“Ignore The Moaners!”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

Just returned from spending a week at the Siroco. I must say that having read quite a few negative reviews before our departure we were unsure as to what to expect when we got there. I can honestly say we need not have had any worries. I think the moaners need to accept they have booked a two star economy break, not the Hilton or Ritz!!!

We stayed in the main pool side area overlooking the gardens as the Serenity was fully booked when we enquired about upgrading, but were pleasantly surprised. The apartments are basic but were perfectly adequate and kept very clean. Full marks to the housekeeping team. The kitchen appeared to be fully equipped but as we were all inclusive we only used the fridge and kettle. Bedding was changed mid-week and towels every other day which is better than we have had in some higher graded hotels. The beds were quite firm but everybody has different ideas of a comfy bed so the hotel will never please everyone. Spare blankets were in the wardrobe and we did need to put these on the beds as the nights were very chilly. Plenty of hangers for clothes. Nice balconies to sit on to enjoy an early evening drink before dinner.

The dining room was efficiently run. The food was better than we were expecting with plenty of choice at all meals and kept topped up right to the end of all meal times. The salads were excellent. If people cannot find something they like out of the selection put out every day then they must be extremely fussy eaters and should look at booking four star not two. The "snacks" did look poor, but surely people can get enough food to eat when there are meals three times a day. We went out in the day quite a lot and often missed lunch but simply waited for dinner.

The pool side and bar were kept clean and tidy. The pool bar was basic but seemed perfectly ok for its purpose through the day - providing a seating area and drinks service. Yes, at times we did have to wait for the bar staff to appear but they were busy doing other duties as well as serving drinks and I honestly don't think we were kept waiting more than a couple of minutes at any time. There appeared to be enough sun loungers but due to the cold, very strong winds and cloudy skies that were there most of our week, they mainly stood empty.

All of the staff were very friendly and seemed to be doing their best to keep all guests happy. I don't know who the miserable members of staff are who are mentioned in previous reviews as we didn't come across one - perhaps some guests should look at the attitude they take with them before they start to decry the hotel staff! I did hear one man complaining in a raised voice to the barman that he should be there at all times to serve guests drinks and not go "floating off elsewhere" when he felt like it. I had seen the poor lad clearing poolside tables and he come straight back to serve when he saw someone waiting. Shame on you Mr.Grumpy.

The one thing that I would suggest needed looking at was the lack of somewhere warm and comfortable to sit and have a drink in the evenings. Apart from the small disco room there was only the pool bar area and as it is open at both ends so the wind whistled through it like a wind tunnel, making it extremely cold and unwelcoming. Perhaps a sliding door could be fitted at one end to reduce the gale blowing through? Because of this we went out most evenings to Cactus Jacks bar round the corner and would recommend this place to anyone.

Due to the poor weather we went out four of the days we were there. This was made easy by the efficient regular buses which stopped just down the road. We did find that simply going down the coast a small distance made a big difference - Puerto Del Carmen was much warmer and was sunny and down in Playa Blanca it was very sunny and hot. Perhaps for a cheap sunshine Spring break we picked the wrong resort but we did choose the right hotel to use as our base.

To sum up. Staff all very good.Food very good. Rooms better than expected. Pool looked great - shame about the weather. For an economy break this was a good choice of hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a cheaper choice of hotel for a week away with a 15 minute walk into the centre and a 5 minute walk to the beach.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in the siroco, we upgraded to the serenity area on an all-inclusive basis where it is a separate area that requires a pass to enter, it has its own pool and bar and no children are allowed, this may not suit everybody but we enjoyed the peace and quiet.
We ate in the main area where the food was excellent and had plenty of choice at each meal and the staff all over the site were so friendly and helpful although I found some did not speak English to a great standard they always understood what I wanted somehow or other and many of them liked to pick up on some English. A great holiday and would love to go there again

Room Tip: families ask for a pool view couples go for quieter

Have just returned from a 2 week stay at the apartments. We booked the premium apartment in the serenity area as it was only £70 more. We contacted the apartments several months prior to our arrival and requested a top floor room that got the sun and that is exactly what we were given- so full marks for that.
Unfortunately the premium rooms were what I would consider to be standard- the only difference being a hairdryer and a large screen TV ( which only had 2 English channels!).
Positives-
Rooms were cleaned every other day and were cleaned to a high standard.
Equipment in rooms very good-fridge,microwave/grill and a hob.
Pool area and gardens in serenity area well maintained.
Plenty of sun beds
Reception and all cleaning and maintenance staff very friendly.
Good location
Negatives-
Charges made for everything ie. Wifi,Safe and even a deposit for the TV remote control!
Apartments would benefit from air conditioning/heating.
Storage in rooms adequate however only 5 coat hangers for 2 people! make sure to take your own.
Main reception area could do with a revamp and although we didn't use the restaurant or bars they looked very clinical and uninviting.
Overall these apartments were very good value for the money we paid and we probably would return in the future.

Just came back from 1 week break at the Siroco in the Serenity Area. We originally booked a Standard Apartment in this area but due to a mix up with our booking we were upgraded free of charge to a Premium Room.
Excellent start to the holiday as room we were allocated was lovely and had everything we needed. Even supplied proper duvet quilts not those fleecy blankets you normally get. The Serenity area was also lovely well kept, quite, peaceful with some back ground music during the hours that the bar was open. The pool was BALTIC this is my only complaint......it was like jumping into a bath of ice whish for me was a little disappointing as I love to swim but it was impossible to stay in for any length of time as it was so cold. Am sure it would be fine in the summer months.
I honestly cannot speak highly enough about these apartments and the area we stayed in. We went away for a week to relax in the sun and that's exactly what we did. I wouldn't hesitate to book the Siroco Serenity again.
This is my 2nd stay in CT and again had a ball at this resort which is fab, and so cheap to eat out, in, whatever you choose to do.
The weather was great for the week we were there a day that was overcast the full day, but we knocked it off otherwise according to other guests. It was very windy at night and cold but no complaints from us!
I will most likely return to Lanzarote in the summer and may look at staying here again for 2 weeks this time instead of 1 week....which just wasn't enough.
If you choose this hotel, considering the price, you will not be disappointed.

I booked to stay at club siroco 6 months ago as I was told via a Thomas Cook travel agent that it has great apartments and hotel is very clean, booking to stay at club siroco was the biggest mistake ever, the toilets in are apartment was flooded water from the toilet poring out on to the floor, every time you flushed the toilet it would the come up into the bath, so couldn't use the bath, the food is always the same with flies around the food, as we paid the all inclusive, there was no entertainment for children, had to get a bus into town which took an hour to get to and realised the weather in porta Carmen was amazing as in Targuise the weather was really bad and was told by one of the locals that tar targuise is not the place to come if you don't want wind for the hole time of your holiday and your a sun person. Had to pay extra to move hotels to Los jameos an amazing and fantastic hotel staff are brilliant rooms are cleaned every day and entertainment for the kids.

We stayed at Club Siroco on a self-catering basis for a week at the beginning of February. We thought the apartments were clean and comfortable and the complex itself was well looked after. The staff were friendly and helpful and the apartment was cleaned more regularly than we had expected. We can't comment on the food as we didn't eat in the complex. We noted other comments before we went that the apartments were a long walk out of the centre. We didn't find this to be the case. It was a lovely 15 minute gentle walk along the coast or 10 minute walk along the main road. We would definitely consider visiting these apartments again if we go back to Costa Tequise.

We booked a premium room in the serenity area, these are really what you would expect as standard rooms. Although there's nothing that will spoil your holiday, there's nothing to give you that feeling you've book premium. No curtains in the bed room, sticking doors, unable to close bedroom door, crooked sockets, no drawer for cutlery (in a plastic jug), missing drawers from units. Just little things really but a lot of them.
The serenity area is quiet, a little too quiet, no back ground noise, so if a group of people are talking it seems like they are being too loud. The grounds are very well maintained.
If the price is right I would stay again, but it is at the far end if the resort, but it's flat and only 15 mins to the centre of things.
Didn't eat here, but heard loads of people complaint about them constantly running out of drinks and snacks.
There is a bar called sunset which do great snacks and with a daily special along with apple crumble and a drink for €10 makes great value. Tried a spit roast chicken as well, this was delicious and only €7.
It was cold and very windy at night but we had enough blankets to keep us warm. The staff and cleaners are very friendly and always spoke.
The bus stop is close by you can go to Arrecife for €1.35 or Puerto del Carmen for under €3.
