4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is our 4th stay at this Apartment/Hotel in the last 3 years. We have alwyas enjoyed our stay there although we have not made much use of its facilities apart from the apartment and reception. There is a restaurant that serves buffet style meals, a bar, pool bar, 2 adult swimming pools and 2 childrens pools and a childrens play area. The hotel rooms are essentially in 2 sets each set surrounding one of the 2 adult pools some rooms have sea views, others not or at least very limited sea-views. All the rooms are at ground, 1st or 2nd floor level. If you are elderly or limited by stairs then you need to be aware that a large number of the rooms are not serviced by lifts so you need to specify which block you want with a lift. Blocks E8, E9, E10 and E 11 all have lifts but blocks E1 to E7 don't. Carrying suitcases up two flights of stairs is hard work, not to mention each time you leave and enter your room so be aware (see photo).
The rooms are spacious and well laid out all with a balcony, they are getting a bit on the well used side of things but are clean and cleaned about 4 times a week by the maid.
There is a safety deposit box in each room but you have to buy the rental at 13 euros a week with a refundable deposit of 20 euros.
A TV remote control is avilable for a refundable 20 euros. Matresses for the sun-loungers are 6 euros a week.

The hotel is situated at the end of Ave Jablillo facing towards Arrecife Port where the cruise liners stop. Along the front of the hotel are anumber of shops a restaurant and the bar Iguana where you can get snacks and drinks and will be welcomed by the friendly owner. There is a Tobacconist/Liquer/Money exchange shop next to the bar 'Sonalis' where the prices and exchange rates are good but from my experiences you need to watch your change and exchange rates closely. There are innumerable bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk all very good. Each eveing there is live entertainment in the 'Square' behind the Funde Grubbe' store on Calle las Olas. Under the band stand where the artistes perform is a little bar called 'The Snug (Mandy's Bar)' where you get good value drinks and service.
You can walk along the sea front in both directions along a weel paved sea-front to the right and a less weel paved walk to your left. Also there are signed walks that follow green red and blue walks along the sea front and behid Costa Teguise - if you like walking they're very enjoyable. If you go left along the sea front you can see a a small village on the hillside which you can walk to - nothing there but the walk is nice and the view back to Costa Teguise is good.
Visit Teguise market on a Sunday for a good shopping experience or Playa Blanca market. The trips available are also good and enjoyable and wort doing to see more of the island.
Of special note for us at least is Restuarant Vesubio very close to the hotel on the sea front behind the 'Customer' travel services kiosk - very good italian meals nice view towards Arrecife and friendly and excellent service. The other place of speical note is the chinese buffet restaurant offering as much as you can eat for 4.5 euros but you must also buy a drink th food is excellent with a very extensive selection of dishes to choose from. Across the road is a well stocked supermarket if your self-catering.

That's about it apart from mentioning the beds are hard.

We've stayed at Playa Blanca but prefer Costa Teguise.

Room Tip: Blocks E1 to E3 overlook the street but have a sea view. Blocks E6, E8 to E10 look from the map like...

me and my boyfriend stayed in these apartments from 11th till 25th october and i have to say it was lovely.the rooms were large and had everything we needed for our self catering holiday.cannot fault this hotel at all, its bigger than what i thought and the staff can never do enough for you, always really friendly and helpful.the lady in the daytime pool bar is lovely and is always smiling.the only disapointing thing is other people staying there must get up at 6 in the morning to lay their towels out on the sun beds and not lay on them till tea time! we decided to eat in the apartment restaurant one night, and we didnt like the food very much, so we ate out every night after that

the apartments was very central to bars, restaurants and shops. the small beach was just over the road as well, theres everything you need near by, a supermarket outside the galeon and a place to book trips to.we booked the north tour which cos 76 euro for both of us including lunch which was quite cheap, the north tour was amazing we saw, caesar manrique foundation, caesar manriques house, the green caves, and jamos del agua, we also booked to go to teguise market which was only 4euro per person return.

theres a lot of very nice restaurants to try and bars, we tried a bit of everything from chinese buffet, to indian, to canarian food.out of all the bars we liked saxos a lot and the staff there are lovely, there is bowling for the kids, and they do yummy cocktails!

we are definately going to go back to costa teguise and will probably stop at these apartments again, we enjoyed out stay very much, so overall a fantastic holiday!

stayed here september 2012, very spacious and comfortable, clean apartments at an affordable price. Perfect for couples like us or families. The only negative point is there is no air conditioning and apartments can become very hot.

Returning next year as very pleased with accommodation and found out at end of holiday you can hire fans for rooms.

Very close to variety of bars and restaurants and most needed if self catering, supermarkets. Close to two beaches, in fact very well situated.

Room Tip: If you are disabled ask for ground floor or block with lifts

My partner and I stayed at the Galeon Playa at the beginning of October for 2 weeks, the apartments are in a good location,a little busier than we are used to. Although we had a sea view , which was nice,a drawback for us was we were looking out on a busy road and children`s play park, which could be very noisy. The rooms are very spacious and have everything you need for self catering, which we were, never used the restaurant so cant comment on the food, the rooms were cleaned four days a week and linen and towels changed very regularly, which was good, one negative is the beds, they are very uncomfortable, The apartments are in a good location for the big beach and also there is a lovely little beach across the road from the apartment. An advantage of the room were were in was we could hear the live music every night from La Vida whilst sitting on the balcony at the end of the night with a drink. All in all a good stay, would definately return to Costa Teguise but maybe not the Galeon Playa as we like to try different hotels.

Just returned from a week at the Galeon Playa.
The apartment overall was ok. It was not a 'British 3*' but definitely a '3* Abroad'. We had a pool view which was fabulous apart from during the day where there was no breeze and the apartment became quite stifling, even with the windows and sliding doors open. As there is no air-con, I recommend anyone invest in a fan if you're going to be in the apartment during the day.
The bedroom window was a bit like a prison cell window - high up on the wall, very small and bars across it. We couldn't keep it open at night as it opened onto the corridor and people are not quiet when returning to their apartments.
The bathroom needs some upgrading and wasn't the cleanest we've ever stayed in. It was functional and that's all we needed.
The living room was very spacious with a kitchenette at one end. We didn't use the microwave or hob as we ate out but we used the kettle and toaster. Both were fine.
The maid service could definitely be improved. As we were in the apartment when she came (3 times in a week) it may have intimidated her as she didn't sweep all of the floor, just a quick flick with the broom, ignored the kitchen area and didn't go near the balcony. She made the beds but didn't change them the whole time we were there. However, after all of that, we've definitely stayed in a lot worse. We were told to dial '5' if we needed reception but couldn't find a phone in the apartment!
If you like to lie by the pool, I recommend you get your towels on the loungers before 9am. Lots of people were putting their towels down and not returning until at least 11am. There are a couple of beaches close by if that is your thing.
The staff were very friendly and location was perfect. You walk out of the main door to the shops and sea. Couldn't have asked for better. There are lots of restaurants and bars so we didn't need to eat at the Galeon Playa and most places serve breakfast too which were a lot cheaper that the Galeon.
Overall, we had a good time, could improve but this didn't spoil our stay.

stayed at the galeon twice now and got a room facing the sea, staff very pleasant and helpfull. cleaners very efficient and friendly, room had everything for self catering needs kettle, toaster, microwave and hob. rooms very spacious pool area very spacious and loads of sunloungers. never ate at the galeon as there are ample places to eat, plus hyper dino accross the road for all your self catering needs. at night would recommed liveley ladies but not for the faint hearted very good drag artist show there are also many bars which late at night are very quiet, also facing the galeon is the customer travel for all excursions been on a few and they are very informative all the way through and very reasonable priced.
you can jump on the local bus and visit other areas would recommed arreciffe plenty of shops/and food places to eat, the walk on the harbour is very nice and historical plus having a drink there was about 3 euros, the beach is the nicest ive seen in lanzarote and not crowded at all., overall very good value for money at the galeon
would i go back to galeon definately, did stop elsewere but galeon still came on top

Room Tip: ask for a sea veiw room as the sun is there from morning till dusk
