Usually hotels the size of the Corona Playa show some architectural style and rational design . This hotel had nothing of it. It could have used its considerable sea position to a much better advantage and profit. It was badly landscaped and designed. The architect did a bad job. Pity!
The Corona Playa rooms were spacious and well appointed. We were at first allocated the wrong accommodation but after complaining it was corrected immediatly.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Food was substantial but average.
The hotel was geared to the older generation.

It was our first stay at this hotel. We booked a superior room which in my opinion varies very little from a standard room. Sunbeds on balcony were useful but it was too hot in the afternoon to lie there comfortably due to being sheltered from the cooling breeze. Food met expectation for the most part except for a few occasions when the vegetables were undercooked.
Staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Entertainment was hit and miss. We usually went out after dinner to a local bar that had music. AC wasn't very efficient. Cooler in room was useful. Room was cleaned every day. Courtesy room was appreciated on departure. Would have preferred to be nearer to resort centre despite the short cut along the sea front.

Room Tip: 317 is in a quiet area below the lowest pool with the a sea view

Just came back from this hotel what a place. After we checked in this looked like we had made the right choice again. But i must say things are not as first thought the average age of customers was 65+ which is not a problem but when your trying to sunbath the only thing you can here is people taking about there heath problems. To make matters worst the food is not that great and the place is to quite for its own good.

Room Tip: we had room 506 you could not fault it

We have just returned from our first vist to the Coronas Playa and we were not dissapointed. The staff cannot do enough to make your holiday perfect. The food was excellent and a variety of choice in all inclusive.
The entertainment in the day was very well organised by the reps who were encouraging and pleasant without being intrusive if you chose not to participate. The evening entertainment we found dissapointing. This is not our first Thomson Gold hotel and we have experienced a much better standard elsewhere.
This did not hinder our holiday in any way and we enjoyed the hotel entertainment in the Monkey bar when it was open.
We will deffinately return.

We have now been back to Coronas Playa 7 times in 6 years & although we spoil ourselves these days with several 'breaks' during the year, Lanzarote is our "must do" for the calendar every year. The hotel offers everything we need & frequently are given the same room on our return without even asking! The staff always give us the warmest welcome & the entertainers provide a good level of fun for everyone. Lanzarote has a neat twist on the word "pretty"....not in the sense of the typical tourists "green rolling hillsides" of, say, Mallorca or Cyprus but in the sense of "pretty awesome, breath-taking, even eerie in the Timanfaya National Park area around the biggest volcanoes"; something you won't find on many other islands just 4 hours from home. Next stop? Back to Lanzarote!

Room Tip: Don't bother with going "all inclusive" [we never do it] there is so much to see on th...

Just returned from our first visit to Coronas Playa (we were with friends who have visited before). Food was excellent with good variety, staff were all wonderful, as I told the hotel management, when asked for an employee of the month recommendation, they were all excellent. We had an AI holiday and the best brands of drinker were served and waiters/waitresses were constantly circulation waiting for a drinks order from water, wine, spirits to tea and coffee. We had a garden suite - well laid out and very quiet.
Entertainment was in the Pavilion with Les and Lesley (The Score) as the main keyboardist and Singer of good quality. To be fair the acts are NOT "five star cruise ship standard" with the exception of the Drifters who were magnificent! However in most cases we were very well entertained. Tony the Thomson Gold lead entertainer was a brilliant host. I hope he comes back again when we visit next time!
This is an adults only hotel and the majority of guests are 40 + I believe. Its certainly one to visit again. We met many people who have taken holiday twice a year since it became a Thomson Gold Hotel. It has great appeal and that's why people go back there on repeat business.
Rooms - if you want quiet evening ask for a room away from the pavilion as doors ar open on warm nights.
Staff - Too may great personalties all very welcoming from Sian in the dining room to Thaya, Robert (trainee) and many many more.
Furnishings are four star with settee in suite a bit too hard. seats in pavilion need a cushion on the back as well as one on the seat. This is being a bit picky though, as I am sure that anyone visiitng this hotel will be impressed.
One word of warning avoid like the plague the company MTAS operating out of the fish footspa business using of of the retail outlets in the front of the hotel building. They are trying to sell expensive holiday membership fees and quote untenable holiday savings on a promise. They promised to get me a holiday at the hotel at half the price that we obtained. They also claim to be associated with the hotel, but our understanding is that this not the case. They also falsely claimed to be able to obtain half price cruise holidays via P&O in the carribean, but that there was no availability. patently NOT the case as I checked out on the internet in the hotel immediately after. They are very evasive and do not want to declare the cost of their package until the end of their spiel. AS I said AVOID them!

Room Tip: Garden Suites back onto wall of hotel perimeter not great outlook but very quiet. Ask for a room awa...

We had room 254. Cleaning and room service non existent. Entertainment 1950's Butlins. Food indifferent. Reception staff appalingly rude. On leaving we were forced to open our cases as we had not returned a voucher for towels which we had not used. Complained directly to Thomson staff who were next to useless.Worst Thomson Gold Hotel we've been too bar none.

Room Tip: As far from the Pavilion as you can get.
