“Not what I expected.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

Myself and my partner decided to go away for the new year. We arrived on the 26th December 2012 and was there til 2nd January 2013 was told that they were fully booked and would we like to go to the sister hotel as it is bigger and better. We are very disappointed and returned back to ficus. The rooms were average and towels were changed sometimes every 2days. The entertainment was that back we only went once and went into Teguise town every night after that.
The food was okay but not much variety every day and we ate out for a few evenings.
The pool area was quite small and too many people putting down towels saving the sunbeds. We would go to the beach which was lovely and only a 10 min walk.
You had to rent a kettle,tv remote and an iron with no ironing board available.
The staff were friendly and helpful but the resort was not for us and we would not go again.
We loved Lanzorote and would go again but closer to the town area.
We would recommend that you do the wild west show as that was fantastic on new years eve, everything was great.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and overall it was excellent, from Reception staff to restaurant staff to bar staff and cleaners they were brilliant, the hotel was clean everywhere, if you had a problem Reception were only too happy to help. The food was basic but there was a good variety to pick from. A VERY BIG thank you to Laura, Charlotte and Lee the reps and entertainment staff they were marvellous, they coped very well with 24 older loud Geordies. They looked after young and old,and they treated everyone with respect. Thank you Laura, Charlotte and Lee for making our holiday so much fun. Typical Teguise everything wide spread but no reason to leave this hotel as everything is there for you. Thank you again everyone at Ficus from Lilian and Neil.

nice hotel, not too far from town or beach, food nice, staff customer service excelllent, enterainment team brilliant. at this time of year weather changable in the mornings, very cool at night so warm cardigan or jumper needed. bus stop to other resorts just down the road and fare 3 euros. if you want 4 star or 5 star you need somewhere else but this hotel is adequate and well placed for our family it was good. and would reccommend, but like everything else everybody different and has own opinions. but if you try it i am sure you wouldnt be disappointed, it all depends on what kind of holiday you looking for,,,,,,,,,,,,, happy holidays peoples enjoy, o and another thing loads of bars just around the corner,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Room Tip: all rooms face pool

Have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and on the whole we enjoyed it but we were disappionted that there was no wi fi and no air con this is ok in january but in the middle of summer could be difficult. The food was good with plenty of variety although a little repetitive. The room was ok but we had ants in the kitchen area and we did not find the room to be as clean as we would have expected. The room was basic but we liked the lounge area with the tv.The staff were very friendly and made us welcome. One of the trips we went on to peurto del carmen to see a drag show was rather spoiled on the way home when Nick the Thomas cook rep got drunk and on the way home he was trying to force the guests to play games it was only the other young reps who joined in he commented that hed got the sack last year for the same thing. It would have been helpful if we were told to take a jacket for Timanfaya volcano as it was freezing cold at the top. When we went on the trip to the green caves we should have been told that steep inclines and narrow paths would present themselves some of the guests were unable to leave the bus and were not up to it.The tour guides i have to say were excellent carlos and joannie very knowledgable and polite and respectful. We did enjoy our holiday but wished to point this out.

Room Tip: as there is no lift many appartments are up two flights of stairs if u would have a problem with tha...

We have just returned from Ficus hotel in Lanzarote, it was such a splendid time and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The price we paid for a beautiful holiday is nothing in comparison with what we gained:great time, lots of rest and energy and a sun tan:)!The staff were very helpful and friendly, warm smiles, positivity around you which makes you forget about everything in the world and just enjoy your time. The rooms were great, we had a cot for our 2 y.o. Everything was neat and tidy no super luxury and you do not need one, when you have fantastic weather and plenty of things to do outside. The rooms were cleaned every day and we had fresh towels. You can hire a kettle, safe , tv and hair dryer for affordable price. You get what you have paid for and that is more than enough. If you are after wild parties and luxury than it would be better finding some other hotels, but Ficus has homey , cosy , warm and friendly atmosphere, plus the food was splendid,we had no complaints! It is just the right distance from centre commercial, so it is rather convenient for shopping. I would say it is an amazing hotel for families and we would gladly return to Ficus again! Huge thanks to the staff!

returned from the Ficus 27th December after staying two weeks AI,
I travelled as a single man of 52 looking to get away for Xmas and used lowcost holidays who packaged the deal and sorted transfers etc... do not get the transfer bus get a taxi if there are more than one of you I waited nearly 1.5hrs for the bus to leave the airport because it waited to be filled up by the people arriving on a plane an hour after mine had landed and it's only 20ish euro in a cab.
The hotel is a budget hotel so you get what you pay for it will cost a euro a day for the tv and a euro a day for a ketttle and 17euro for the safe(really annoys me because I don't think they've ever had a theft)
The food was ok a bit basic but I survived two weeks ok you're never going to get posh food when they cater for 0-90yr old Brits the food is what they think we like and they are probably right.. the entertainment is best described as Butlins like abroad but how else can you keep people happy who don't want to leave the hotel for fear of having to spend money.
All in all I had a great time Costa Teguise beautiful place with nice walks cycle routes mountains to climb and much better than anywhere in Tenerife.
I do advise though to budget £50 per person to just walk to the bars on the seafront now and again rather than stay on the hotel grounds,
The best testement however would be to say that I probably would go again.

Arrived to smiling staff who were more than accommodating with the surprise of an illuminous wrist band that had to be worn throughout the stay. Given key to room with a map and 1st task? Find the room. Now then, the room; clean, tidy, spacious for 2 people and warm from the sun during the day, but.. Very dated, a little run down and benches for mattresses. Then again, we didn't really spend much time in the room why? We were either: 1. Chilling around or in the icebox of a swimming pool, which if your brave you have to try diving into at 10:30 am on your first morning haha! Or 2. Dinning on the multitude of dishes available in the dinning room. The food was really nice and if there early; always hot, but a little repetative. Then again, the comfort of being fed without the worry of cleaning after makes up for it as the always smiling staff were quick to clear the tables in order for a clear table before dessert. Or 3. Out on various trips which I might suggest you book through lastminutetravel.com down the street as they are VERY competative when it came to prices. Anyway, as for the hospitality, if relaxing by a pool is more your thing, the reps do play basic but fun games throughout the day if you are willing to take part. The evening entertainment if I'm honest was varied.. Good one night, poor the next, but as I always say, you make what you can of a holiday. Speak to people and you can make it more fun. All in all, lovely area and close enough to main shops and amenities. Would deffinately go back to Costa Teguise but next time, although Ficus was good, might check out other places first. As for going all inclusive? Never again will I go self-catering. Oh, and one more thing; the christmas dinner: LOVELY! Now a lot of people DID dress up, I found comfortable clothing surficed. If prawns, miniture lobsters, duck, sammon, steak, turkey, ham, maccaroni cheese and trimmings doesn't hit the spot, the array of desserts set out to finish surely sealed the deal. Out of 5 in total? Over-all; 4/5. :)
