“Very Tired and Entertainment A Joke”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Recently returned from a 2 week stay at the Ficus from 16th to 30th December - costa teguise was very nice in itself but I would not return to the Ficus.
Food was average but the restaurant was a bit claustrophobic as none of the doors around the area were opened allowing fresh air to circulate - you do not need to go all inclusive in Lanzarote - it is very cheap to eat out!
We were on the 3rd floor - no lifts so carrying the bags up on arrival was a bit of a pain - literally!
staff seemed to be generally disinterested and the 'entertainment' was a joke - kids playing at being 'reps' - terrible - after the first few days we couldn't stand it any more so went out every night!
Sun beds were awful, no pads or lift up back's for support - people were having to buy lilo's!!
The location of the Ficus wasn't right in the centre but it wasn't too far - quicker to go over the 'cinder path' if it was daylight, too dangerous in the dark!
Pool was freezing - I regularly saw the terror on faces as they went in so I steered well clear!
The trip to Teguise market was an experience I would recommend but would advise that you make your own way via public transport for 4 Euros each - don't do what we did and fall for the rip off that is the 'deal' offered by "Legends" - bus trip and a sunday dinner for 10 Euros each - cheaper (and better) to do it yourself!
Went by public transport to Peurto Del Carmen - only 5 Euros 60 for 2 people (single) but I would suggest going about lunchtime - steer clear of between 10 and 11 o'clock - buses are rammed!!
Flintstone's bar on the beach front do 'proper' chips - if that's what you fancy! Cactus Jack's was a good place for a night out.
Although we had a good holiday it was down to the fact that we spent a lot of our time out and about - the Ficus was dissapointing - would definately not go back!

We have just returned from a weeks stay here from 23rd Dec to 30th Dec. We went for Christmas and traveled as a family with a 3 1/2 year old and my husbands parents who are 68 and 70.

First impressions and welcome of the aparthotel was really friendly and this was throughout our stay, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The rooms ( we had to adjoining) were clean but very tired and in need of updating and decorating. My thoughts are that you don't go on holiday anyway to spend time in your room, so i could put up with it.

My general grudge is that you had to pay extra to use the television, hairdryers and also a kettle.

We booked this hotel as it was advertised by the Thomas Cook rep as having a kids club and good entertainment for the kids and family. There was absolutely no kids club at any time during our stay, the pool was so cold, my son said it was from the arctic circle, (impressive for a 3 1/2 year old). We were unable to use the pool at all.

the evening entertainment was poor to say the least. I felt as though a couple of kids had left college and thought they would have a go at a few songs, other than this there was the usual bird shows.

i would definately return to Costa Teguise, but not to this hotel. I would prefer to pay more money and have a better quality break.

we fancied some thing different for once at xmas and we got it,sun sea and sangria on the beach on xmas day. not the usual rain, snow, sleet etc (strange).
1st impresions a very warm sunny welcome with friendly helpful staff and we got a room in block three which we asked for top floor prior via email.
The hotel/apartments were clean tidy but dated and tired, but servered our purpurse (after all we didnt go on holiday to spend our time in the apartment).
The usual statements of food, drink and entertainment much the norm at this level of star rating.
Food was plentiful not always hot ,a good choice but basic
Drink from the bars forget alcholic yea ha ha none alcholic all round
Entertainment as said before was a bit saturday night at local working mans club but they were kids and they tired if you know what i mean.
Everybody has their own views take it or leave it BUT people must remember the value of money and you only get what you pay for.
Having said all this we did stay there xmas day and boxing day has part of our week stay and they really did them selves proud with the gala dinner on xmas day.
The dinning room was really too small for AI board i think BB or half board, you chose would be more appropiate ?

Room Tip: block three or four top floor for sun on the blacony all afternoon and eve also away from show bar a...

We stayed at the Ficus for a week from 16-23rd December. The rooms were spotless, although we only saw a maid 4 days out the 7, and had towels changed 2 times. All the staff are very nice, we arrived at 3 pm as the dining room was closing for lunch, and were immediately offered to go through and have something to eat, they would stay open for the new arrivals, alternately there would be snacks laid out in aprox 40 mins (we went all inclusive) Food always good, no complaints, and always a decent choice at all meals, we always had a good breakfast and felt no need to have lunch! Beautiful pool, although freezing my husband said it was refreshing after sitting in the sun! Only thing that I found annoying was the constant music from the pool bar, it was NOISY!!!! But never once were we kept awake by noise from anywhere, when we got to sleep that is, beds hard as bricks, and I like my comfort, I coped by sleeping on top of the blankets that are supplied, pressumably if someone else is sleeping in the living room, that way it gave some extra padding, if a bit warm! The welcome meeting was ok, but the Thomas Cook rep(cant remember his name) wants to slow down a bit!!!!!!! He rattled off his "speech" at 200 miles an hour! Entertainment was nil if you arent a child or a teenager. Was really worried before we went after reading here about the break-ins but thankfully we didnt hear about any when we were there. Would we go back to the Ficus? Dont think so, but enjoyed the Lanzarote sunshine a week before Christmas.
