“Punching above its weight!”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We returned for a week over Christmas in Lanzarote Gardens, having been a couple of times before. Our first impressions were good - fresh, tidy, friendly and familiar staff.
Since our last stay, the hotel has gone over to offering all-inclusive deals as well, which means a family-friendly hotel that has more children gleefully running around and enjoying themselves.
If you choose this hotel - only a couple of minutes from a very good beach - don't expect to be served up culinary gourmet dollops, but you won't get all-day full English breakfasts either, which in our book is a good thing! Still, the food choice does not disappoint, except perhaps the coffee.
This is a no-frills, value-for-money, central and clean holiday location with the most helpful and patient of staff. A definition recommendation.
PS: It was only ever the Brits who reserved the sunbeds, despite notices advising against the habit ;-)

Just got back from a week over the Christmas period.
The good points first,
An excellent animation team, who work harder than any others I have ever seen.
The cleanliness is also second to none, both rooms and public areas.
The pool area is fantastic, with plenty of sun loungers.
The staff are very friendly and work very hard, but if you speak to them in their own language, they seem to keep their distance a bit.
The kids club and facilities are excellent (also run by the animation team).

The bad points ( I am sorry to say)

The restaurant.
The place is too small for the number of.guests.
The serving area gets crammed at meal times.
And finally, The food is only just edible, and sometimes the leftovers are tweaked and re-served at the next meal time.
We are not fussy eaters (we work in the food industry) and after living in Spain for many years as well as being on many all inclusive holidays, we think this one of the worst.
All three of us (2x adults and 5yr old) were actually ill whilst here, but I think that this was more to do with a bug going around, rather than the food, but you never know.
Please don't let this put you off, as it didn't ruin our Christmas. Our son loved it.
Would we go back again?
No................sorry.

Stayed at the H10 lanzarote Gardens from the 16th December-23rd December in a Wifi room (221). Room was in a fantastic location overlooking the pool on the second floor. It had a spacious balcony that caught the afternoon sun. The hotel was fairly quiet during the first few days but even when busier we weren't disturbed by noise (but not light sleepers!).

We had a fantastic week at the H10 and would have gladly stayed longer. Have travelled extensively and this is one of the only hotels that we would come back to and indeed plan to book for Xmas next year. As a single mother with a very active 6 year old boy this hotel provided the perfect break in the sun. We felt very safe at all times and found we were in really good company. It has a super family atmosphere, with lots of fun but no rowdy AI element that some hotels have. But what sets this hotel aside from its counterparts is its staff! Everyone goes out of their way to greet you and make you feel special. Nothing is too much trouble and their cheerfulness and sense of fun becomes infectious. A special thank you to Luis and Nico for letting my football mad 6 year old join in every footie session going including the adults and the 9-12 year olds! And for making his night with the special certificates for best goal and taking part! Also special thanks to the mini club staff especially Mario who took great care of my son and made his time really special.

Rooms
Rooms are basic but kept very clean. Plenty of sockets and a separate bedroom which gave a feel of space. Didn't use the kitchen facilities apart from the fridge but all seemed in order. Wifi was a bonus and worked well all week. Small hairdryer in the bathroom and toiletries provided. Shower was fantastic! Always hot water and fresh towels and linen every day except Wednesdays. There is also a 2 washers and a drier just behind the room and you can buy washing powder and tokens from reception (Great for families with kids or those who want to travel light). Didn't use the TV but one in the bedroom and in the lounge area.

Restaurant
The restaurant is small and not very intimate but suited us as a family. Has a small area with plastic plates and forks and children's buffet items (Spaghetti bolognaise / chicken nuggets etc ) and colouring stuff and a large children's table. This space leads out onto a small area with a play section with balls etc for toddlers. We didn t use any of this as the restaurant itself was very child friendly and the staff were lovely with the children. A huge thank you to Roberto who made such a fuss of my little boy and looked after us so well. We found the food to be lovely considering this is a 3 star hotel. Breakfast was the usual. Everything from omlettes and eggs cooked to order, pancakes, cooked breakfast items to continental style breakfast products including cereals, croissants, breads, ham cheeses even salad. Hot and cold drinks were self-service from machines.Lunch was simple but adequate. The burgers were lovely! There is also a toastie maker in the pool snack bar and small sandwiches / ice creams and cakes. For those not on AI there is a simple lunch menu with steak / burger etc. We also found the dinner to be good. There was plenty of choice and different themes each night. We never went hungry! All in all it was excellent value for money!

Location
Opposite the hotel across the road is a small shopping precinct with a few bars and shops. There a chemist and bank right outside and a supermarket in the precinct. If you follow it through you ll find the beach and a promenade that takes you to more shops and bars. We didn't venture out much as the hotel had so much on offer!

Pool
Kept very clean at all time. No fights for sunbeds this time of the year! Plenty available all day. The main pool has a section that gently shelves making it ideal for children. There is a separate baby pool and an additional smaller pool that is heated. All were very cold this time of the year but the smaller was just bearable! Green mats can be hired for 1E per day and towels require a deposit of 10E (returnable). There was a stretching class every morning by the pool and at 12 o clock The Blue Team run Daisy Games for adults and the kids which were great fun! These included limbo / tennis which involved Nico getting in the pool and catching balls in bucket / Kicking your shoe as far as possible - One which made it all the way onto the second floor balcony!!! And throwing the ice cube - Or spitting it if you were an adult!!! The kids loved the singing and dancing and meeting Daisy at this time. In the afternoon at the bar there was all kinds of fun too... Memory bingo / sangria demonstrations etc. The Blue team made all lots of fun and was a great way to meet people!

Activities
Blue Team are great at getting everyone involved but never pushy. I normally steer clear of any of these activities but found myself joining in all kinds of things! Activities range from sports such as football to archery / boules / shuffleboard etc. The mini club for 4-8 year olds is very well run. (Daily 10-12am and 3-5pm).There a safe sign in and out procedure and the staff are endlessly cheerful and really go out of their way to make the children comfortable and happy. It has it s own building with a play park and brightly coloured footie pitch. They had a super hero day where the kids made badges / hats, did mini games like egg and spoon etc and then won certificates which are given at the mini disco (8pm each night). My little boy found the activities a bit young but this was because the team were catering to the majority who were around 5 or younger. They were as flexible as possible though and tailor activities to suit the majority. There's also a separate baby club in sight of the pool with an outdoor play are that was popular with all ages.

The Teeny Club (9-12) was not supposed to run at this time but the Blue Team put on activities regardless because there was a demand. They let my son join in these activities such as footie / basketball etc which kept him entertained and shows just how much they go the extra mile to make everyone's holiday!

Evening entertainment
The younger children loved the mini disco! This is done inside on a low stage and is a small and safe environment for kids. It's followed by a certificate ceremony and a show. Glee and Grease were great and the Blue Team did impromptu dancing (Gangnam style!) after some which was lots of fun. There were 2 shows from outside entertainers which were OK. The evening entertainment suits families with kids but was low key and finished fairly early. There was billiards in the foyer and in the bar too. A Play Station and Internet in the foyer and 2 table tennis tables - One outside and one in the snack bar! There are 2 full size tennis courts behind the hotel which double up as footie / basketball pitches.

This is a relatively small hotel with a very personal feel. Granted it is not luxury accomodation, but what it lacks in polish it certainly makes up for in providing personal service. We met many people from all nationalities, many of whom were repeat visitors, some who go every year and a family who have been 10 times which is testament to it s success in providing a great family holiday that is fantastic value for money. For Winter sun, with good company and fabulous staff...Book it! You won t be disappointed!

Room Tip: Room 212! Overlooks the pool and a suntrap!

The structure is a pretty big hotel built in several blocks of 2/3 floors each with many spacious balconies. The common areas are all full of gardens perfectly kept in order, being cleaned every morning. Our apartment was on ground floor, wich was perfect for us having a baby with the stroller (for higher levels there is no lift). The rooms are really big, maybe some a bit old fashioned, but tidy and clean. We were there for two weeks, and it really was sad to leave, as we really enjoyed our stay. First: the animation team. They were great, incredible, so hard working and so friendly all the time, as well as good in the many show they play themself. WE have an year and a half old baby, and she really enjoyed the babyclub where she used to go almost everyday and play both with babies and with the girls who kept them. Second: the whole staff in general was so friendly, the reception, the barmen and barwomen, waiters etc... The only thing that was ok but not excellent was the food: a large variety of food always different day by day and for me was fine, but other people like my wife sometimes didn't know what to eat except for a salad or some grilled chicken. In general we found the fish most of the times really good. In the end, I really suggest this hotel to families with kids, and also recomend the all inclusive option.

Stayed here for 3 nights early December. Hotel itself its very well maintained and looks stunning especially around the pools area. The staff were probably the friendliest of any hotel we have stayed. We were all inclusive and the bar staff were very quick to get you served and there was a great range, especially the great range of cocktails. Appartment was nice clean and spacious. The only thing that wasnt quite upto scratch was the restaurant/ food - restaurant felt like a canteen not a restaurant. The food was just "ok", we didnt go hungry but it was not very exciting at all- 3 nights was enough of the food. we are lucky enough to holiday a few times a year and although we have had worse food this was down there near it. If they just put a bit more focus on food to bring it up to the standard of other H10 hotels we have stayed at then this would be a fantatstic hotel. Oh and the shows in the evenings were very good, the ents team must work hard to make them.
