“reviews are very dubious!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We went to this resort with very mixed feelings due to what we had read previously... It was clean when we arrived, warm welcome from the receptionist and Thomson guests still evident... Good central location for Costa Teguise. We stayed for 2 weeks an throughout that time we saw very few cockroaches, and observed active cleaning of the walk through areas. However I would have liked the housekeeping to be more proactive where rubbish was concerned. My only other gripe was the charging for internet and TV, charges were high and different for independent travellers than Thomson!!!!! Overall we had a good holiday, and would definately go back as you could see that they are moving the rest forward...

We've stayed here many times in the last few years and seen much improvement to the complex. The bar area has had a refurb and is fantastic with comfy sofas to chill out on overlooking the pool. The apartments still need a refurb but are clean enough. Overall a lovely central complex just a few minutes walk to the beach. Will def be returning next year

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking heated pool as these have sun on the balcony

WE stayed in Oasis Lanz twice. First in 2009 and then 2011. 2009 was good and the club was still run by Thompson. God pools, excellent location. IN 2011 it was not in the Thompson brochure so we booked direct. The prices had increased, the staff had been replaced and new staff were not as helpful. Our friends were given an apartment overrun by cockroaches. They were moved because they complained in the middle of the night to a new 2 bedroom appartment. Our appartment was fine, they fixed the tap whcih would not work and it was clean though dated and sometimes the cleaned sheet still had marks on them and were torn but they had been cleaned. It all went pear-shaped when we discovered a couple of cockroaches so we sprayed the place but teh following night a cockroach fell on my face whilst I was asleep! Cost Teguise is nice and beaches are lovely but there are much nicer places to holiday in.

Room Tip: None - don't bother

My wife, two children both boys aged 12, 4, and I stayed at the Oasis Lanz from the 11th to 25th August 2013 self-catering.

Room:
We stayed in a two bedroom, first floor suite overlooking the children’s pool by the new restaurant / bar. I was very surprised and impressed with the overall size of the living space. It had a large dining table, two double sofas and coffee table, double balcony with table, seating, and clothes drying rack. Two good sized bedrooms with two large single beds in each bedroom with loads of storage space, both bedrooms had en-suite bathrooms. The style of the room was dated and tired, but not to the extent other reviews make out. Not immaculately clean, for example bird poo had not been bothered to be cleaned from the balcony, and it was a little grubby in corners of the main living area, but in general everywhere was clean, except for the fact it was just worn. The bathroom was perfectly clean, sometimes smelt of cigarette smoke from neighboring apartments. The kitchen however was very well maintained, spacious with everything you would need for self-catering.
The least appealing part of the room was the beds, they were extremely hard and pillows were rubbish, I didn't really have a proper night’s sleep the entire stay. My wife felt the same but the children slept fine. Both bedrooms and living area had ceiling fans that gave some relief from the heat but the noise they produced was counter effective.
Sheets were changed twice a week and the cleaning was done every other day with towels being changed that often as well. Brooms, brushes and dustpans were provided so that we could keep on top of any mess ourselves. Overall was an excellent base for our holiday.

Hotel:
The hotel was kept in very good condition, all public areas including public toilets were very, very clean and tidy, and looked very nice. The pool was cleaned most days, and was never cold. How could it be in mid-August with such high temperatures. The kids, the wife and I loved the pool and had life guards in constant attendance. My only issue is how slippery the pool side gets, I saw a few kids slip over, and that should be looked at immediately. All the staff at the hotel were very helpful, I didn't find anyone rude or dismissive, which I've found in lots of Spanish resorts in the past. All the receptionists were helpful and Daniel and Fabio that worked at the pool bar were the perfect hosts, they are a credit to the hotel. Lorenzo who organised the daytime entertainment was great even though he had a very limited attendance. Evening entertainment was poor, except Lorenzo’s magic show, which was fantastic, a definite must see. We had issues in the first week with sunbeds as a few families with no children were reserving fifteen plus sunbeds between them around the kids pool and barely using them, which was frustrating but as soon as the left it was fine. You always get a few idiots. The daytime food menu was limited, but the food that was available was great. They had an evening menu which we didn't try and by the look of it not a lot of other people did either. The bar prices were reasonable.
Yes there were sales people there from Grand Holidays but I didn't find a single one of the pushy for a sales meeting, in the end I approached them so I could see the refurbished rooms. The refirbs look good, but that’s just because the furnishings are new, which every hotel should do I guess once things become dated and tired, which they have.

To summarise Oasis Lanz is in a fantastic location for a Costa Teguise. The hotel was clean, and the staff were great, and I would have no problem going back there again, as long as they make the pool side safer for children, improve the beds, and buy more sunbeds!

Room Tip: I would recommend the 2nd pool area with the new bar/ restaurant with either first or second floor a...

We stayed in this resort from 25/07/13 till 08/08/13. We were not happy with the unit. It was not a refurbished unit when asked for a refurbished unit the guest services replied if we buy into the resort we can be moved the next day.
We made an appointment with the guest services and she failed to turn up for the appointment. We did not get an apology or a reason why she did not turn up.
We had frequent trouble with the sofa bed. This was reported to mantainence and resolved a few good times.
We had issues with the telephone having calls at 2.00 am in the morning when reported the mantainence people did come and try to sort it out but issue was not resolved.
The cleaning maid was in as expected however the balcony was not cleaned for 10 days with effect all the flowers and bottles would just blow in. Once reported the maids did clean this up pretty regularly. Towels were changed twice the 1st week but then not for the last 8 days

When asked for a British doctor the reception directed us to a private clinic and not the free one. I would have presumed that they would have sent us to the free doctor rather than the one you would have to pay for. It is partly our fault we did not check either.
Entertainment on the night was not good at all. The happy hour was put on at the same time to get more people into the bar at the same time. If that is the best they could do they it was not worth putting the entertainment at all.
The swimming pool was good but it was not possible to find a lounger as they were all taken up at all times not necessarily by people but with towels.
The location is fantastic but the restaurant needs to be imroved. Ask for refurbished apartment.
Will think twice before booking to this resort.

Room Tip: Ask for refurbished apartment

We stayed here November 2012 as a family of 5 and had a 2bed apartment. Excellent for self catering, cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, everything you would have in your own kitchen at home! slept 6-8 people, 2 bathrooms, large kitchen, pool view on ground floor with a very large balcony. Pool was a bit on the small side and seemed to have older couples lay around the kids pool which didn't seem too happy when children splashed in the pool. Entertainment was ok. Didn't eat here either so cant comment on food. Location is excellent but I don't think we will return to Lanzarote as it just seemed a bit on the quiet side for us. We did suffer a lot with cockroaches too, even coming out the door inside the dishwasher but cockroaches cant be helped! It is a timeshare place and did find getting hounded by a lady all the time who even came to try and change my mind while relaxing on the sunbed round the pool. All in all though nice place to stay

Room was dirty, shabby and could have done with a makeover years ago. I found a dirty t-shirt in the wardrobe from a previous guest not nice. The bathroom was especially disgusting the mould on the shower curtain was awful. The area in front of our apartment was not cleaned while we were there hence lots of leaves and rubbish. The gym wasn't worth writing home about dirty dark and dirty. The gardens and pool were pleasant, but serious lack of decent sunbeds meant so e people reserving them for the day even though they weren't being used !!!! However some apartments have been refurbished just make sure you get one of those because the one we stayed in was disgusting.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room, we were told by the tour rep they were all the same, THEY ARE NOT !!!
