few euros and provide it throughout. Apart from this point we can agree with most reviews on this site, the staff are very friendly, extremely hard working yet manage to be polite all at once. We stayed in a 2 bed "bungalow" and the beds were very comfy, the fridge did its main job of keeping the booze chilled and the flat screen TV was handy when the family had been burnt (sorry suntanned) enough. The pool area does have some parasols, but other guests hogged them from 7am by putting out towels which is annoying and the staff should throw their towels in the pool! There needs to be some portable parasols which can be used to protect more guests from the sun. The saltwater pool was good for cooling off (we went in their hottest, most humid heat-wave for years!) although once that salt gets in your eyes it does smart a bit. The happy hour at the pool bar (4pm til 6pm) is very good value. 3.50 euros for 2 pints and 2 diet cokes, so even the meanest people can afford that. We went Half Board and the food is wide ranging enough for anyone and of decent quality. It does get hot in the restaurant which is why air con is a must have, so don't sit near the grill or you will be cooked. We hired a car for 3 days and would definitely recommend going to the tourist sites, the best surprise we got was going to Jamos del Agua. We went in thinking it was an overpriced café, but you then wander around and realise that if you won the lottery this is the type of property you could live and die in, it was so chill out. The location of Santa Rosa is in the quieter end and the local bars were a bit boring to be honest, the centre of Teguise is better but about a 20 minute walk away. The Jabillo beach was great, with a basic snorkel kit you could see loads of fish you felt in a much more exotic place. Also from here you can go to The British Café, normally we hate places like these but the staff are from Consett in the North East, and the food was basic but very tasty. It's in a square off Avenida de Las Islas Canaries, about 5 minute form the beach. Overall we enjoyed our break but no air con means no return.

Room Tip: Go for a two bed apartment

I was going to write a detailed review but have just read Natalie's review (see below) who was there at the same time as us and she's said it all. Great apartments for a family our age (3 girls aged 6-9). Air conditioning would have made it perfect. We really enjoyed it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Santa Rosa.

Room Tip: Bungalows by the pool are great.

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Santa Rosa hotel and we were sad to leave!
We booked this holiday in June from the excellent reviews and we were not disappointed.
We are a family of 4, with 2 boys aged 5 and 7.
All the staff are extremely helpful, hard-working and friendly - Melinda and Janine in the pool bar were lovely, as were all the staff in the restaurant, reception and bars.
Our boys always had something to do - the swimming pool, crazy golf, tennis, kids club, water polo, swings, bowling, mini disco, pool, soft play centre, air hockey, table football ....... ! They went to kids club a few times and the mini disco most nights! Virginia and Lenka were fantastic with all the kids and our boys absolutely loved them.
There were lots of lovely families and the children all made friends, as did we! Sunbeds were covered in towels but like others have said, Nelson (the lifeguard) removes towels if people have not returned to their beds for a few hours! Brilliant.
The pool is salt water but the kids got used to it. It is a little cold at first but it is a welcome change to the hot sun!!!! I loved doing aqua-aerobics in the pool at 12pm and managed to work off all the pancakes that I had eaten at breakfast!
The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the centre but the walk along the beach is beautiful with 3 beaches and a fantastic park along the way! We walked there most of the time but a taxi was only 3 euros on the nights we were tired.
The 2nd beach along the walk is the best to go to if you want to snorkel and also have sand rather than rock. The fish literally swim round your feet! Take some bread....the fish love it!
The food in the hotel was fantastic - we don't know why people would moan about the food! There was loads of choice and me and my husband felt we had to roll home because we ate so much!!!! The chef cooks in front of you too which is great.
Our room was cleaned 4/5 times a week and they were very clean. We were half board so we did not use the cooking facilities but they were all very clean!
There are a couple of ways that we feel the hotel could improve slightly on.....
1) Possibly get air-con, especially in the restaurant! - the food was so lovely but we felt we rushed our meals at times because it was so hot and we wanted to get outside quickly.
2)The sleeping arrangements could have been slightly better - the camp bed was small and the sofa was just a bench. We ended up pushing the beds together and the 4 of us shared the 2 single beds and the camp bed. It didn't spoil our holiday though!
Those were the only 2 parts to the holiday that we thought we would mention as a possible improvement.
This was our first holiday abroad in 6 years and we are so happy that we chose the Santa Rosa hotel to spend our 2 weeks! We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would definitely return. Please remember that this is a 3* hotel.......for the price, I believe there is no better!
Thank you to all the staff who made our holiday memorable!

Room Tip: We were in room 1020which is just round the corner from the pool. Rooms from about 1023 - 1030 all...

We've just returned from the Santa Rosa after a 14 night stay and we not disappointed.
We arrive late on Sunday evening and was greeted by a friendly receptionist who showed us to our appartment even helping me carry my case up a flight of stairs. We were pleasantly surprised how spacious the one bedroomed appartment was. The only negative was our bedroom window opened into a corridor so the window couldn't be left open for obvious reasons. The following morning we went to reception a to see if it was possible to move to a one bedroomed bungalow that had become vacant next to family that were also on holiday. The receptionist was very understanding and arranged for the move.

Yes the pool is cold and we found the best thing was to jump straight in.Some days it felt warmer than others.
Sunbeds were always available if you got up early. It annoyed me when people placed towels on beds and then didn't come to them till mid day onwards. The lifeguard always removed towels if they were not occupied for over an hour. As he said to us one day "people tell me they were at breakfast, It doesn't take three hours to have breakfast he replies" good on him.!!!!

Our bungalow was cleaned at least 3 times a week and towels/beds were changed.

The grounds and pool area were always clean and the gardens were lovely.

Happy hour at the pool bar is great and cheap and Wi fi is free but a little temperamental. We paid to connect to Santa Rosa wi fi and it was a waste of money. You could only use it in the reception as it wouldn't connect around the pool or in our bungalow.

Costa Teguise is a 15 min stroll which is brilliant to walk off your meal on the way back. Many good places to eat with lots of choice.
Hollywood Cafe/bar across the road is a must. Great food and hospitality with chunky home made chips.

We will definitely return to the Santa Rosa. One of the best self catering holidays we have had.

This was our first holiday in the peak of summer holiday and I was dreading it if I am honest, However choosing the santa Rosa was a god send. Due to the size of the complex - it was not crowded and we had a fantastic time.

There were 7 of us - 4 adults and 3 children (2, 5 & 7) and it was perfect for us. The kids were entertained with free Mini Golf, Softplay, Bouncey Castle and the nightly childrens disco. You can also pay pool for a small fee. Rosemary the childrens entertainer who has now left was amazing and always smiling.

The staff are friendly and helpful - we had a problem with the room allocated to us upon arrivial (extremely small, faced the carpark and balcony could be accessed from the corridor) not good with a 5 year old however Jessica the receptionist was amazing and the next day she had given us various choices of rooms and we were able to change to a much nicer room.

The swimming pool was cold the first few days but soon warmed up - it probably feels colder due to the cold winds blowing accross the island. The salt water is not an issue especially if you take googles for the kids. BEWARE everyone puts their towels out at silly o clock in the morning!! However the lifeguard was brillant and if someone turned up at the pool and could not find any sunbeds he would remove the towels on beds that had not been occupied all morning (not sure why people think they can put towels on sunbeds and not even use them until after lunch!)

We stayed half board and the food was nice and we always found something we liked. Drinks are cheap especially during happy hour - 2 beers less than 2 euros.

Yes there is not a lot of entertainment at night but thats why we choose this hotel as with young children we dont want to be up drinking all night and having to listen to loud music. If nightly entertainment is what you are looking for this is NOT the hotel for you.

There are lots of restaurants, shops and bars 10-15 mins walk from the hotel or 3 euros in a taxi. And a variety of beautiful beaches (amazing to swim and snorkel with so many fish on one of the beaches).

Its not cheap to eat or drink in Lanzarote so definitely worth staying half board.

All in all we could not fault the place and will definitely be coming back again :)

Room Tip: Choose an apartment facing the pool as these are much bigger and brighter than the bungalows. Not...
