“Superb stay”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

Just arrived back from a 10 night stay the stay was spot on. All the staff were very polite and friendly. We had with us our 6 year old boy who is very shy and after a few days was willing to participate in the kids club as the staff there was fantastic and worked really hard to keep the kids happy and entertained day and night! Everyday our rooms were cleaned and beds made and even on one occasion a bottle of champagne was left! The staff at meal times work very hard and seem very happy in their work. Also the spa is a must for 12 euros it was just a pity the massages was fully booked which must only mean a good thing, need 2 or 3 days notice! Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice peaceful stay.

My husband and I (29 and 37) Just came back from a one week vacation from this hotel and we definitely enjoyed ourselves We picked this hotel because we had stayed one week in summer in another Iberostar hotel in Greece, that was a five star one but this one was very good too.
Food was amazing with so many variations and very good quality, staff were friendly and helpful, there were a lot of entertainment programs both for children and grown ups and location was on a very good part of the island (down in the south).
Just consider some points, you should pay for some stuff like using safe deposit box in the room, internet in the lobby and using indoor swimming pool (which is part of the spa). The beach is amazing but in order to access it you should pass another Iberostar hotel (there are three of them!!) and it takes like 10 minutes to get there. It was very windy and a bit chilly when we were there so swimming in the sea and sun bathing are not really options if you are not a fan of cold weather. But there is a pool with warmer temperature in the hotel that is pleasant.
Distance to the airport is around 80 km and you should drive for 2 hours to get to Corralejo which has the whitest sand beach. But nearby beaches are as fantastic as Corralejo. We rented a car (57 euro per day) and drove all over the island in 2 days.
There are so many shops nearby the hotel from local ones to the most famous brands and you can spend couple of hours in them.
Most of the guests were German as apparently this is how the island is divided; British people in the north and German people in the south. There were other nationalities too, but the second language of the island and in some places even the first one was German!
Overall it was

This review is slightly late but better late than never! Stayed at this resort as a family of 3 at the end of July 2012. Myself and my husdand late thirties/early forties and our 4 yr old son. I booked this via Alpharooms as at the time I don't think this hotel was available through British main tour operators, but this year noticed you can go with Thomas Cook. Chose Fuerteventura to overlap our holiday with a friend who was staying at the Barcelo Jandia Mar. As a party of 3 we wanted a room larger than a double/twin so that our son would have a little space to play - we saw the Playa Gaviotas Park on TA and liked the look of it and although it had few reviews they were all pretty positive.

Located next to the beautiful beach of Jandia. I got a room tip from TA and had a fabulous suite which was larger than most as situated on the corner so had veiws of pool, sea and inland. Our balcony was MASSIVE - large lounge and dining area and good sized bedroom. Our son won't sleep out on the sofa bed on his own but it looked really comfy. Only slight negative was that they didn't provide loungers on the balcony, for health and safety. Shame as it was a sun trap and so big.

Whole place was spotless, several pools and able to use the facilities of the Playa Gaviotas which is just in front and which you can walk trough to access the beach. There is one main buffet restaurant here and the pool bar becomes a theme restaurant in the evening. You can also eat in the Playa Gaviotas, which we did only once. Food in both places was outstanding but we preferred the more relaxed feeling in the Gaviotas Park. Fab choice, always hot enough and lots of variety. Great thing here was the ability to serve yourself from the hot drinks to juice, soft drinks, beer and wine on tap and shorts/cava. These drinks were available throughout the day at the pool bar too where there was also ice creams and slush drinks. What was great is that no-one abused this system as I can imagine that some people would just fill their boots and get legless!

The animation team are great and our son loved the shows, especially the Lion King. There is a an Iberostar kids club but our son didn't want to stay there as he was the only British child as 95% were German with some Spanish and French. Having said that they were all extremely friendly and courteous and was one reason we chose the hotel as Germans always demand high standards. Another delight was that you didn't thave the 7am rush for reserving sunbeds, which drives me insane. People would start to put towels out about 9ish but even if you went to the pool at say 11am there would always be beds free.

My husband used the gym several times and said it was okay but don't think it was air-conditioned. I chose to relax on the balcony while he went for a sweat! The suites do have a fridge and a small self catering area behind some cupbaord doors but no crockery etc. or kettle - one thing my husband did miss was a coffee first thing but I would often pop down to the restaurant and take one up for him while he and my son were still snoozing!

The hotel is on the edge of the resort - we walked down the beach along to the lighthouse once but the wind just whipped the sand up and was quite painful for my son. The beach by the Gaviotas is slightly more sheltered so not as breezy and very safe for children. If you walk along to the left hand side of the beach to the rockier areas that's where you will find the chipmunks which were very friendly and would eat from your hands. We didn't go into the village of Morro de Jable as just spent our evenings in the hotel.

What's prompted me tofinally write this review is I am looking for this summer's holiday and am struggling to find something that looks like it can compare with this place! The only thing that's preventing me booking again was that it would be nice for my son to make some new friends on holidays and the language barrrier really prevented this last year. As Thomas Cook are now booking here too maybe there will be slightly more Brits, but hopefully not too many. Would definitely return and highly recommend especially if you have more than one child so they can provide a bit of company and then maybe it's easier to be more confident in the kids club.

If you book it you really won't regret it - it's an ideal place for someone with young children.

Room Tip: We got a corner suite on the fifth floor - it was fab!

Came back on Saturday the 19th of January from a enjoyable stay in Gaviotas Park. We enjoyed the cleaniliness of the hotel, every area was absolutly spotless. Gardens are always extreem well maintained. The Gaviotas Park Hotel is a reasonable compact hotel, the distances to the pools, diningroom, and reception are very reasonable and ideal for kids or elderly people.
There are no steep hills inside the hotels to climb en all the stairs and walking path are level and well maintained.
For the room we had a Junior Suite on the fifth floor which was fine, big enough, good facilities and everyday super clean, the towels changed every day, never a problem, fridge with bottled water in the room, perfect.
Around the pool area is very clean, plenty sunbeds and we enjoyed the heated pool. The walk to the beach is easy and even for my wife who slightly disabled easy to do.
The beach in Jandia is something else, its the main reason that we go there for many years already, nice sand and a clean sea.
Its an nice and easy walk to the Lighthouse and from there to the town center, there is a Nude beach half way but you dont have to look, do you?
Taxi to the town center is approx € 3.50 so no complaines.
The food in the hotel is of good quality, I personal would prefer it slightly hotter, but I undestand from an operational point of view this would cause many probles as it would dry out very quickly.
There is plenty of choice, there is always fresh cooking going on so you can have your meat, poultry or fish the way you want it.
The staff is very helpfull, friendly, the drinks are good, there is plenty of decent wine, and you can drink sec (frizante) from the early morning to the late evening.
The entertainment is good fun, Ray and his Team does defiantly a good job, yes it's not Broadway but you can have a good laugh and it entertains for many languages, the team has plenty activities on the day but are never pushy or annoying to get people to join. In the evening they have a couple of nights a show on, other nights there are "third party" entertainment.
We didn't use the spa, my wife won in the bingo a free ticket but we enjoyed the sun to much, and preffered to stay outside in the sun during the day.
The main advantage of this hotel over the 2 other Iberostar hotels around it, is that in this time of the year it's slightly more sheltered from the wind.
We are a couple from both 50, en really enjoyed the stay, yes there where some kids, but they where never a problem, the mini club kept them well busy and entertained.
Would I go again, yes in the winter, in the summer we prefer the Palace, its more expensive but I prefer the layout and we come there already several years.

No negative than? Yes one question; please can we have softer toilet paper next time?

Brits are very much in a minority at this hotel - probably only 1 to every 20 Germans. If you have kids or enjoy having lots of kids scurrying around & making lots of noise, then this is the hotel for you. Don't misunderstand me, well behaved kids such as the few Spanish & French ones that were there for the Christmas period, were great. It's the extremely rude, unruly, ignorant, arrogant ones that spoilt it for us. The hotel, staff, food, facilities, rooms & location were all great. But unfortunately, it's not a place we will be returning to.

If you don't mind being in a minority as far as nationality is concerned and are more worried about the quality of the room, the pools, the food, the drink and the beach etc, then this is the place for you. There were very few families with small children there when we stayed and it did seem popular with a somewhat older clientelle. This made for a very relaxing environment however. We will return.
