Blue Sea Costa Teguise Beach
Ranked #37 of 38 Hotels in Costa Teguise
Reviewed December 10, 2013

Just returned after a four night break to this hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the sea and the beach.

People really need to do their homework about this hotel. Yes there are re-furbished rooms which are let through a German Agent and these guests pay an extra 30 euro per night for re-furbished rooms with sea view. These guests use the same pool, eat the same food and drink the same drinks although there is a gated chill out area for these guests only (code whilst we we there 2411) - but they have paid extra. This did not bother us as we also had a lovely chill out area too. I did my homework and e-mailed prior to arriving and was given a beautiful room overlooking the sea, pool and the chill-out area. The room was basic but served it's purpose for 4 nights - how long do you really spend in a room whilst on holiday. Some of the complaints on here are in my eyes unfounded - people book a cheap holiday and when they think somebody is getting better than them they complain. Some of the English guests were extremely rude and somewhat embarrassing during our stay here. Please treat people how you would like to be treated and maybe if you do have reason to complain the lovely staff here will help you more efficiently. We also found the hotel to be very clean. The cleaners cleaned all of the bar area, chill out area etc..... each morning from 8.00am and the pool was also cleaned every day whilst we we there. Maybe again the people complaining that they never saw this happen were sleeping off a hangover !!! My only complaint sunbeds very uncomfortable and you had to pay for a mattress.

We were on an AI Basis and to be honest we found the food to be fine. Good choice at breakfast and always meat and fish to choice from at lunch and dinner. Plenty of salad, bread, pasta, rice, chips, puddings. People who have said there is only burgers, pizza and hotdogs for dinner - this is not true - yes there is this choice but this is the snack choice and not your main lunch. As for people complaining they had food poisoning please rest assured I ate at the restaurant every day for four days and I was fine. I have had food poisoning once in my life and was in hospital for 5 days - these people with upset stomachs probably drank too much !!!! We also found the AI drinks to be ok - vodka was fine and my friend said the beer was good too - other people who we met said the wine was good as were the cocktails. Also available was water, tea and coffee. AI drinks finish at 10pm but the bar continues serving until midnight when you had to pay. The drinks are not expensive outside the hotel so we used to go out after dinner on an evening.

A few things you may want to know whether you are SC or AI. You have to hire all electrical items here i.e. kettle, toaster, microwave, fans so please take this into account when booking. We took a travel kettle even though we were AI for a morning cuppa. WiFi is available but you also have to pay for this but there are plenty of bars within walking distance where you can grab a drink and use their free WiFi.

All in all we had a great stay here and it was excellent value for money. I would gladly go back to this hotel. It is a shame that some people do not focus on positives rather than negatives - If you want The Ritz please pay for it :-)

Please contact me if you require any further information.

This is a budget hotel, like a budget airline the extras cost, TV, kettle, toaster, fan, hairdryer and upgraded room all cost more, we stayed all inclusive at the end of November and had a room with a pool and sea veiw, which was clean if dated, we found the beds OK but the pillows were awful, the food was fine plenty of it and always a good choice, all the staff were very pleasant and helpful during our stay, all the public areas were kept clean and tidy. For what we paid we got fair value for money, my only concerns were the pillows a little investment here would improve the sleep quality, our room was by the tennis cours and was noisey at night from the near by night clubs until 4.00am, so if you want a quite night get a room near the sea.

Room Tip: Quite rooms are nearer the sea

It is hard to put into words how awful this place is. Having blind booked it as a 3 star (via Sleazy-jet holidays) I was unfortunate enough to have found good reviews that didn't alarm me in any way. Upon arrival at 2.30pm Spanish time, having been up since 3.30am, we were told out room wouldn't be ready for at least an hour. We were told to wait at the bar and go and check if it was ready later. Having left a snowy UK, we were dressed in warm clothing. It was 25 degrees in Lanzagrotty, so we were trying to strip off in a dignified manner to cool ourselves whilst sipping very over priced beer. Over an hour later and the rooms were still not ready and we started to kick off. After 15 minutes we were handed keys, given vague directions in a thick Spanish accent and left to drag our baggage to the appartment. Nothing could have prepared me for what we found.

I had booked a 1st floor double room with a sea view. We were given a ground floor room withtwo single beds and a view of a manky swimming pool or the bars surrounding the compound via a broken window. The place stunk of sewers and eye watering-over-powering bleach. The tiles throughout not only made it look like a public toilet, it smelled like one too. The single beds had matresses on that a mouse would have found too thin and uncomfortable. The electrical fittings had missing covers and exposed wires and were hanging off the walls. The pipework throughout the rooms was rusty and the electrics to the water heater were clearly bodged up and dangerous. I have a whole collection of photos that tell this tale in glorious technicolour... not nice.

A very long story later and Sleazy-Jet weren't interested and only offered to put us somewhere else for a price. We were stranded there having already paid over the odds for a holiday as it was school holiday time and they weren't prepared to budge on it costing us more if we wanted to move. I have also wrangled with them ever since (the last set of emails were in August I think and the holiday was March/April) and they come back with the same stock answers. The hotel insist they are 2 star and Sleazy insist the hotel is a 3 star... and because Sleazy is always right, the customer is wrong. Period. We were offered a different room by the girl on reception who was being battered like this by at leat four other couples but it was no different. We just got out of Dodge and counted our blessings.

The Blue Sea Teguise Beach Apartments are situated in a great location, on the seafront and close to the beach. Our apartment 123B was very spacious and clean. Apparently it had been recently refurbished.

Unfortunately though, it is in a very shaded area where the sun is not directly seen at any time of the day in November (and possibly at other times of the year as well). This was a disappointment to us as we would have liked to relax on the balcony in the sunshine. (The weather was pretty sunny most of the time but the wind was chilly some days).

The breakfast was good, although the choices were exactly the same every day. Lunch too was OK but also with limited, repeated, choices. We only ate dinner on the first evening and, as it was very disappointing in terms of choice and quality, we did not eat dinner again. We used local restaurants that were very good both in terms of food quality and value.

Drinks were mostly good except for the wines which were not at all to our taste. They were served from a pump and tasted very weak and as if they may have been diluted in some way.

All the staff were very helpful, courteous, friendly and polite.

We stayed here in October and it was the worse place we have ever stayed in. It was everything bad as has already been described in other reviews. We demanded our money back at the reception so that we could go somewhere else. In the end we stayed put but were so glad to leave, we did actually wonder if one of the receptionists was the daughter of one of the cleaners as they were so rude. When we got home we wrote to the company who we booked the hotel from and after much denial from them that the place was as bad as we said it was they agreed to give us a partial refund which was better than nothing.

My partner and I stayed at the blue sea from 28th nov until 1st December. Thank heavens it was only 3 nights! On arrival not too bad then we got to our room, room 128. The place was falling apart and not very clean. We thought make do as it's only 3 nights. Then we found 2 cockroaches crawling along the worktop at the cooker, we asked for a move but the receptionist was rude and told us no! Did not sleep for the fear if cockroaches. We were told that's why there is a cockroach spray in the room. Later found out not all rooms have this spray. Window unsafe. Patio door hardly opened.

All inclusive is a joke! Food is terrible and cold. Service isn't great, had to pay for tv, also costs €1 euro to toast a sandwich. Drinks are tiny. The nice areas are German only.

Great location but that's it. Never be back here. Glad to be home.
