If you want decent evening entertainment look elsewhere - the Bluebay team are at best amateuristic in their approach to entertainment.

The daytime activities are ok, it doesn't take much to get a crowd together and throw a dart or shoot and air rifle - it is the evening entertainment that they struggle with.
Their Legends dance show is the three of them dressed up in ill fitting costumes, they all looked like they could do with a good wash !! Bad choreography, bad music and bad dancing.
We had a quiz - the audience was mainly British - there were five music questions followed by five pictures and then 5 more music and 5 more pictures, so 20 questions in all. For this format we needed almost 10 minutes of instruction. So the first picture goes up on the screen, with the title of the jpeg being the answer to the question !! When we pointed this out, the "quizmaster" thought we needed more instructions as to the format of the quiz ??

The reptile and bird show were interesting - over fairly quickly though. You have the chance to have your photo taken with the animals afterwards, but you have to have their photos at 20 Euros a pop ! They stand in front of you to stop others from taking pictures and get rather shirty if you persist with your camera.

On New Year's Eve they shipped in a three piece Spanish rock band - not a great sound and not a great choice of songs either. They had a break at 11:30 when the three animation staff took over again and managed to clear what dancers had ventured onto the dancefloor with some unknown garage/house music. They did play Moves Like Jagger which had everyone up dancing but they soon stopped the dancing with another track from their dull repertoire. After the gongs at midnight my party started a rendition of Auld Lang's Iron, which was very quickly comuted to almost everyone doing the 'dance'. This was again too much enjoyment for the three amigos - they started playing more music halfway through it our song !!

The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable and the resort/area is lovely. The drinks are what they are - local and pretty tasteless although the Gin does have a bit of kick to it.
The food was average - plenty of choice but fairly bland. The salads were the best bit.
The New Year's Eve meal was very very nice by contrast - they really pushed the boat out for that meal.
Breakfasts were okay but very "samey" and not much to choose from on the hot counter.

It's a 5 or 6 minute walk to Playa Bastion with a nice beach and a few bars and shops and a 15 / 20 minute walk into Costa Teguise which is much more lively.

I would definitely go back, but would take a fe more Euros and venture into Costa Teguise every night for some entertainment and probably some hot food on a couple of nights.

Stayed in this hotel 30/12-6/01 for new year week! Me and my partner 27 and 29 and another couple with their 2 year old. Only complaint was the pools were freezing!! Don't have a bad word to say about the place. Hotel was clean, food was great. yes the pool bar snacks was repetitive but were isn't?? Always some sort of entertainment/shows etc on. Shops and bars near by. But 10 minute walk you have the main strip which has lots of shops, bars, dining and a lovely beach. Also weather was fab

Just returned from this hotel. Nice, clean room - we had requested a quiet room on a high floor and got just that. Beds were comfy, and the blackout curtains were so good we had to leave them open or we'd never wake up!

Food was a good standard at all meals definitely above average, and the meal on New Years Eve was particularly good. Nice extra touches that night like canapes and a glass of sparkling wine on arrival and a bottle of wine at the table rather than the (actually quite good) normal wine on tap. Party bags too :) Not so sure about the 12 lucky grapes at midnight though - seedless ones would have been easier to eat on each bong of the clock!! Plenty of options for non meat eaters like myself. All very tasty. I would have rated it 5 out of 5 if there had been a better selection at breakfast - some mushrooms or hash browns would have made a nice addition to the cooked selection for me.

Staff were lovely and polite. Beach bar and the bar in reception were both good, the 'theatre' was ok too. Standard acts, much the same as any other hotel in Lanzarote. Generous drink portions make them seem better!

The hotel is in a quiet location - a good walk into Costa Teguise but we knew that when we booked and enjoyed the walk. There is a pleasant small beach down the gravel path (Playa Bastian). Good facilities down there too (public loos - clean etc). Would happily stay at the BlueBay again.

We were booked to stay at a different set of apartments self-catering but on arrival in Lanzarote we were advised that we were overbooked. Thomas Cook therefore upgraded us to the 4* Blue Bay Apartments and put us all inclusive. This turned out to be a great boost to our holiday not to mention our wallets! It was our first family holiday and we were all given apartments next door to each other. The staff were very friendly esp. our happy cleaner. The food was above average I would say and the complex on a whole was very clean. It was a bit further to walk to the beach than our original resort but this had its plus points as it was quieter spot (better for our infant family member) and the walk down to the beach was enjoyable (use the gravel path next to the complex...a shortcut). I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Go for an apartment....more room!!

This was our first all inclusive family holiday and we had a lovely time. The staff are friendly and the animation team try really hard to get everyone involved with the entertainment. The pools were clean but could do with more parasols as there aren't enough to go round. Kids pool is a good size and the cool temp was good considering we arrived during a heat wave! Food was mostly good although kids selection not great if you have a fussy eater.
Rooms were nice and blackout curtains were amazing. A/c brill and was on all the time. Shower does flood the bathroom but this didn't ruin the holiday for us!
Evening entertainment was good for the kids, the generous spirit measures given by the bar staff help the grown ups enjoy :) cocktails are nice but not many on the all inclusive but local spirits are nice.
Location is great, if you hire a car you can get round the island in no time at all. Free shuttle bus to the beach handy too.
Overall a fab place to stay - we would definitely come back!

About a month ago, it was agreed by common consensus within my family, that we couldn't take another miserable Christmas at home, what with the foul weather, long dark nights and the inevitable crush for the Christmas shopping.

After a hectic search, we settled on Lanzarote and secured a booking at the BlueBay Resort. Our spirits lifted immediatley on arrival at the hotel on 23rd December. The staff were welcoming, the accommodation was convenient for a family of 5 and the food was so good that we only missed mealtimes on 2 occasions, when we were too far away to return just to eat.

I have promised my kids we'll go back next Christmas and I mean it!

Room Tip: Higher floors tend to be better protected from the night time sounds of revellers.
