“Good Family Holiday”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

We just got back yeserday after a lovely week at the Ficus. We have a four year old son and we were a bit disapointed to learn upon arrival that the kids club had finished on the day we arrived. Our Thomas Cook travel agent did not mention when booking that the kids club was seasonal, this is a matter I will take up with them over the weekend. However, that said, the entertainment staff at the hotel Ainsley, Hayley and Lizzy were brilliant with the kids and included them in all activities, they worked their socks off all week to entertain us. We joined in with most of the day time activities which were a laugh. The hotel was clean and welll kept, the hotel staff were helpful and friendly and seemed to work round the clock. Our little boy loved the kids pool and I liked the big pool which is deceptively large if you're brave enough to go for a swim - Lanzarote pools are cold! Overall we had a fab week, time out to relax and have fun with our son.

Room Tip: Email the hotel direct to ask for one of the refurbished rooms.

we have just got back from a 2 week stay in this hotel staff very helpful the rooms were clean and nice but i understand that we were in the refurbish block,if you like cats you will like being here as there are several kittens here and very friendly. the food was plenty and good well with something for me to eat on all meals which is good as im a fussy eater.as for the entertainment well what can i say there was 2 entertainment staff Ansley and Hayley which provided the poolside fun which my partner and his brother took part in on most off are stay and we all joined in the quiz, but i have to stay most of the work was left to Hayley to do as Ansley had his favorites and would sit with them and leave her to do it all which i thought was not fair,oh and the bingo when he did it was so long winded that you could fall asleep in between the numbers being call there were lots of people complaining about that. but overall i would go back to this place just go to cactus jack the bar down the road for your nights entertainment x

Room Tip: we were in 2301 that block has been refurbished

Just been back a week, had a good relaxing holiday. The complex was clean and everyone friendly. The staff in the restaurant were excellent they worked long hours and after the meals were over they took turns on the bar. Food was edible but nothing fancy. By the end of the week we were getting a bit bored with the food. Breakfasts were good, plenty of choice. Drinks were all on tap and just in plastic cups, coke was not up to much. Ainsley and hailey were the entertainment reps they did a good job but as people said if you didn't join in during the day time activities they didn't want to know you, you had to be in there gang. Can see how some people could be offended by ainsleys rude comments, but thought he was quite entertaining. Didn't think much about the people who cleaned the rooms, the beds were only changed about once and the same went for the towels think they were only changed once. Don't think they even swept the floors much. They did make the beds up but by the end of the week I thought just do it myself save them the both, so never left them a tip as I useualy do as don't feel they earned it. But all in all you get what you paid for and we had a good relaxing week. The life guard who looked after the pool was very friendly. Would go back to lanzarote but not to the ficus

I want to be honest with you. My wife and I went to the ficus for a cheap weeks holiday. The whole hotel was bog basic.
Most of the food was bland. (breakfast was best)
I've never eaten so much pork or chicken. (cooked in many different bland ways) We couldn't have eaten there for 2 weeks. 1 was bad enough.
The towel rail in the room was over the toilet so don't drop them off the rack. The bathroom smelt and the beds were rock hard. No aircon, so very hot and stuffy unless you risked leaving the windows and doors open for uninvited quests, robber's or the dozen or so wild cats that you share the hotel with.
Late night snacks were just dry sandwiches (ham and cheese)(not buttered)
Evening entertainment, in fact all day entertainment was rubbish unless you like bingo, quizzes, or darts. There is no entertainment on a Thursday, its their day off.
Ainsley, the entertainer is, well, " he thinks he's good". The best thing that happened to him was when some of the quests threw him in the pool. (he didn't like it)
I nearly forgot. It's a way from the seafront and you walk along a road with nothing either side but rough ground.
Staff were great though and the stay cost less than the flights but it didn't make up for it, We won't be going back unless all the other hotels in Costa Teguise have been bombed first.

Room Tip: Every thing is an extra cost so if you need a kettle, fan,TV remote, pot, pans or cutlery (for the r...

Just spent a lovely week here, it is a 3 star hotel and rooms are basic but was made very welcome by the staff there from the minute we arrived, the all inclusive restaurant offered a good variety of food and the salads were particularly tasty,( yes you did read salad on an all inclusive holiday)! It was also great to have sangria on tap too :)) the pool area was very clean and had a seperate children's area, the pool bar was a hive of activity with 2 entertainers offering fun and games during the day and evening. The hotel is ideally placed for walks into the hills and accessible via a little walk to the beach. I would definitely go back there !

Not what we would have expected for an all lnclusive holiday.the room was refurbished and we couldnt fault it but that is all i Can say as the rest of the holiday was not to good the staff were nice an. Helpful the food was not of a very high standard pork and chicken most nights and not a great choice of drinks .evening snacks was dry bread with ham and cheese every night.as for the entertainment this was non existant as the so called entertainment team consisting of ainsley and hailly were möre iterested ön having their own fun running around like idiots and taking far to long during the bingo it was only a line and full house but seemed to take forever i could go on but needless to say we Will not go back to the ficus and wont be recommending it but would go back to lanzarote

We came back to Ficus after having a great time last year and the promise of having refurbished rooms this time round. We were put into the only block that hadn't been done even though the hotel wasn't full up, and boy had they been forgotten about - the beds were rock hard so hardly any sleep and the bathroom smelled of wee, when we took the hygiene strip off the lav someone had peed in there and not flushed it before they had put the strip on. Theres still no aircon so stifling hot the whole time even with the window open.

The restaurant has an area for kids food, usual nuggets frankfurters and chips but this has reduced the choice for adults and we found it so repetitive, with pork EVERY day and very budget dishes on the menu every night, well cooked but seems the chef is too lazy to think of anything new.

Entertainment team is as expected, dismal and if I had kids with me I would want my money back. Ainsley is new since last year and spends his whole time making crude jokes and flirting with all the young lads, pretty much dominating the whole day with his disruptive rude behaviour and too near the knuckle personal comments and insults, so much that lots of the guests are talking about putting in a complaint. If you become one of his favourites youre ok but if you are another guest then good luck with that one, youre pretty much ignored the whole time by him. His sidekick Hayley tries hard but is too quiet to make any difference.

Security is a bit rubbish, last year we had an early morning pick up and had to climb the wall to get out because the manager said he was sleeping so didn't hear us knocking so we could hand back the key. Loads of groups thought it was funny to start bombing in the pool at 3am a couple of nights running but the guard didn't even bother coming out of his office to sort it out.

all in all we were so disappointed, seems that the place is full of chavs mostly from Yorkshire taking their kids and extended families out of school time to inflict their gross manners and big mouths on the other guests trying to enjoy a break away. Bit like Jeremy Kyle but with sunshine.

Sadly we wont be going back there, what a difference from our views last year.

Room Tip: Block five hasn't been refurbished yet, but if you want the sun in the afternoon choose either b...
