This hotel doesn’t look much from the outside and from the promenade it looks even worse but once inside you will find a large clean hotel.
On arrival our check in was quick and the very helpful reception staff guided us to our room.
The room we had (207) looked directly onto the bottom pool, most of the rooms in this hotel look onto one of the two pools here. The bottom pool hosts all the daytime activities and this is a really great part to be in if you want to get involved and join in the fun.
If you just want peace and quiet and to chill out then head for the top pool. Both pools have a bar for your drinks and snacks and both pools have plenty of sun beds and shade.
There is a strict rule for not saving sun beds until after 10am. We have seen towels removed and a few occasions so be warned. However you can save your sun bed by laying on them but not with just a towel.
Pool towels can be obtained from reception with a 10 euro deposit refundable when you leave or for free if you have a safe which is 3 euro’s per day.
The rooms are extremely large and come with TV, Hairdryer, Fridge, Patio/Balcony, and Double Wardrobe so lot’s of hanging space.
I have to say at first the food was not all that special but certainly improved after a couple of days. My biggest disappointment was lunch. The menu was not that sparkling it was the same things every day which was poor and there were not a lot of salad choice either. But having said that it was sufficient and you can always get something at one of the pool bars if you are still hungry.
The staff at the Coronas Playa are second to none from the reception staff, entertainment staff right down to the cleaners everyone plays their part to make your stay warm and welcoming. The bar staff work really hard and the drinks are branded but make sure you ask for your drink by the branded name.
Many have said in other reviews about the strict rule on gentlemen wearing long trousers at dinner. Don’t try it on because you will be sent away and you will be embarrassed, luckily we never saw this happen while we were there.
Evening entertainment is in the Pavilion or if you just want a quiet drink or chat then the Monkey Bar is the place.
Should you need any extra cash there are plenty of banks close by the nearest about 400 yards from the hotel.
We went on the Lanzarote Vision which is a hop-on hop-off bus that takes you around the island. There are 2 routes north and south. If you buy one day at 19.50 euros you get the second day free so this is a cheaper way to get out and about and much better than hiring a car and driving yourself.
We certainly enjoyed our stay at the Coronas Playa and would defiantly go back there. We wanted to get away for a break and some winter sunshine, we got that and made lots of friends in the bargain.
