Got back yesterday having stayed there for 7 nights in June 2016. Went with just my partner and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel location to the beach is fantastic and although a slightly longer walk than the pictures seemed to show was still only 10 minutes from our room to the sand. Weather was amazing during our stay and only 3 of the days we stayed was the wind noticeably as strong as I'd read about prior to going. People in hotel were 99% German and met only 1 other English couple, as well as this age range is predominantly 40+ but me and my partner, in our mid 20s, still enjoyed it. Only criticism was the food was seemingly catered for the German palette with some odd pork dishes, and by day 7 we were quite bored of the buffet options as non-German guests. All in all a fantastic holiday and would definitely consider going to Fuerteventura again!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to write and share this review of your recent stay with us at our hotel IBEROSTAR Playa Gaviotas and the readers of Tripadvisor.

Also, as an IBEROSTAR hotel we know how important an aspect food and drinks are for our guests’ overall experience, this is why our chefs created a wide assortment of different options to please the most discerning of palate and in addition we follow a nine day menu rotation. Reading that you thought our food was good but at times a lacked variety, although being quite a surprise makes us feel that we are doing a good job but maybe have a possibility to do even better which we promise you we will endeavor to do if possible.

Once again, thank you for your visit and constructive critics, we hope that you had a nice journey back home and look forward to welcoming you again at your earliest convenience.

Kind Regards

Quality Manager

Great hotel with the standards you'd expect from an Iberostar. Cleanliness excellent, food excellent, drinks excellent and staff excellent. Lovely pool area with plenty of sunbeds and shallow pool areas for children. The animation team work really hard but aren't in your face which is great. Special shout out to Paulina (apologies as I've probably got the name wrong ) she really put the effort in with our daughter which was great.

Downsides were for us, and they're not significant, that the hotel is geared up for German guests and as the majority are German this makes sense. Proved a little frustrating because most staff had no English at all and it was hard to sometimes communicate. Usually staff have basic English (arrogant to expect but it is usually the case).
The lack of English children was frustrating for our 4 year old and she wouldn't play with the friendly German children probably due to the language barrier. I personally wouldn't recommend this hotel to any English speaking families with an only child!
The rooms are spotlessly clean but we were on level 6 and it as noisy with trolleys and suitcases being pushed around day and night.

The weather is very windy, sunny but windy which did annoy us... Obviously this is beyond the control of the hotel but typical of the island. The beach was horrendously windy and not pleasant.

We spent 11 days at the Iberostar Gaviotas Plays and had a really great time there. The hotel is comfortable and the rooms are big. We booked a family room, means two two-bed rooms with a door between the rooms and were completely satisfied with what we got.

The food was good as well, so was the pool area. It has a very large beach right next to the hotel and a store for the essentials more or less 10 minutes to walk away. For children it has a lot of animation including a sweet mini-disco and a mini club.

We will go again and enjoyed our holidays very much.

We spent a week here AI in the star prestige section. Our room was on the ground level, which was nice as it had your own 'bed' just outside your patio, and 2 sunbed a few yards away on the grass -saved any bed grabbing early morning. The view was fabulous over the beach, which was a short walk away.
The room was nice, good toiletries, coffee machine, a safe , nice maids daily.
We enjoyed the snacks , on the star area, smoked salmon, cheeses, breads, friuts and drinks to help yourself to from 10:30_6pm daily. The wine was fine, and named spirits.

I must say a big thanks to the cuban Frank, a nice man, kept a very very clean and efficent bar.
The food in the restaurant was ok, varied, big range of foods. My disappointment was the room is very large ....like a large work canteen. We had the spanish night in the other restaurant, and wished we hadnt.I didnt enjoy the food.
The staff only speak to you in german, they presume your german, even if you speak spanish, or english, the reply always came in german!
The main bar was nice, very friendly and good staff, but do not ask for a cocktail!! They are mass produced from a 'mix', i have never had such a terrible attempt at a cocktail. That said the wine , and G n T was fine.
We would return, last year we stayed at the Barcello Playa, the food was better there, but everything else was superior at the iberostar.

My husband and I have just returned from 7 days at the Iberostar Gaviotas hotel, overall it has been great and we would recommend it.
There are 3 Iberostar hotels right next to each other. The Iberostar Fuerteventura, the Ibetostar Gaviotas Park, which is located behind the Gaviotas hotel. This means you are unable to see the ocean from the many areas and rooms of the Gaviotas Park hotel as it is blocked by the Gaviotas hotel.
We are in our early 30's and the crowd is mostly more mature. We believe that we have been one of the youngest couples in the whole resort. There are many families with younger children though.
We have to agree with previous comments about the main crowd being German speaking, which was not an issue for us as I do speak the language.
The food is also mainly oriented towards German guests, but both me and my husband have found the buffet to be a good variation. The food is ok, nothing special but decent.
We booked a room in the prestige star area, which I would definitely recommend, it is worth the extra cost. No kids under 16 years. Very quiet and relaxing, no hassle for any sun loungers and it has a separate food/ snack and drinks bar. Though I have to say the snacks and fruit are the same every day, a some variation would be nice. The sandwiches provided appear to be very dry.
You are also not limited to any specific restaurant time. The non- prestige guests have to pick a dinner time of either 18:30 or 19:30. There are 2 restaurants , the Atlantico and Aventura. You need reservation for the Aventura and it is only open Tuesday and Friday with 2 different set menus - Spanish and Italian . We did not find the Spanish one very good. We did not try the Italian one.
The prestige gym is good and has all new Technogym equipment. The only main complaint is that there is a timer on it and it does not open until 8am. There are no opening times anywhere so you would not know unless you try and reception appears to be unaware of that fact as when we asked they did not know. Also the room is very very warm as the air conditioning is not sufficient enough.
Our room was on the 2nd floor of hotel and prestige level, it was great but the air condition is not good enough, we both like to sleep quite cold at night and there was no temperature dial to adjust it in the room , which meant we had to sweat through the night, which was a bit inconvenient.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The Spa is located between the Gaviotas Park hotel and Gaviotas hotel.
We both experienced messages at the spa, which were great, though the couples room we had was at the front of the spa and you could here lots of outside noise, it also does not help that the access to the gym of the Gaviotas park hotel is via the spa entrance. The rest of the spa area, pool and saunas look a little tired and could do with some updating. Due to its location you can also here many noises of guests walking by to their rooms at the Gaviotas Park hotel if you are in the relaxation area of the spa. Not so relaxing ...
As in many European hotels/resorts you have to pay for your safe.
The in-house entertainment in the evening has been really good, the external one was a bit disappointing.
There is a nice walk way/jogging/running path above the beach and below the hotel that makes for a great walk after dinner or before breakfast walk. You can walk into the nearby town area from the hotel in like 10-20 min walk and Morre Jable is like 10 min drive away with lots of souvenir shops and restaurants.
The area is very windy and even though the temperature forecast has said 22 degrees every day, it's been 25-27 degrees daily and the sun is actually really hot and only the wind makes it cool down a little.

We rented a car to get from the airport, which takes about 1h10 min and is a very easy drive. We kept the car all week and did a couple of excursions around the island on our own.
